Trees and buildings do limit range, however. The battery indicator is not reliable but they hold a charge for a long time, certainly for a day of use.

I also thought about using them when going on long trips and I could give one to a friend so we could communicate. I've tested them out and they work quite well. So far I'm pretty pleased with my purchase.
