There is really not much I can say about the Pro 3 that hasn't been said already. Superb quality, great performance, ultimate portability,... somewhat steep price :) It works great and I love it

First, I was supposed to get 6 months interest-free financing from BB but they screwed up their processing and I had to get it paid with a different CC -- so I have no love for BB. Second, this just isn't a good compromise between tablet and laptop. It is too small to use as a laptop, it has very finicky hardware that likes to have a mind of its own (like randomly resetting user settings and customizations), Windoze 8.1 is nothing more (nor less) than Vista III -- it never should have seen the light of day (and, no, I am not rushing into the last windows ever in 10), the power supply 'magnet' comes off too easily and the cord is too short, the darn screen is hard to read and it doesn't take well to re-sizing without screwing up icons and the keyboard is lousy (as in unreliable even when you manage to directly hit the keys -- which is rather hard if you're a trained typist, like me). The thing gets incredibly hot and the 'cooling fan' tends to run very loudly and for a very long time even when the unit is powered down (an acknowledge problem from the early days of the Surface and MS claims to have fixed it -- but not in my experience). Among the biggest annoyances is that I don't have access to the file systems as I would in a normal pc so I can't tweak or debug half the stuff that goes wrong.
Okay. It's small. It's lightweight but, in retrospect, there were several better (and cheaper) laptops that would have served me better and for which I would have happily paid in full to by-pass the whole BB cc snafu.
To be completely fair, I'm an uber-power user with decades of PC and Computing experience at all levels of programming and systems work. My standards are high -- but, quite frankly, I bought into the hype and didn't do an honest enough job assessing how I would use this -- so now I'm stuck with it. I would NOT recommend it or BB to my worst enemy.

Love my Surface Pro 3, replaced both my laptop and Ipad with one great device. Super fast boot up and down. Quite, and reliable. Basically a laptop with all of the benefits of a tablet. Extremely portable! I do sales and I am constantly on the run. The Surface Pro 3 is perfect! Did I mention the dock for home use....

Best In Class

The Surface Pro 3 is the absolute best product of its type out there. Fast and stable and unlike Android devices or Apple products, it does absolutely everything. From advanced numerical modeling to graphics to CAD to content consumption (i.e., web browsing and reading online information), this thing does it all. My only concern so far, having only owned this device for about a week is that it seems to run hot. I certainly hope this does not reduce the useable life of the device. That said, Speedfan temperatures for the two cores never get above about 65C.

Overheats and makes noise

Fast. Sharp picture/video, but it overheats! Microsoft has an excellent customer service, and I was told that they will do an update to solve the overheating and loud fan noise. Can an online update really resolve these issues? (I'm not knowledgeable on computer tech). The Microsoft customer service rep said that the overheating/fan noise has something to do with "such a small and thin notebook with i7 in it." I'll wait for a few more weeks to see if Microsoft will do an update that would really solve these issues. If not, I have to return this and probably get a different brand instead.

Great replacement for a laptop. Powerful enough to replace a laptop while adding the lightweight convenience.

We've used a number of different options in our labs and classrooms. The Surface 3 is an outstanding compromise for computing power, flexibility and portability. We got the I7 with max RAM/SSD and it continues to impress with its capabilities.

Great tablet I have owned

I have previously owned two iPads, one Samsung Galaxy 7" tab, one Asus HD7 tablet and one first Surface RT. But Surface Pro 3 is a class of it's own. I sold my laptop a month after I bought SP3, because I hadn't touched it in a whole month. This truely replaced my laptop. Next planning to sell my iPad, Galaxy, etc, since I have no use left for them as well. My family room will have fewer screens now.
I absolutely recommend this tablet for Work and web surfing, but not for small game apps from store. On the other hand, you can actually play some good graphics heavier desktop games on it. Installed Warcraft and Command & Conquer.

The laptop is dead, long live the Surface Pro!

