Been playing this game since I got it and been hooked ever since. There’s so much to do in this game, fighting all kinds of monsters, making armor and weapons out of parts you gather that drops from each one of them and for your palico and palamute as well. Once you complete low rank, you’ll eventually get to high rank where monsters become harder to defeat but their higher difficult counterparts drop better loot and that means better armor and weapons, so what are you waiting, get monster hunter rise or just wait when the game goes on sale. Have an amazing day!

If you have played the previous Monster Hunter games, it combines the quality of life updates from World with some of the old school feel of the older entries in order to create, I think, the best entry so far. The addition of Palamutes in addition to the Palicoes are great support when playing by oneself offline. I am still on the fence about the rampages, which is a tower defense-ish mode with monsters, but I have only done it once, though I don't hate it.
Definitely worth the play, though if grinding is not your thing, this series is definitely not for you.

This feels like a return to form with a fun twist in the form of the Palamutes. If you're familiar with the Monster Hunter franchise you'll love this game, and running around at top speeds with your dogs.
That being said, is not the toughest game out there. If you weren't a fan of generations and missed out in Monster Hunter Would because of it's lack of a Switch port this is a solid recommend.
The Amiibo support is fun, but not necessary. It's just a costume charge over whatever armor you're currently wearing. It's cool, but look up pictures to see if you think it's worth it

It's Monster Hunter. It's amazing. If you're reading this, I'm guessing you've never played a MH game before or you would've already just purchased it. So if fighting giant monsters over and over again to farm for items and gear so that you can 'level up' and fight even bigger monsters over and over again to farm for even better items and gear somehow doesn't sound like fun to you, then you should probably move on.

Great Boss Fight Game

This game is pretty complex and grind-heavy, but not near as much as the first few games, which by the way are not at all needed to enjoy this game on its own.
This is the fourth MH game I have played, and I will say, as enjoyable as this is, it does at this time feel more like boss fights vs. actually *hunting* a monster, which is not really a bad thing. It just does not feel like the same kind of game back when I first got into this series.
I started off with Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate, and with that game you had to do stuff like:
* Bring a map with you
* Mark the monster to be able to track it when it flees
* Bring all the gathering tools you might want while hunting
* Carefully decide what is most essential to bring on your hunts because the only way to replenish your stock in the hunt is to find the necessary materials on the field
With Monster Hunter Rise however, that is greatly simplified. Capcom did stuff like:
* Making the map always present without taking up inventory
* Marking the locations of the monsters at all times
* Making all gathering tools unbreakable and always accessible without taking up inventory space
* Having *all* your weapons/armor/inventory accessible in camps on the field, so replenishing your bag or switching tactics is simple
* much, much more...
While personally I find those taking away from the *hunting* part of the Monster Hunter experience, they do make it easier for new players to partake in this game, plus if I want more *hunting* in Monster Hunter on the Switch, Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate does still scratch that itch (although I prefer MH4U even more).
In summary, for Monster Hunter on the Switch, if you want a simple (compared to other MH games) boss fight game, go for this one. If you want more of a hunting experience to couple with those boss fights, try out MHGU (just be patient with the tedious low rank quests, it does get much better).

Coming from playing 40+ hours of monster hunter world this was a bit hard to get use to. The controls can be a bit confusing but everything for a great game is in place. Very impressed how good the graphics are. Definitely a must have for switch and monster hunter fans!

My first Monster Hunter game and I love it. I have always been very stand offish with the Monster Hunter titles just cause they seem so clunky but after giving this title a chance I fell in love with it. A really fun game and now that it is $30 I think you can't go wrong with it especially now that sunbreak has released. If there is anytime to jump into MHR the time is now!

This game looks and sounds amazing. The gameplay is really fun. I never been a fan of monster hunter but I have been a fan of capcom and this game was excellent. The variety in monsters to fight, the different types of weapons and armor you can craft. Multiplayer missions are fun. Riding on the back of your dog companion was a great new feature as well as the new wire bug mechanic. I hope this game opens the door for a potential fully open world monster hunter game.

This game probably will be GOTY for me in 2021. I haven’t played a Monster Hunter game in the past, so as a first game, it really drew me, and my brother in. We both picked up copies for our Switch consoles. If you’re looking into getting this game, I’d say it’s like Final Fantasy XV met Legend of Zelda. That’s the best idea I could think of at the time of writing this.
Overall, pick this game up if you’re interested in something new. It’s definitely worth the $60
