As a (sort of) remake of Metroid 2, this game does a great job of introducing some new features and satisfying Metroid fans with a new entry!

I haven't played Metroid in years(like '90s) and it is so far very fun and VERY challenging for my old hands. I think my fast twitch muscles are getting old and are not as fast as they use to be. Should be good for someone who likes fast twitch side scrollers.

This is a great remake of the return of samus game that was originally on gameboy. Updated graphics and gameplay. Definitely worth it.

There really is no comparison if you owned the original title on GameBoy. Great game and these improved graphics make it even better.

2D metroid games are my favorite games of all time. I was a little nervous this game would not live up to the rest, but it really does!

Very fun and engaging game. A good return to the 2D metroid of yesteryear. I had a blast playing for short or long periods of time.

This may be your last chance to play a classic 2D platformer Metroid. This game is a ton of fun, my 6 & 8yo love this game as well.

I was terrified this game would be mediocre since the developer, Mercury Steam, also made Castlevania: Mirror of Fate. However, they seemed to have learned a lot from their mistakes because this is a fantastic remaster of one of the best GB games. I really love the new melee parry attack. I even love the added 3D effects, which I rarely use on my 3DS, they are implemented so well in this game that I’d actually recommend playing the whole game in 3D (especially if you have the New 3DS).

Metroid 2: Return of Samus is a frustrating timesink that can feel hardly worth the effort you put in. Now Metroid: Samus Returns is a fantastic game that sets the standard for "remastered" games. The first breath of fresh air Samus Returns introduces is the counter-attack mechanic, which lets you manage fights and your speed. Then the first Aeion ability you're given is Scan Pulse, which reveals most secrets within a certain distance, removing the need for guessing which blocks are destructable. Just as with the original, how you go about exploring is mostly up to you. The map helps tremendously with this, as well as the hints from the Chozo seals. You'll *almost* never feel lost. Only once did I really feel lost, and it was during a specific boss fight (which I feel could've been designed better). Now, the downsides. While the counter-attack mechanic is nice, it also gets fairly stale, fast. Although, this is mostly due to the lack of variety in enemies and having to backtrack through them. The controls a great, but they're locked in. That means no adjusting your key configs for the physical buttons or the touchscreen controls. The touchscreen buttons would've been great to rearrange because some of them are in such awkward positions. Whether you have big, small, or the perfect hands for the 3DS, unless you're fine taking your time to select things, you'll find yourself thinking the same thing. Overall, Samus Returns is a great addition to the Metroid series, with very minor issues. The perfect thing to sit on while you wait for Prime 4.

    Classic Metroid Fun, Modern Sensibilities

I am a huge Metroid fan so my opinion might be skewed, but I loved this game. Is it as good as Super Metroid? No. Its a much more linear, less naturally progressing game. But if you love metroidvania style games, metroid games, platformers, or just a great, challenging 2-D game, Metroid is worth the price of admission.

This was a good entry in the Metroid series. The biggest flaw in this game is simply the system it is on. I found my hands would cramp up with the fast twitch movements on the circle pad. The game itself was excellent though.

I’ve heard that this is the original second game that came out in the franchise. I didn’t know if that was true or not but it’s really fun 2 play this game as it’s the same controls 2 the original just that better graphics.

I had a Nintendo 64. I had a Gamecube. I had a Wii. I had a Wii U. What I didn't have was a Metroid game. They were either something I didn't know about at the time or INSANELY hard to find. I managed to pick up the amiibo pack associated with this game. I decided why not go ahead and pick up the game as well. It plays beautifully. I wonder why Nintendo has not brought this title back sooner! The visuals are stunning for a 3ds game. The music is wonderful. My ONLY complain would be the controls are a little wonky.
