    Awesome controller

I was hesitant to buy this controller at first due to the price tag. I literally did months of thinking before purchasing. When I saw it go on sale for $54.99 I figured it was time to jump on it. This was a great purchase without a doubt. The play and charge kit will make the controller pay for itself over time since you will no longer need to buy AA batteries. It charges quite quickly, and will hold the charge for 35 hours. I do also like the option of using batteries if you please - it comes with the standard "back" that you can fill with 2 AA batteries. The transforming d-pad is neat, but I don't use that for many games. Like I've read from some other customers, it is fun to play with while waiting for games to load, etc. The analog sticks have been designed very nicely on this. Instead of the little "dots" at 12/3/6/9, the analog sticks have a small "lip" on the outer edge, and then recess into the rest of the stick. The color combination is fantastic in my opinion. It's very sleek looking controller, without being too over the top. And trust me - it looks even better in person. I do also like how the d-pad has a "chrome" finish to it - looks very nice. Overall, this is a great controller. Will it make you a better gamer? Probably not. Will you regret paying more money for this controller? No. The first few times you use it you will be happy with your purchase. It's comfortable, great looking and the play and charge kit will pay for itself over time. If you're looking to replace a controller, or add another one - this is the one to get. I will be getting another one of these soon.

The Dpad broke off within 10 days of owning.

I was just playing trials hd and had the dpad in the raised, cross position when it just clean snapped off the face of the controller when i pushed right. upon looking i noticed only one hollow, brittle seeming rod of plastic was attaching the dpad to the whole rotating mechanism. still, the controller was an improvement over the older style hands down with the raised dpad style. i use the dpad quite often so more durability would be nice. the switch back to my old dpad was a letdown after the new one broke. maybe it was a fluke though. if your controller works and you're not a fighting game fanatic or user of games that you feel require the precision of the dpad, i would say don't bother upgrading until your old controller breaks. and i still think it should have a wired version as well because while wireless is nice, the battery pack in the back of the controller degrades the overall comfort in my opinion.

Great controller for the begginer or vetran

This is a great controller for anyone who games. If you're a begginer or a vetran gamer, this controller is right for you. Everything about it is amazing. From the awesome design of silver and black, to the great, long-lasting quality of the controller, it's a great piece of work. The only 2 flaws i've experienced with this controller, and note i've had it for about a year now; if you have a turtle beach headset and are charging this controller, it makes an eerie buzzing noise. The other problem is after about a year, you need a new battery, which is 100% understandable. Either way you can still use the 2 double A batteries that most controllers use. This controller is great!

    Best wireless controller

Nice slight upgrade over the previous 360 controller. Switching the D-pad functionality is a cool feature although I don't have occasion to use it myself. The silver livery is more appealing IMO. Also nice for me is the lack of ridges on the thumbsticks. They can become irritating during long game play sessions on the standard controller. The only thing I would really change if I could would be to give it the same rubberized matte texture that's found on the COD wired controller. I'd rather have the wireless though, so this one is my primary controller now.

    Great deal for hardcore gamers

I've had this product for a couple months and I love it. I wouldn't be surprised if this became the standard for future xbox controllers. The new thumbstick design adds to the sensitivity of tiny motions. The Transforming D-pad works well, but isn't a huge improvement over the previous design. The controller feels comfortable even after hours of play and has improved my reaction time in FPS games by enough to be worth the purchase. However, if you are a new gamer, you won't notice any difference, so you might as well go with the cheaper option.

    NOT ACTUALLY THE SILVER MODEL

    AmazonFTW

I've been looking around for the special edition, silver matte controller that is described. This website said it was available at my local Best Buy, so I went during my lunch break and it turns out they didn't have it. Was told to order from online and that it would be the correct one because it ships directly from the warehouse. Well, guess what. It wasn't the correct color, even though this ad says "Special-edition matte silver color". After reading the other reviews, I see this has happened to others as well. Never ordering from Best Buy online or actual store ever again. Amazon ftw.

This is the same controller for the xbox by microsoft. It only looks different (I think looks better) than the others with one exception: The D-Pad can be rotated out and up so that diagnal moves and full 360 moves are easier. I have no use for this functionality, nor do I even notice the difference when playing Mortal Kombat using the D pad in this position as opposed to the recessed position. I just don't get it, but no reason to rate it badly. Just thankful this new "functionality" doesn't cost more than one without it.

