Perfect for engineering students
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this computer to use for school. I am a computer engineering major and need a lot of programs. Downloading them was easy and there is plenty of storage left over for more programs. The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is because I once had to restart it when reconnecting the top part to the key board because the key board didn’t register that they were connected and it seems a little bit to new for that to be happening. Worked perfectly after restarting though and it only happened once. Overall a great buy!

Best all-in-one I ever owned!
||Posted . Owned for 7 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Love the design, color and performance. I originally got the 15" but turned out too big for me so I gave it to my son and got the 13.5" and love it!

Great upgrade
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had a surface pro for 6 years and it was finally time to upgrade. So far I've been really happy with the Surface book. I haven't tried everything with it yet but I love it's versatility. It's great to have the convenience of a tablet and laptop in one and while working from home I turn the screen around and set it up with an extension monitor with a bluetooth keyboard and mouse. It is really easy to connect other accessories too and I'm looking forward to going through photos with it and seeing how it does for travel.

Surface book
||Posted . Owned for 5 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great versatile surface. Powerful. The ability to use the surface as a work station and then separate the screen and use as touch pad is extremely functional. Battery life is also excellent. I'm also just realizing that the screen when separated can be charged directly also. Keyboard section has usb c jack and multiple usb Jack's for external features. Resolution is great and connecting a usbc adaptor with hdmi is a daily use with a second screen connected for work

Delivers power and nice has a nice design
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As a member of the BestBuy Tech Inside group (an invitation-only program) I received this product for the purpose of writing honest, unbiased review. In addition to that, I have been requested to review Microsoft Surface Book 3 especially focusing my analysis on its processor capacities. Opening the box and first impressions: From outside, I and excited about its design and nice color in the chassis (mine is the platinum color), the comfortable keyboard, and I’ve been seduced at first sight by its 2-in-1 format. The easy plug and connect between the keyboard deck and the screen makes very quick to trust in the long term life of this device (while other 2-1 that I own you can identify it as one of the weak parts of the 2-1 technology). One only element that seems to be part of the surface family and I am not sure that I like, when you fold the laptop, the join connecting screen and keyboard is not fully closed leaving a small gap when closed. Quite light and comfortable to move around. By turning on, you can see the screen colors in my 13.5-inch 3000 x 2000-pixel panel are outstanding. Not only I can see the full 4K in my Netflix movies but in some cases, the colors are very powerful. This is promising for my video editing software (see below). The touch capabilities are also quite responsive and I imagine that will be especially reactive to the surface pen (not included in the box). Talking about the sound I think that the fact that speakers are located behind the screen on the table component, makes it feel like stereo sound versus most of the laptops where the sounds come from below or from speakers embedded in the deck. The Surface 3 comes with two cameras, the traditional one in the front for working and video conferencing and the one in the back added to empower the tablet life of the device, when is separated from the deck. The keyboard and touchpad are one of the most reactive that I've ever used. From other models where the keys seem to be embedded in the chassis, the surface 3 has its keys with the right sensitivity and size to facilitate the typing. Connectivity, with 2 USB-A and one USB-C plus the card reader and the sound jack is a bit short in my opinion. When you connect your surface with your monitors and other peripherals you wish that a second (at least) USB-C was there. A limit factor os that all the connections (except sound jack) are in the base, so nothing available when using in tablet mode. Like most of the laptops, I would recommend being aware of not working on hard surfaces because it can heat a bit in less than 20 min of work. Not too serious but I see the bigger temperature that the other laptop that I use for work. Let’s put this to serious work: I was requested to be hard and unfriendly on the processor so I tried to multitasking jobs with a strong component of screen and sound: few war video games and adobe premiere pro to transform some of my GoPro videos in a more professional product. In all the jobs, the Core i7-1065G7 CPU and 32GB of RAM in combination with the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660 Ti video card deliver an amazing job quality. While in video games, the most impressive part is the full combination of video and sound plus the fast screen refresh and the contrast ratio. Is in the editing works where I can describe the laptop as fast and responsive, I’ve converted a 4K video into one 1080p in little more than 16 min same job in the other laptop (another brand, also Core i7-8550U CPU) at home goes for 25 minutes with, in some cases, an uncertain outcome and some lagging and some processes ending in some screen freezes. Need also to add that after the video conversion, where I’ve been able to enjoy the most is with the color palette, the combination of the processor, the video card and the screen resolution makes this laptop a great option for professional video edits (including when on the road). The final comments about battery life. In this area, I’ve been less successful against the specs on the web than in other areas. Think that the main battery is in the deck, so while as a laptop (two combined) I had a nice 10 hrs day of work, as a tablet only never more than 2 hours and 45 min. I need still to explore some of the different options to regulate the screen brightness that could perhaps extend the battery life of some additional minutes. My main conclusion is that the Microsoft Surface Book 3 delivers what promise, for video edits is now my most performing tool. A nice design line, a laptop/tablet hybrid that serves as a professional tablet and excellent laptop experience. But the battery life could still be better considering some of the options in its competitors.