I bought this day one for my wife. The goal was to replace her laptop and Surface Pro 1. That goal was met.
The i7 512 GB is quite expensive. But I wanted to ensure there would be no issues for her having a single device and to never go back to her laptop again. Plus, with it being lightweight, thinner, and longer battery life, I wanted her to get more use out of this than the Surface Pro 1 which sometimes can be a bother. Especially with the new kickstand design, I knew she'd be using it a lot more wherever she goes, and she is... and on top of that she can't get enough of the larger screen size.
Because her Surface Pro 3 was so great, I went out and got myself an i5 256 (I wanted the 8 GB of RAM over the HD space). That's how much faith I have in this device.
Back to the i7, it doesn't get too hot. All the ways you can move the kickstand around makes it easy to never have any of the hot surfaces touching you when use on your lap. The new type keyboard is great too. I ended up getting the red one for myself, but she chose the Best Buy blue for herself. I'm not a real fan of touchpads as I prefer the stick/eraser. But the touchpad on the Surface Pro 3 works real well with the ability to push down or tap to click as well as all the gesture supports.
We'll be ordering the docking station soon for it. She also got the Arc Touch Mouse Surface Edition which works real well.
Lastly, the build quality is just excellent on this thing. It feels great. Microsoft did a great job with it.

I purchase the Surface Pro 3 with the Intel Core i7 and 512GB SSD to use with apps such as Visual Studio 2013 and Adobe Creative Cloud, Photoshop CC, Illustrator CC etc. With the forthcoming docking station the Surface Pro 3 will be replacing both my laptop and desktop PC's!

I bought this for my husband as he wanted a tablet/laptop that he could use for work that would allow him to use Outlook, Word and Excell a well as his accounting software. The Surface Pro can do all of it. I originally bought the 256GB but returned it for the 512GB as I wanted to be sure there would be enough space. It has frozen once since he's owned it but I'm sure that future updates will resolve this issue.

I had been so frustrated with my Dell XP for awhile. It was heavy and a drag to carry around. I gotta say that the commercials for the Surface sucked me right in. It was the ability to run the full PS CS on it that sealed the deal. I have not had any issues with this at all! I highly recommend this!

This product was designed to handle big applications. This product was not designed for games but it still looks amazing. I do not recommend the pro 3 because it's overpriced I'll give 2 stars cause of the ram is the only good thing but I do recommend the ssinf galaxy tab S cause the graphics are amazing and it had more setting and u can customize it so don't waste 2000 on the pro 3 it's not worth the money.

I purchased not only ONE but TWO "LEMONS"

I was really looking forward to buying the surface Pro 3. I paid for it and patiently awaited 3 to 4 weeks for shipping.
I'm 65 years old and retired yet..... I was as happy as a child in a candy store waiting for this product to arrive.
Once I received it, the Surface Pro 3 was everything I had hoped for!
The problem was that it lasted approximately a week to a week and a half before it started to "freeze up", hum very loudly and the picture was dark.
I took it back to Best Buy and after the "Geek Squad" examined it they took it back and ordered a replacement.
It took approximately 10 days for it to arrive. The "Brand-New" replacement tablet lasted approximately one week before it also started to hum very loudly and it also "froze up".
I should also mention that the "NEW" tablet would not work in the "docking station"!
Best Buy replaced the docking station but the "NEW" station was deemed to be defective by the Geek Squad!
The people at Best Buy were extremely courteous and helpful. They gave me a refund for everything without any questions asked.
I am more than a little surprised that I purchased not only one but two "LEMONS" in a row!
I really had my heart set on the Surface Pro 3!
I think that I'm going to wait 60 to 90 days before trying it again.
I would give Best Buy a five-star rating for their help and their positive attitude. From what little use I got out of the product I would give the Surface Pro a five star rating! That being said ......I would give the actual Surface Pro 3 "one star" because both of them "crashed"!

It wouldn't turn on for hours at a time when the battery was fully charged. I had a hard time connecting to wifi when it was on. Geek squad told me they saw a bunch of similar issues with Surface. Best Buy wouldn't return it since I owned it over 2 weeks. Super bummed because I spent almost $2,000!

If it was $400, you'd have a winner, but for this price you can get much better.
