The Surface Pro is a fantastic mobile productivity device. I use it for everything from games to MS Office, my wife uses it as a Home Health nurse to record patient notes and data in her company's web service. While it does not have built in 4G, it works great with phone/hotspot (as my wife demonstrated filing all of her paperwork while we drove to a party 3 hours upstate). The stylus is absolutely fantastic and drawing and writing with it works excellently. Windows 8 is fantastic in that it auto discovers and installs wireless printers as well. Boot time on the device is seconds My only complaint with the Surface Pro is something that all ultrabook laptops have as well (and the Surface Pro is more comparable to an ultrabook than tablet); short battery life.

I was in need of a replacement laptop, and we use the 2nd generation Surfaces where I work. I actually like the first generation a lot better. Although a little heavier, the Surface is very portable, and can be connected to a printer (even a wireless). The battery does not have a long life, but I have been able to work through that. If you are looking for something smaller and portable, this is a great choice! I also purchased the touch keyboard to attach which works well.

This tablet is really the best thing I've handled. As a tech junkie I've used tablets from the iPad to android to blackberry playbook. This thing by far blows them all out of the water. First off, it can load any program to it. It has an app store, but you really don't need it at all since it will load and play anything. If you look at the numbers, it's a great deal. No other tablet comes close to having the capabilities this one has. Not even close. It DOES have somewhat short battery life. It gets about 5 hours of continuous use at most on a full charge. It's also not something you NEED to buy if you only use your computer for surfing the internet. If you want to use full programs and have access to a USB port to add storage you CAN NOT beat it. couldn't be more happy with it unless it got me an extra couple hours or battery life.

I love this tablet I am a college studentand I transport it back and forth to class. It is just like carrying an extra note book in your bag. Another plus is being able to take notes on it as well as write this review that you are reading right now. The pen and handwriting comprehension is excellent. The one problem That I do have with the tablet is the price. 900 wouldn't be as bad if you didn't have to buy office as well as the key board to go along with it. Other then that I would recommend the Surface Pro to a student or to an other person that is looking for a portable computer.

This device is so much more satisfying for me than the iPad. The Surface Pro is powerful and has a snappy response. It provides the features and programs necessary for me to do business, and yet it has the ability to be used for entertainment, with games and movie and TV streaming. I am looking forward to software improvements that will come with Windows 8.1 and beyond, and expansion of the existing selection of applications . The only downsides I can find are the somewhat poor sound quality, which isn't important if you use headphones, the relatively limited app library, and the device becomes heavy when holding it for an extended period of time. Otherwise, its fantastic.

I would recommend this product to someone who doesn't want to carry around a big laptop but still have the capabilities of the laptop. You are able to load information onto it using a flash drive, attach an external keyboard when needed, and the stylus pen is great for working with documents instead of having to use the keyboard to cut, paste, or erase. As for apps it does not have all the ones that you would find on your phone and I wasn't pleased with most of the ones I've tried. The sound quality is not the best unless you use head phones. I have not used it for gaming but mostly for documents, iTunes, photos, Kindle reader, and to work with multiple windows open.

Let me start by saying that I love my Surface Pro. I got the 128GB drive option. It works great as both a small laptop and as a tablet. As a software developer, I am able to perform software development, running all of my common tools and software. But I'm also able to quickly pull the tablet and be off and browsing, reading documents, and viewing videos. The system is very responsive. The screen looks great. I got the type keyboard, which works very nicely. The pen works great. It runs all my software. Battery life is not great. Without power, battery life is around 5 hours (give or a take a little). I don't find it largely limiting, but it can be a concern for some.

This is now one of my most favorites light-weight computers, which is perfect for doing actual work while traveling or taking to meetings/conferences. The screen is amazingly bright and has much more clarity than the Apple MacBook. The battery life is not as long as the MacBook Air, but for most purposes, the battery lasts about 5-6 hours with fairly heavy use. Once you become familiar with the new Windows 8 desktop and learn to swipe to the Apps section, it really does improve productivity. The Windows 8.1 version is a definite improvement but hunting for some common tasks that were learned years ago on previous Windows versions can slow you down sometimes. In general, I was pleasantly surprised with this computer. Microsoft has a winner here and it should get even better with later updates to the graphic interfaces. Setting up the network features was a breeze. I would recommend buying a type cover in order to make this a more productive device for work.

I bought the Microsoft Surface Pro because the iPad just wasn't very productive at work. The Surface is a much better tablet for work related stuff because it has a full Intel i5 processor in it, and not an ARM or Atom based processor. Due to this, you can run all of your old Windows programs rather than having to rebuy everything from an app store. The battery life is only about 4 to 5 hours, but that's because of a good processor and the fan to cool it. It helps to have a second power cord at work, but they are somewhat expensive at around $80.

Although the Surface Pro has a big price tag, it is still the best computing device I have ever purchased. The Surface Pro is easy to setup and is perfect for someone who would like a tablet, but needs the full functionality of a laptop. Although this device is the best tablet on the market currently, I just wish the internal speakers were a bit stronger and the battery life was more the 5hrs for the price. All in all, I'd still recommend it and give it 4 1/2 stars.