Good laptop with true tablet capabilities
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is not just a laptop, it also can be used just like a tablet. The eject feature to remove the tablet/scree from the keyboard/base makes it easy to turn this device into a tablet. The battery life is excellent, going several hours without a charge. The back lit keyboard is a great feature. It seems well made. Research suggests that this Surface Book can be used with the Surface Dock 2 docking station.

Quality piece of kit
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Superb combo laptop. Great specifications and performs tasks well. Really lightweight and works well either as a laptop or tablet. Quality build. The only downside so far is that you shouldn't expect too many ports available, I have since bought the docking station to fix that. Would highly recommend based on my experience so far.

Great 2 in 1 Surface
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I like the size of my surface book 3. It is 13.5 in Touch-Screen. The 32 Gb memory makes it run smoothly. I bought an open box but returned it and bought a new one even though I had to pay extra. I am getting comfortable with it because it is replacing my HP Touchsmart 23" all in one computer. I will write more about it later

This machine is powerful
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. From startup right out of the box, to daily use, this computer just continues to amaze. It's fast and in today's impatient world, that's a plus. Best Buy was great as well, so helpful, and they got the computer here in less than a week. The computer had to be ordered, because they don't stock this large capacity machine. If you're looking for a fast computer with lots of storage, this is your machine!

Great Combo for Power User that also want a Tablet
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've used 3 prior iterations of the Surface Pro (the original, 3 and 5) and it was time for an upgrade. I thought about the Surface Pro 7 or 7+, but decided I really would like to have a dedicated GPU while still have the detachable tablet, and the Surface Book 3 looked to be a great option. And I wasn't wrong. On the plus side, the dedicated GPU is perfect for heavy duty photo editing as well as gaming on Steam, and even ran Oculus RIft games (though not necessarily at max resolution for either Steam or Rift games). And I still get the ability to detach the tablet and use it as a tablet, which is great. The keyboard is also much nicer than the type covers I've used on the Surface Pro and balances well on your lap, an issue I often had with the Pro. And the screen works well with the Pen that I had with my Pro. On the downside, I've found that the battery life of just the tablet is pretty limited (maybe 3 to 4 hours max) since the larger battery is in the keyboard. Also, you need to specifically tell the computer to use the the dedicated GPU for certain programs since the auto option isn't very good and certain programs won't use it at all unless you force it to. That being said, I really like this computer. It's the perfect combo of power, portability, and having a touchscreen tablet.

Best tool for college- Microsoft Surface Book 3
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.2nd Surface Pro for our daughter. 1st one got here through 2 years of high school and 2 years of college. She thinks this one is even better. She runs AutoCad, and other engineering design programs as works to earn here degree in Mechanical engineering. She says the system is fast, able to handle the programs, work great as a tablet, and is perfect for going from class to work.
