    Great laptop for the money.

This is probably the best laptop i could rationalize spending this amount of money on for what you get (if you buy it through here i don't know why it's more expensive everywhere else). I am very happy with the performance and all its features. My only complaints are: 1. The touch pad. It's very touchy and it does weird things with my left hand because of the placement of it ( my left palm will slightly touch it while typing and move my curser some where else on the screen and start typing there) and the clicking as if its a actual mouse (left and right click on the pad aren't separate buttons or anything) is kind of annoying. My touch pad on my Macbook was a little more efficient. I looked into the options of changing this a little bit, but with no avail. Maybe if i look harder I will find a solution. 2. The place of the power button. It's located at the right side of the laptop very close to you. I have turned it off multiple times just adjusting my laptop and picking it up with my right hand. I would of preferred they but it somewhere above the keyboard. Those are the only two negatives i can think of. The touchpad just annoys me the most. Everything else about this laptop is top notch and i would definitely recommend it.

I use this laptop for some months both as pc and laptop. As pc, it runs BF1 in ultra settings in 2K resolution for above 60fps (using DP 1.4). It loads very very fast (about 5 seconds). as laptop it has great processing power for developing and using a lop of apps (3 instances of vs15, adobe photoshop etc..) and it has Hi-Fi port for great sound quality. This laptop suffer only from one con - battery life - but according it's width and weight - this is absolutely worthwhile

This laptop is perfect if you love to play tripple a title games at 60fps or more and need a portable rig I play tom clancy the division at 60fps in high settings 45fps in ultra and it still feels playable. I can run csgo maxed out settings in 200fps wich is so amazing i used to run it in 40fps on my hp spectre Only con is the battery life is short but you can use msi batter calabration app and put it on battery saver mode to get 3+ hours of web surfing ect

This computer has everything...Well in my opinion. GPU, RGB lighting. Speed. The biggest that GPU and that it's by far super lite. if I had one complain about this Laptop is that the speakers are not all that and a bag of chips.Otherwise and simply amazing laptop great for all types of use especially for gaming.

This is a great laptop, but i personally upgraded few things to make it and amazing gaming laptop! I think you need to upgrade your wireless card for sure!!! I upgraded my wireless card to killer 1535 and it's much faster and I'm getting better signal !! I also have replaced the 128 toshiba ssd with 512gb Samsung 950 pro and I also have upgraded my 1TB hard drive to 1TB Samsung 850 evo SSD... I also upgraded my ram to 32gb 2800MHZ (not that I need that much of a ram but just because I had the option) lol Now I have an super gaming laptop.

First laptop to have Desktop Graphic card in Laptop. Enough said it's has 40% more capabilities than next top laptop. You can easily pay $2,000 and still not have a desktop level graphics card. Simply put the best keyboard in market. On top of A+ rated sound not for laptop but for a speaker. The specs on this laptop is off the charts. No weakeness, 16 GB RAM is respectful, i7 is a must. Unlike most PC it only has the best software that you will actually use. No other bloatware like other PCs. Form factor is very slim and light weight yet very solid built. Highly recommend this!!!

    Excellent laptop, great compromise

Given the many brands of gaming laptops and the wide range of prices and options, it's important to do your research. I was looking for a thin and light desktop replacement and this fit my needs perfectly. Keep in mind, there are quite a few variants to this model and it's important to pick the right one for you. PROS: -High end quad core i7 processor is very fast -GTX 1060 graphics card matches or beats last year's top of the line cards -Solid state boot drive (starts up in less than 10 seconds) -Metal build feels great in hand -Slimmer bezels than compable models -Bottom made of felt/suede type material minimizes heat and slipping -Slim and lightweight; very portable -Customizable keyboard backlight; great keyboard travel -16 GB DDR4 is great for multitasking -Plenty of ports, USB, Headphone & Mic, Thunderbolt 3, etc -Much more attractive than many other gaming laptops -Runs quiet and cool when you're not gaming CONS: -Yes, the cheaper "001" model has a dim and dull screen compared to the IPS level "034" and "068" models. Screen is acceptable with built in tweaks. -Battery life is poor to mediocre depending on the power profile selected -128 GB SSD is SATA, not the faster PCIe -Upgrading RAM or the M.2 SSD requires removal of the motherboard, though the SATA drive is easily accessible. -Trackpad isn't as good as Asus models I've used previously BOTTOM LINE: This laptop has high end specs where it matters. If the screen on the "001" model were better, it would easily be a 5 star laptop. This seems to be a great compromise for those who want power but also an easily portable computer. There are definitely larger, cheaper plastic gaming laptops that use an i5 and/or GTX 9 series graphic cards, that may be better options depending on your needs. However, this does offer similar performance to much more expensive models from other manufacturers. The 2017 models offer an i7-7700HQ, which is only slightly faster, yet can support faster RAM, and most come with faster PCIe SSD's. One would have to decide whether they're worth the premium price over this model. If you want a thin and light gaming laptop under $1500, this is definitely one to consider.

    Nice little gaming laptop

I wanted to buy the Asus Strix Laptop but in Bestbuy they did not have it so I bought this one. The older laptop I had was a MSI and had a gtx 860m in it I gave it to my son. I know that the build quality is premium with this brand. The plus is Msi finally made a nice track pad so you can use it for browsing etc. The speaker before where the better now the sound really bad I don`t like it much. And of course the heat, but since I don`t use it on my lap while gaming it is no issue. The screen is very nice.I f you are going for the looks buy this one if you want a little more cooling go with the Asus Strix GL502 or the GL702. I am thinking in changing it with a Asus 17 inch one but they don`t have it in store so lets see maybe monday I will change my mind.