Ive had this for a couple of months now and I think its a great fit for me. I like that it can do all the stuff my laptop does and that its way more portable. Its fast and well made but it does get a little hot when used. Overall its just what I was looking for and for $499 it was well worth it.

this device is a life saver, as a full time collage student and a worker, juggling the two become difficult. the surface pro has allowed me to keep up with my home work anywhere i am with out sacrificing sleep. the screen is big enough for me to draw comfortably and just the right size to have in and out the work place. the app store could use more of a selection as well but i can see that coming later as Microsoft grows in this filed. i love this thing so much, the only killer is the battery life, more time is needed with out a plug in. at least 6hrs......

Purchased this mainly for use as a very portable laptop, that I could easily take with me to classes & labs (Electrical Engineering Student). While I already own a good 14" Thinkpad laptop and a Nexus 7 tablet, the first is a bit much to haul to school with other books and notes, and the Nexus tablet doesn't offer much past web browsing and basic apps. I find the Surface Pro to be around just the right size (recommend using one in-store first to gauge whether you'll need a full-size laptop screen). For me the biggest selling feature was the built-in digitizer, and I've found it makes in-class note taking a breeze. Also the Type Cover is almost a must, with it I have no problems typing up reports, and it really makes it more like an ultra portable laptop. Overall, I'm very happy with the purchase, and considering this Pro 1 can usually be found at half the price of the newer Pro 2, I don't mind the slight processor/battery-life difference.

This is a great combo of a tablet and a laptop, especially with the add-on keyboards. With the ability to plug just about any device in using USB (including 3.0) and running windows native, there is finally no restriction on what a tablet can do. The device doesn't have enough touch-friendly apps just yet, and the weight is still way to high, but it is still a fantastic device, even as a laptop.

I'll keep this short and sweet. The price for what you get is maybe a tad high, especially when you factor in the optional (but almost required) type/touch pad, but I find it to be well worth it. This tablet screams with performance and being able to run any Windows program is the icing on the cake. I have experienced no lag with the system, switching between metro and/or desktop programs with ease. My only drawbacks are that the back of the tablet (top center) gets warm. It in no way burns you but if you play a game or do something CPU-intensive for a while, it's somewhat uncomfortable to hold it. Also, the built-in speakers are weak, the only time they are useful is if there is a minimum of background noise. Overall, I do not regret this purchase and recommend it to anyone with the want of a tablet and the need of running any Windows program they want.

Small like a tablet, although a bit heavy, and powerful like a computer the Surface has a lot going for it. As an online university professor and traveler this is the perfect combination for conducting business and reading an eBook. The downside is the price that does not include the keyboard or Office like the RT. The keyboard (sold separately) is thin, fits tightly and has a nice feel for typing. This synched easily with my Windows 8 Laptop & phone so I always have what I need when I need it. With the promise of an update for Windows 8 on the horizon the Surface should be a strong consideration. Microsoft might do well to bundle the Surface with a keyboard, sleeve and Office 365 with more attractive pricing.

If you are a digital artist and have been eye balling a cintq, then this is the perfect machine for you. Runs all the best drawing programs perfectly and the responsive stylus gives you a level of control not found in mouse and keyboard . Plus, the darn thing is sorta liked having a portable xbox . Plug in a xbox controlled , down load steam and start playing Skyrim. It will blow your mind

I love my surface. It is ultra portable. I wanted something capable of true online downloads for crafting use (Silhouette Cameo) and it works great for that. I love windows 8, and office 2013. My surface 128, detachable keyboard, and warranty cost about 1,200 bucks which is high. The battery life is about 4 hours which is terrible but I am rarely away from a power source.

I bought the 128 Gb Surface to use out of the office and wanted everything with me to carry on business. It does that and then some. Also have touch keyboard, since I prefer keys to a pad. Ordered extra 64Gb memory card and keep current data on it. Can add files to card and quickly take it along. Windows 8 works well, lack of drivers for older printers has been a pain. It is heavy as a tablet but a powerful fast computer which makes up for it. I like the quick boot up, the clear screen, and reasonable battery life. AC adapter cord is too short and magnetic cord attachment to computer can be awkward in low light. Pen is handy for highlighting and working on spreadsheets. Added 3.0USB Hub & Seagate 1 TB Backup Plus to have all files with me if needed. All Great products. Surface Support is excellent; the Tech's use the product and speak from experience, giving hints they've learned. A first for me with computers and software. Small carrying case added to take all with me, however I use the Surface and keyboard alone most of time. I found a lap desk handy for using it on my lap. It takes an adjustment to the heavy screen and light keyboard, exactly the opposite of a laptop.

This tablet/computer is great for on the road use for work. It can, at times, be heavy but that's only comparing to other tablets. Remote desktop works very well even when working from WiFi on an airplane. Great battery life which is key when working from the road.
