Really enjoying MH: Rise so far. I have about 50 hours played and can honestly say I've been having more fun than in previous titles. There's a lot that changes the MH formula while keeping things very MH. The addition of the Palamute is awesome, though maybe a little OP. Especially when we also got the wire bug. All the new monsters are memorable and fun to fight. The new Rampage mode is also a cool addition that again, feels very MH. Overall a great new title and I can't wait to see what's in store for content updates.

Best Monster Hunter Titles to Date!

One of the best Monster Hunter experience to date. Easily one of capcom's best Nintendo Switch games designed for the Switch from the ground up. It has great looking gameplay and smooth frame rate throughout in portable/docked. The new wirebug mechanic offers new gameplay experience options while fighting some of the newly menacing monsters added to Rise, or just exploring the new open zones. It's a must have if you own a switch and/or love Monster Hunter!

If you’ve played Monster Hunter World, you’ll feel right at home. Rise takes most of World’s formula and expands upon it. The game looks as good as you’d expect for being on the Switch and runs well in both handheld and docked modes. If you haven’t played a Monster Hunter game before, Rise can serve as a good entry point and will appeal to players who enjoy boss fight-type encounters and grinding for rewards.

Super fun game! Wheatley you’re a newcomer and an expert, Monster Hunter Rise is a wonderful and enticing game for all! You can choose to take on quests which lasts about 10 to 30 minutes (max 50 mins) taking down ferocious monsters that attack your dear village, or you can take on quests with friends by collecting and exploring the many landscapes! The best part is that more content is to come!

Best way to get into Monster Hunting

This was my first Monster Hunter game, and I am so glad I took the plunge! I have a friend who just bought a Nintendo Switch and we both bought this game so that we could play it together. I don't play a lot of online games, but I think other than Smash Bros and Mario Kart, Monster Hunter Rise is one of the best online games to play. I tried the demos for both Monster Hunter games on the switch and really struggled with both of them, but starting the game from the beginning is much easier. Rise is the shortest game in the series, but once the new Sunbreak DLC comes out, it will be a much bigger game. The single player campaign isn't hard, but the multiplayer section is much more difficult, but you can play with up to 4 players. The game loop is very addictive! And be prepared to discover things on your own, the game give a little explanation at the beginning. An awesome game once you get the hang of it!

This review is coming from someone who's tried to get into Monster Hunter, but never got it. Until now. I love how customizable your avatar is in this game. Kinda like in standard RPGs you must keep upgrading your armor and weapons. but in this case you upgrade by continuously slaying the same monsters over again to gather materials. there in lies the main fun of this game, to strategize and become the best hunter you can be. What really makes this game more of fun time is playing with multiple people. Which I am sad to say this version of the game does NOT crossplay connect to the pc version. Missed opportunity. But if you have a friend or NSO you'll be able to find people. Graphic/Aesthetic wise the game is beautiful, Capcom really tapped into the Nintendo philosophy of artistical liberties on older hardware. I also admit I love the Japanese culture inspirations Capcom put in this time. I liked how the older games had a western/fantasy feel to their aesthetic, and what not, but here it just feels like the developers really leaned into their own culture for ideas(the shrine sisters, Ninja/Samurai garments, old Japanese style buildings.) 9/10 great game.

This is the first Monster Hunter game that has really hooked me. It's still very complex but accessible enough for newcomers. As someone who loves character customization, I love to get into crafting new armor sets and making myself look The graphics are shockingly good and when there's a lot going on on-screen, it still runs smoothly.

This entry in the series takes everything that was good about Monster Hunter World, mostly quality of life stuff, and adds very unique gameplay to keep it interesting. The variety of moves you can pull off with the new Wirebug mechanics are amazing. Definitely enjoy the game, its just good old fashioned monster hunting.

Logged over 100 hours into the game now, and it still feels like there's more to do. The game has been streamlined and is easier than ever, but the challenge still exists. With a variety of weapons, monsters and builds to discover, this game is definitely worth it. Expect tons of updates as the year passes too!

