I had been waiting for a new Metal Gear for a while and this one was worth the wait. I don't play much online so my review is strictly related to the story mode.

My only gripe was that Konami didn't allow Hideo Kojima to complete the game. If you don't know what I'm talking about then venture to youtube.

Any Metal Gear Solid Fan will love this, a great expansion, continuation (and probable conclusion) on this almost 30 year franchise. Certain mechanics and functions to the game border on the ridiculous within a military espionage genre but after a while this unwittingly can't help but add to the charm.

THERE ARE LOTS OF THINGS TO DO, BUT THE ONE THING MISSING IS THE EPIC BOSS FIGHTS FROM PREVIOUS METAL GEAR GAMER. THERE ARENT ANY PSYCHO MANTIS, OR SNIPER WOLF.

This game is really awesome, it's got so much content and the story ( although somewhat out there ) is still gripping enough that it'll get you interested.

This is a must-play for stealth fans. Amazing graphics for the open world environment allow for myriad ways to approach mission objectives. You can send enemies and more to your base via balloon lifts, which is funny and necessary. The story is confusing Metal Gear fare, but entertaining and somewhat interesting. Controls are accurate and gameplay is smooth and precise.

The game gives you different options, you can do single missions or follow the storyline. Allow you time to fully play the game and enjoy it over time

Excellent and somewhat addictive game for ps4. Not just a first person shooter, involves management of resources etc. and levels are not too difficult.

MGSV: TPP is a awesome game. The story could have been better, but there's a chance that Hideo Kojima did that on purpose due to the issues with Konami.

The open world depth of the game is enough to keep you engaged and busy without having to traverse through the story. Playing the story, listening to the tapes and learning about all the major characters from the series truly does define MGS V as the missing link for the whole series. Just play the game. You should have played it by now if you haven't already.

Kojima nails another hit with this installment. Hopefully he continues his work sans Konami. This game is deep, gorgeous and has loads of game time.

Metal Gear is probably the best way to showcase this generation of game consoles. Nothing else in its genre comes close. So PS4 or Xbox One? Buy It!

Great Gameplay, Terrible Story and Missions

Metal Gear Sold: The Phantom Pain is an outstanding game brought down by a near completely nonsensical story and a mission structure and progression design choice that practically tells you when Hideo Kojima left the project. The intro gameplay sequence is perfect, serving to establish the story and the protagonist's role in it, build tension, show off the Fox Engine's graphical capabilities, and demostrate the game's core controls. After that, you're dropped into the initial conflict zone of Afghanistan (with North Africa added later) and introduced to Mother Base, your home "hub" of operations. The lushness of the graphics and animations all serve to pull you into a world of believe-ability, despite the impossible mix of modern/future tech with 70s/80s tech and a game world nearly devoid of anything other than wildlife and combatants. Controlling Snake is relatively seamless and rewarding, especially his stealth mechanics. But about halfway into the mix of compelling, but hokey story-driving missions and side missions that become repetitive after a while, it all falls apart as the game designers decide to have you replay story missions that you've already completed, and merely ramping up the difficulty in them, in order to advance your progress in the story. If I didn't know any better, I'd wager that this is the moment where Konami grew tired of the slow progress on the game, asked Kojima to "pick up the pace", he refused, and the two parties parted ways. After that, Konami throws in this mission replay conceit to feed the "hundreds of hours of gameplay" back-of-the-box selling point. It's patently ridiculous and really breaks the immersion in the gameworld. For me, it brings what could have been an all-time great game down a few notches. Even the online, FOB attack and defense missions seem lazy in that all bases are identical with practically no variety other than level of defending AI soldiers and armaments. In the end, this was a tremendous missed opportunity at greatness for me.
