Customers value the Talkabout 35-Mile, 2-Way Radio's long range, durability, and good sound quality, with many praising its battery life and waterproof design. Some users noted that the device's size might be cumbersome for some, and that the range may be less than advertised in certain conditions. The belt clip's durability was also a point of concern for a few customers. Overall, the positive feedback on key features outweighs the negative comments.

Great 2-way radios but the only thing i don't like are the clips that hold the radios. Very cheaply made and i use them for work so i have to keep on checking to see if they are still on my belt. But besides that they take a beating i constantly drop them and they keep on working

They work well. I am new to gmrs radios, so I don't have much to compare to unfortunately. There are times when it seems like the radios do not transmit correctly and we had to resend before it seemed like it would kick in. Range is as expected. Like the fact they are waterproof and include weather alert and flashlight functions. I signed up quickly and paid for the FCC license to legitimately use the gmrs based higher power transmission channels.

I bought these for communication between two 11 Meter boats while in harbors and on the ocean about 20-1500yards apart. They were rained on and ocean sprayed with no decrease in function once the extra water was shaken from the speaker area. Decent battery life at around 8hrs stand by, with 25-10 second conversations. They are big in the hand, a little to big for convenient pocket use. The push-to-talk button is small and slightly recessed. Difficult to use for normal use, very difficult with gloves. Overall, a decent radio, but not for my needs. I would not re-buy these once the ocean kills them.

Everything I Needed!

I bought these radios because I needed something reliable to communicate with my staff during events. The volume is loud enough to hear in a crowd and the mic picks up every word. With that in mind, I found that you need to wait a second or two after you press the talk button before you begin to speak. If not, it will not pick up the beginning of the conversation. The rechargeable batteries are a plus but you can also use AA batteries if necessary. I love the LED light. Didn't think I would use it but I was wrong. I would buy definitely buy again.

We purchased this item for our 8-yr old grandson who loves exploring the outdoors. He fell in love with the radio set immediately, and used it non-stop during our treks through Zion National Park. I was surprised by how rugged and reliable it was. The voice clarity is excellent and the weather tracking feature is a real plus. A great buy at any age!

The radios worked out of the box. They are being used in an industrial setting and the range is good, no problems with that. Water resistant as described. Takes a while to charge the battery and would have been better to come with an extra one to swap. The only drawback - the belt clip breaks easy.

I bought these bad boys in case of apocalypse-type disaster. I have a pair and so does my brother. The thing is super rugged, built-in led, emergency weather channel station was unexpected but cool. The only down side to these is the 35 mile range** is only in wide spread areas. If you're in a city, it's about a 3.5 mile range. Just out of reach of my brothers.

Used in the mountains camping. Couldn't rely on the supplied rechargeable batteries but used disposable AA and no problem. Range through trees is nowhere near 35 mile. More like 3 or so but on a perfect day across a valley they may have gotten 35 miles during testing. Waterproof is nice and they did pass the float test (dropped one in on accident). Like most 2way radios, clarity was a bit of an issue but they performed as expected.

I took these on a week long hiking trip and was pleased that the batteries lasted all week even though we left the radios on most of the daytime hours. The range depends on line of sight, so you don't get much range in the mountains, except when you are at the top and can see the other person. But they worked for us because we weren't ever more than about a half mile apart.

The radios work perfectly in all conditions and the battery life is great!
The units are a bit larger than my previous models, but the kids have no problem using them as well.

Former in-home intercoms never lasted very long between our house and the backyard workshop. These walkie talkies are great if family member goes to a neighbors home since our cell phone reception is poor in our neighborhood. They can be used when hiking, as well.

Was in the market for radios for a road trip from the east coast to the west coast and these ones did not fail us. They are very user friendly and was used in 4 separate vehicles. Sound was excellent and distance was not a factor on the quality of sound. They do come with rechargeable batteries but we really liked where you have the option to use your own double A battery. Which in my opinion lasted longer but you can easily get 14 hours from the rechargeable. We just needed something longer as the trip from one coast to the other is easily 30 plus hours.

We have had numerous sets of these radios because we pick up cars for a dealership. While looking for a car or actually delivering cars they are far easier and safer to use than a cell phone. We are able to keep track of one another and make sure there are no car problems. The only reason we've had so many sets is that we tend to lose them after awhile.

I gave this as a gift to my son because he and his lady were moving to another state. He told me it was a great way to keep in touch with each other while he was driving a U-Haul truck and she was driving a car. They both loved it.

I purchased this set of walkie talkies for my 6yo grandson. He had a set but only went 5 miles at best. He lives 10 miles from us. He wanted to talk with his Mommo (grandma, my wife) and thought it would be cooler this way.
Also, we are taking these radios to the lake this summer so that we can talk between our boats.

I initially bought these radios while prepping for a hurricane that was approaching Florida. I wanted the waterproof (for obvious reasons) features as well as the long range communication and ability to get news from NOAA. All of these are standard on these radios, and the clarity of voice transmissions is phenomenal. The only thing I would change is the fact that you need to plug them in for charging. It'd be nice to just pop in some AA's in situations where you might not have access to a power source.