Like previous buyers, i also went to my local (3) best buys to buy the SILVER EDITION. I noticed there SKU and model number (silver matte edition, QFF-00005) on the shelf was different from what was stocked (black edition QFF-00009). All 3 best buys gave the same response.. Thats what we have on our system but if you buy it online, they will give you the correct controller. As you already know this was not the case. For a controller that's worth almost $70, you would think they would fix this mistake. Returning and buying it also on Amazon.

The texture is a little different...not quite smooth. My hands, if a little sweaty aren't affected that much. The knobs and buttons feel good and responsive, and maybe the top buttons are a little different, but all good- nothing is worse. Not really sold on the whole d-pad thing....didn't really figure that part out....seems like the d-pad turns and pops back out if you have it in the "recessed" position. Anyway, seems like it's raised a little more for its "normal" position, which is good. I needed a new controller and it was on sale, and it is just a little bit better than the standard wireless controller.

This is a solid controller for the XBOX 360. The D-Pad is responsive as are the analog sticks and the controller fits well in the palm of your hand. I like the wireless fundtinality, that way you're not tethered to the console by a wire and you don't have to have it pointed right at the console for it to work. You can be off to the side and it'll still respond. This gives you the freedom to find a comfortable distance from the TV. The controller is soldily built and durable, a must for a gaming controller. If you own an XBOX 360, I strongly recommend getting this controller.

I have had this for about a year and have played roughly 500 hours on it. I love the silver paint finish on the controller. The paint gives you a better grip even if your hands get a little damp compared to the slippery plastic feel of the original controllers. The thumb sticks are also much better giving you more control and are more comfortable. The D-Pad is cool but I play mostly COD so the only time I use it is to call in my kill-streak.

    Fantastic Upgrade

I have been using this controller for almost a month, and I love the little tweaks Microsoft made. The analog sticks have more depth in the center, eliminating the problem of fingers slipping off of the analog stick during intense play. The adjustable d-pad is a prize within itself if you are opposed to the original controllers, and the color scheme breaks away from the mundane feeling of using the same generic controller. With the addition of a lengthy play-and-charge kit, this bundled controller was all I needed.

    Great Controller

Controller is fantastic and Best Buy matched the $51.99 price of a competitor without hesitation. *The ability to adjust D-pad is great for my wife's Sims game. Doesn't really affect any of the games I play. *Chargeable battery and cord is great, I hate using and buying batteries. *Can go wired and continue to play while battery is charging. *Does come with the ability to use batteries if one wishes. (Why someone would want to is a bit of a mystery.) Awesome, well made controller by Microsoft. Can't beat it.

    DPad Is fragile

At first glance the controller is a very sleek and unique. The silver and crome make the controller very attractive. It is pretty expensive when i purchased it was around 60 dollars that's more than a new game! Any way since I play fighting games I tend to use the dpad. The main reason why I wanted this controller was for this function. One day the dpad part just broke off rendering the Dpad useless and a pain.

Its ok, i like being able to charge it when im not playing it but i dont like how it makes a buzzing sound in your mic when your in a party charging your battery while playing, thats the only downfall..the buzzing its really annoying in party and to my friends in the party, so i had to turn off my console, wait for it to charge, an then play again, so its good if your not gonna be talking to anyone in game or in party but its annoying in party.

    Buttons stick after 3 months

At first I loved the controller and would recommend it to you instantly. I used this controller for probably 3 months now. I play with it regularly but just recently ALL of the buttons started sticking, even the Xbox button. If you buy this controller be sure to get the 6 month warranty, cause there is a good chance it will happen to you too. I failed to do so. But over all save yourself the trouble and find a different controller.

The joysticks are different than the usual controller in a very good way. Had to replace my controller after a soda incident and and have been very pleased with this one. Was expecting a standard controller and was very pleasantly surprised with the how the subtle differences in the joysticks lead to a better feel.

New d pad makes a difference

Bought this on a impulse buy. The new d pad does make a difference when playing FPS games.Actually it a took a few minutes to get used to it. I found myself clicking to far when I first used it because it seems more sensitive. My only complaint is it comes packed with the play and charge.I guess I can always use a new battery tho'

I got this controller on sale when one of my controllers AND my play and charge cable died. I like the transforming D pad and the fact that it was everything I needed in one package. The only bad thing was that the battery pack for the first controller was DOA, maybe sitting on the shelve so long killed it? Anyway I exchanged the whole thing for a new one and I couldn't be happier.

This is a great new version of the xbox 360 controller. The D pad can switch from the traditional D pad on the 360 or to a more classic version of a "Plus" directional pad. Also the joy sticks are updated and have a better feel to them. The play and charge kit that is included is a must if you are playing for long periods of time.
