Monster Hunter 4 is an excellent next addition to the Monster hunter series. The inclusion of new weapons, monsters and new central town are great and make me want to spend another 200 hours on this game after spending just as many on the last.

This game has a stronger story than previous versions while also improving on the already solid game play of the series. It has devoured hours of my life and I will continue playing it for months to come. Gret graphics and solid gameplay but be warned this game does require a steep learning curve.

The Monster Hunter series has never been exceptionally mainstream in North America, and it's never really blown anyone away with its concepts, but that doesn't mean its ever been a bad franchise. In its latest installment, found exclusively on the Nintendo 3DS, where titles before it have been found on the PSP, PS2, Wii, and Wii U, the series follows essentially the same formula as its predecessor; you're apart of a traveling guild of monster hunters, you pick a class, and take up quests to go and slay creatures of a grand scale. There variety of classes to choose from, from sword and shield, to dual swords, to great sword to bowgun, to heavy rifle to charge axe. There's a wide variety here meaning there's something for everyone to use or something to mix it up with when you grow bored with your current class, as classes can be changed at anytime between quests. The quests themselves vary, from fetch quests, to slaying a specific number of smaller monsters to slaying a single enormous beast of a monster. The quests can start to feel repetitive as there's only so much variety to the structure of the mission as well as available locations, but the easy to learn, hard to master combat coupled with online play make them manageable. There's lots of quests to complete both solo and offline as well in a group and online. There's plenty to, and all of the various materials you gain from completing objectives can be used to craft a myriad of different armors, gear, tools and so forth that you'll redoing objectives several times or find yourself completing others to get what you need. There's plenty to do and experience and hours and hours to pour in, especially for a handheld title, however the repetitive structure, and lack of customization features with some things may leave some desiring more like a console title such as Elder Scrolls

An amazing game with tons to do. Single player can be cleared fast, but online is where you'll get your money's worth. With plenty of weapons and outfits to craft you'll be hunting for hours and hours. Finally a game that uses WiFi rather than only local ad hoc.

This game still feels like monster hunter, but is approved upon in every good way from its last installment.
Cut scenes are fantastic. The gameplay has evolved with new mechanics. The variety in worlds and bosses is even better.
The game is full of content!

I purchased this game for two reasons. Got a great deal, and it got 5 star reviews almost everywhere.
When it comes to games it is all personal preferences, so keep that in mind that what I write is my own opinion.
Pros:
Graphics - Best looking game on the system by far...at least in my library
Fighting - Going out for the hunt is lots of fun.
Lots of content.
Neutral:
Menu is fine but not great.
Some fighting can be redundant. Not always a bad thing.
Bad:
That darn Cat - I was told I didn't have to play with the darn thing, but already had.
Hand Holding - or lack there of. The game did a terrible job of showing you the controls and how to navigate. Took me a while to figure things out. It would be nice for them to have spend a little time guiding you for new players.
I would recommend this game. Don't let my comment deter you from a good game. Something can be good and overrated at the same time, and Monster Hunter 4 is one of those games. I would give it a 7 out of 10.

I just got into monster hunter but it's pretty fun and playing online with friends is great! There's a few things I had to learn from a minster hunter veteran since the game didn't explain it and there isn't really any story

This is my first MH game that I play but I can say it's definitely fun. You get to go on different missions, gather supplies, slay all sorts of monsters, upgrade your equipment, make new swords, etc. Personally, I think it's more fun when playing with someone else. And not to mention it makes fighting the monsters a tad bit easier. There's some monsters that you're better off defeating in multiplayer than by yourself. If you like adventure games where you're constant upgrading your player and gear, this is the game for you. Don't forget, Nintendo also offers extra downloadable content and missions to get new stuff at no cost. Aside from free stuff, there are also other premium items you can buy with Nintendo money.

It's an excellent game. There are weapon training 'quests' for newbies to the series or you can dive right in to the monster hunting action.
I myself am a newbie to the series and so learning the tricks and playstyle of the various weapons seemed a bit daunting but the weapons training helped me figure out what really was the best fit for me.
I haven't gotten too deep into the game as of yet, but the graphics are amazing and it's pretty fun overall. I have a first gen 3DS and so I can't speak to the improvements the new 3DS adds, but I can say for certain having the other circle control for easy camera movement would be awesome!

It's like Dark Souls but focused on boss battles, so many weapons and armor sets to collect and use to fight Monsters of all shapes and sizes.
