This is one heck of a game. If you really enjoy fun than this game is for you. It is easier to get into than the last installment of the series and it is a blast to play online or locally with friends. I highly recommend Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate

If I ever end up in the news for doing something horrible, it will probably be because of this game. The level of frustration and difficulty is pretty high sometimes. That being said, this series always impresses me because its such a vast and complex game, for the 3DS platform. The game goes on forever almost. The solo and online experiences are equally great too. I like that this game's dialog doesn't take its self to seriously and has character. Some people might find it repetitive, but there is a lot variation to its simplicity.

This is one of the most entertaining games if all you want to do is smash monsters or ride them like a rodeo bull. And more importantly to me you can play with your friends something that is severely lacking in many modern games. Worth buying

Monster Hunter! A game franchise that has been around for the past 15 or so years as of this review. The gist of the game is this. You, as a "monster hunter", are tasked with taking down or capturing some of the deadliest creatures to roam the fictional world. You are given a choice of weaponry, ranging from the Great Sword to the Heavy Bowgun for the ranged fighter. You'll find yourself facing against monsters such as the relatively easy Great Jaggi to the tougher, meaner monsters such as the Brute Tigrex or Black Gravios.... Or even worse... However! As you hunt and travel, you will come across a wide variety or materials that you can use to bolster your defenses, heal yourself, monster traps or even build new weapons and armor! Most armor sets in this game are based off the monsters you come across so you may find yourself fighting them over multiple times to get what you need. Armor is unique in that they grant specific bonuses such as extra attack power or the ability to negate the loud roars of certain monsters, which will cause your character to freeze momentarily. The game's difficulty stems from the fact that your character isn't very mobile when using the heavier weapons although it is possible to defend with some of them, the Great Sword and Sword and Shield being notable examples, and with faster weapons like the Dual Blades, you give up defensive ability in exchange for being a monster killing machine. Either way, the monsters are no joke, especially when enraged. Enraged monsters attack faster and significantly harder and makes them tougher to avoid altogether, as they can strike in quick succession and get you "carted". "Carting" is a term affectionately used by the Monster Hunter community to describe the act of fainting (your health bar running out and being carted back to your base camp). Faint three times in any given quest and it is game over for you, but you can always get right back to the action, after replenishing your supplies! All in all, this is a great game for the "hardcore" gamer. The in-game tutorials are much more informative this time around compared to previous entries but I wouldn't recommend to those who are easily frustrated or lack the patience this game will require.

I love this game. I haven't game to far into it, but I love games where you grind gear to fight the next big monster. It might not be for everyone, but if you are at least a little curious about this game, you should definitely give it a try.

While I will actually miss underwater fights, the level design impacting monster hunting opportunities has hit a new level. With great story improvements and new weapons to experiment with, this game is a must own for any Monster Hunter fan.

This is one of the best in the series , the added gameplay elements add a new aspects to the game. Keeps most of the key aspects just updating them ,like the monsters moving more fluid and at times you might get surprise from their attacks.

This game is just as good if not better then monster hunter 3. If you play solo or coop you will have a great experience. However if a little learning curve and what could be confusing menus is not your forte may want to try demo first.

If you don't like Monster Hunter, this game isn't going to change your mind, but the inclusion of mounting monsters, taking out of underwater combat, and number of quality of life upgrades makes this the most fun MH game I've played.

It is incredible how much content is within this $30 game. Be warned, it can be pretty overwhelming how much there is going on. If is a very deep rpg with an incredible amount of content. I would recommend watching a few getting started videos. And don't waste a ton on time with some of the early optional quests., and focus on the monsters. They are a ton of fun and it is incredible how many different unique monsters there are. Also ,the online multiplayer is great and works with basically no lag

So far I've played about 65 hours and only one character. I'm enjoying it quite a bit and even more fun when grouped with friends. The learning curve can be a bit steep if this is your first time playing a game in the series.

I have never played a MH game prior to the demo of MH4U on the 3DS. The demo impressed me and I picked up the game. If I had to explain the solo hunts, it feels a lot like an MMO but on singleplayer mode. I guess that makes is a MSO. Regardless, it is wonderful to actually hunt and track these beasts across the map, get your butt whooped, run screaming... only to steel your nerves and return to battle better prepared a second time. The satisfaction of toppling a great monster and wearing gear from that monster is wonderful. Even as a noob to the series I feel this is very approachable, but there is a lot to learn and it takes time to get up to the "hunting" aspect. Take your time and complete each weapon quest to find what fits your play style.

If you have played any of the monster hunter series this is very similar. Some new additions to the game are jumping on the monsters backs and taking them down, also 2 new weapons, new status, cool FREE dlc.

This game is great time with friends. It doesn't stray too far from the monster hunter formula but the improvements are welcomed. The two new weapons are also a lot of fun. Another gem of a game for 3ds.
