MGS 5 is an amazing masterpiece of action, story line and suspense.

From a gameplay perspective this is easily the best stealth game I have ever played. As a fan of Metal Gear and its story, the game was lacking from a narrative standpoint.

An epic open world game that changes the way I look at the franchise.

If you're looking for an open world action game heavily focused on stealth, this is exactly what you want. Headshotting soldiers with tranquilizer darts never gets old, and the game offers you a vast playground spread across two maps (Afghanistan and Africa) combined with a large toolbox of equipment to do your thing. However, there are quite a few issues that detract from the experience. The upgrade system is a huge timewasting grind and feels like it was designed for F2P microtransactions. Towards the endgame, you'll end up waiting DAYS in real world time for an upgrade to complete. There is also a lot of unnecessary fiddly micromanagement involved with maintaining a well populated base of soldiers. The story is nonsensical and half-baked, with relevant information bizarrely buried in audio diaries that no one will listen to. That's not to say that there are not a handful of great moments ("Shining lights even in death" and the conclusion to the Paz missions were extremely effective), it's just that you have to wade through a sea of mediocrity to get to it. This flaw is made even more pronounced when the game forces you to replay a bunch of missions with difficulty modifiers to unlock the end, and the entire time all I wanted to do was skip the repeated cutscenes. For all the problems in MGS5, however, it is the fun core gameplay loop of taking over outposts through stealth and action that holds the experience together.

I love this game. It is a must buy. It is the best MGS in the series.