This is EASILY the best Monster Hunter game ever on a Nintendo platform. Gorgeous game for being on the Switch and the "zones" being seamless makes a world of difference. Super easy to get around the big zones now that you can ride a mount, so many good quality of life changes. Awesome freaking game.

Great game, perfect entry for new players like myself. My roommate and I have been having a blast hunting monsters and grinding for gear! The addition of Silk Bind attacks and wirebugs open up the world and speed up gameplay, creating dynamic and exciting fights! Highly recommend this game!

This is a Nintendo Switch game?! I can’t believe the amount of detail and depth of this game. While I am only at the beginning of the game, I am in awe of how gorgeous and fun it is. What makes this title unique when compared to other Monster Hunter titles is the fact that this has such a strong Japanese aesthetic. It’s like stepping into an ancient Japan folklore come to life on a little screen (I play on a Switch Lite). The graphics are easily comparable to the big brothers on PS4 and Xbox One, but, as this is a Switch exclusive, it feels truly unique in the palm of your hand. With some little problems fixed from previous games, this seems like the best way to dive in to the Monster Hunter series. Highly recommended.

Great game. I already put in over 100 hours in it and there's still a lot to do. Added bonus, Capcom sent out free content update recently to expand the Monsters and loot. It is expected that they will send out another free update in the near future. That is just icing on the cake.

I won't go into endgame content as I haven't gotten to endgame (I'm about halfway through the village), and Capcom is still rolling out endgame content. I also haven't put enough time in on it in handheld mode to make a fair judgement, but from what I've seen it runs pretty well in docked and handheld mode. So with that out of the way this is a Monster Hunter game, which means you take your pitifully small hunter armed with a weapon (sword, staff, bow, gun, lance, explosive lance...) and hunt animals much bigger and stronger than you are for parts to make better armor and weapons. If you are coming from World and Iceborne there are many differences such as: Rise is Switch only (which means the graphics won't be as good as Worlds on PC/Xbox/PS) Rise has a wirebug mechanic which allows you to Spiderman your way around the level, and up walls Rise has monster riding where you can "catch" a monster and beat the crap out of other monsters or run it into a wall. Rise also has doggos you can ride like the rideable monsters in World except faster and you don't have to unlock them. Rise also has a tower defense-ish game called rampages. Pros: Portable Fun Fast, and 3d movement (can run up walls) Doggos and Monster Hunter gameplay Cons: Annoying characters (For some reason Rise's version of handler/s irk me more than World/Icebornes Handler. The Dango girl also is kinda obnoxious after awhile.) 3d Movement (running up walls can be finicky, especially when it comes to reaching a certain ledge in the frozen area.) Developers kinda simplified the gameplay down with the removal of hot/cold drinks. Lacking in interesting areas. (Rise falls back to the general areas of previous non-world games; Hills, Swamp, desert, cold, volcano. It doesn't have the interesting places in World like Coral Highlands, or Rotten Vale.) Meh: Dango (I like dango in real life, but previous Monster Hunters made the meals look really good, which is lacking in Rise.) Easier than previous Monster Hunters (understandable since there is no G-Rank yet.) Graphics are a step back from Worlds, but thats understandable since it is on a lower power system. Overall it's a fun game with enough differences to set it apart from the previous Monster Hunters.

Monster Hunter Rise is an excellent addition to the franchise. It improves upon the gameplay of Monster Hunter World and introduces new gameplay mechanics like the Wirebug, Wyvern Riding, and riding palamutes. The world is large and seamless and runs excellently on the Switch.

I wa skeptical at first, after playing Monster Hunter World on my PS4/PS5 - but I have to say they did an incredible job on this one. Even on the switch the game looks and plays without issue. They have already had 3 free updates with new monsters and missions. 10/10

First time playing monster hunter. It's fun to play, and takes a while to learn the controls. The missions are progressive in nature. It's similar to the Legend of Zelda. Overall it is a great game.
