So lately I've been spending a good chunk of time in this DLC, and I'm here to share the scoop, so if you're a fan of the base game and have been itching for a new adventure, you're probably wondering if this icy expansion is worth your time and money... Let's just say it's a bit of a mixed bag, but generally, it's a fun ride with a few bumps along the way, the whole premise is pretty cool, a mysterious winter force is taking over, and it's up to you to brave the cold and put a stop to it, the new levels are a real treat visually, think snow covered forests, icy caverns, and chilling dungeons that really pull you into the winter wonderland vibe, they're a nice change of pace from the original game's scenery, and honestly, they're pretty well crafted, but I did find myself wishing they were a tad longer, because if you are a player that tends to speed run, you might blow through them quicker than you'd expect. But let's talk enemies, this DLC throws some new baddies your way, like the illusioner and the iceologer, the illusioner is a tricky one, creating clones to confuse you, which definitely keeps you on your toes, the iceologer on the other hand, slows you down with its icy attacks, making escape a real challenge. Personally I enjoyed the added difficulty, but I can see how it might be frustrating for more casual players or those going solo, it's definitely a test of patience and skill, that's for sure, and then there's the new gear and artifacts, which are always a highlight in these expansions, we're talking ice themed weapons like the frost scythe and the winter's touch bow, and artifacts like the ice wand that lets you summon icy spikes, they add some cool new ways to play and customize your character, tt might take a little while, and a fair bit of luck, to grind for the perfect load out, but it is enjoyable if you're into that sort of thing. I am a player who loves exploring every nook and cranny, and if you do too then the replayability factor is decent, especially with the procedurally generated elements and daily challenges, its also worth noting that the DLC integrates seamlessly with the main game, so you can take your new toys back into the original levels. Now, how does it run on the Switch? Mostly smooth, I'd say, load times are reasonable, and it looks great whether you're playing handheld or docked, but there were a few times when the frame rate dipped a bit, especially when things got hectic on screen, but it wasn't a deal breaker for me, Mojang's been pretty good about updates, so hopefully, those kinks will continue to get ironed out, on the downside, as I mentioned before, the new levels can feel a bit short, especially for the price, so if you're someone who likes to speed through content, you might find yourself finishing it quicker than you expected, but if you enjoy replaying levels to perfect your gear and skills, there is enough to keep you entertained for a while, if you're looking for a ton of content, you might want to wait for a sale or a bundle deal.
