After about 500 feet, it's almost impossible to hear anything. Even in the house they have problems if someone is on the 2nd floor and the other person is in the basement.

We live in a rural area and my wife drove 2 miles down the road and that was about the extend of where anything would come through. I cannot even imagine in a city setting how close you would have to be. Very dissapointed

Posted .The FRS radios average 1/2 to 1 mile in normal conditions. If there are obstructions the range will be on the lower end. If you are not happy with the performance or the radios or you feel they are malfunctioning reach out to support@midlandusa.com

||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.The range is not 28 miles. I’m 5 miles behind a lead car on open country and they can’t hear us. Build quality is great, and this is the size I was looking for. It’s better as a toy for kids however.

Posted .The range is relative to the obstacles around you. On an open field, or water the range is greater.
Urban development may reduce the range to 2 miles or less. If you are in a tall building the range is about 20 floors.

Posted .There are many factors that go into the range. Line of site, hills, interference from power lines other radio bands etc. If you have any issues Midland support is available at 816-241-8500 M-F 8am-4:30pm CT.