    Thin and powerful notebook

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

This is a great gaming laptop. Unlike other gaming equipment, this notebook is actually thin and light making it quite portable. The downside of the thinness is having to use thinner cooling fans. The fans make a noticeable whine at higher speeds. However, thanks to the current generation of processors and the new pascal gtx 10 series, the fans do an incredible job of cooling. This was my first msi laptop coming from a giant 17 inch Alienware laptop from 2011. The bloat ware is minimal but still there. However the msi apps are useful. Matte screen has great viewing angles. If you want a portable gaming rig than this awesome. If you want a desktop replacement than get a giant laptop with a 1070 or 1080 for the better gaming experience.

    Excellent Lightweight Gaming Laptop

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

After reviewing other gaming laptops from other companies, I couldn't pass up that this was the best deal that included the 10 series nVidia card. I haven't been disappointed. I'm not going to complain about the battery life because any serious gamer knows that gaming laptops don't rely on batteries. It's a portable workstation, just accept it. The speakers seem a little lower quality. When I wasn't on my headset for one game, they had an odd "tinny" noise. I messed with drivers and reboots and finally got it to go away. But I wear headphones most of the time and don't notice it. The only other reason for not giving it a five is that the power button is in a horrible location. The USB bank is on the left and if you "hold" the right of your laptop to push the USB in from the left, you'll probably hit the power button. I've also been moving it and accidentally hit the power button. As with any gaming laptop, it does generate some heat, so I bought a cooling pad. However, I will need to buy another one because the one I bought has the fans in the middle of the pad. Whereas the Laptop has it's exhaust vents towards the back of the device. So if you buy a cooling pad, make sure it's fans just hit the entire bottom of the device. But other than that, I highly recommend. (non of the issues that I commented on would have stopped me from purchasing)

No more spinning wheels! With this laptop, you click it and it opens ... boom! No waiting. Also, they have excellent technical support. After a recent Windows 10 update, my sound started sounding like the speakers were busted. A quick call to support and I was quickly informed that the update was incompatible with one of the pre-installed programs on my notebook. I uninstalled and rebooted ... wallah! Sound is back to normal. Great job, guys!

Love This Laptop - Highly Recomment It

I purchased this laptop because it meant my following requirements: 1) USB-C Port 2) Up to 3 monitor output 3) Nividia graphics Card in the 10 series 4) 2 Hard drives 5) Thin 6) I7 7) 16 GB RAM I am a software developer by trade and an avid gamer. I wanted a laptop that could handle my games and allow me to work writing computer code as well. This laptop fits all my needs. I do want to add a few notes that I did encounter while working with this laptop. I wanted to upgrade the SSD to a 500GB. To do this you will need to remove the motherboard as it and the RAM are under the motherboard (between the keyboard and motherboard). The good thing is you will not need to repaste the GPU or CPU as they are attached to the motherboard and will come out with it (fans included). The upgrade took me about 30 minutes to do. If you want to replace the HDD it is a standard 2.5" laptop hard drive and easily accessible. Also be careful removing the bottom of the laptop as there are plastic clips all the way around it. But don't worry if you break a few as the screws will hold it tight to the case. Here are the upgrades I did to the system: 1) Replaced SSD with 500GB 2) Upgrade OS to Windows Pro This laptop has no issues running Fallout 4 on Ultra High settings.

I was looking for a portable gaming laptop. Most of gaming laptops are too heavy to carry to school and home, but GS63 is thin, light and powerful, which meet my expectation. this laptop equipped with many gaming functions, many settings are friendly and easier to use. The best function I like is multi color KB, type feeling is comfortable and I can change the color and setting when I play different games.

Great laptop but needed some tweaks

I "unexpectedly" bought this laptop when I went in to my local Best Buy for something else. I've been reading about the GTX 10xx based laptops and I was interested to see how they would perform. After the initial setup I noticed a few things about this laptop. First, after installing Steam on it, I noticed that my download speed was very slow. Updated the Wifi drivers, and that helped a bit, but my download speed on this laptop still isn't great. Once I finally downloaded my first game from Steam (Shadow of Mordor), I ran the game's benchmark - I wasn't impressed. I opened the "Gforce experience" app to see if there were driver issues, and saw that the driver installed was old, but I could not install a new driver. I uninstalled ALL Nvidia software, downloaded a fresh copy and installed. Games now run great (except for ARK survival, but thats a whole different story). Overall I'm very happy with this laptop, so much that I will be selling my desktop PC (to put it in perspective, my desktop machine has 2 GTX 970 GPU's and 16GB of RAM). Not a fan of the power button placement however, but most certainly not a deal breaker. I will be installing the 1TB mechanical drive with a SSD in the near future to help with load times.

overall, this is a really ideal laptop: practical cooling system, thin and light... But unfortunately, the left speaker has low-quality and not capable to reach a pitch. I tried all kinds of ways to fix it and concluded that the reason is the physical quality of the speaker.

This laptop blurs the lines between desktop and laptop gaming. I was floored when I saw how well it played everything I had on Ultra settings. I hooked it up to a 4K TV and it plays 4K games with no issues.

    Bad speakers

I was in the market for a gaming laptop that would also double as a video and audio editing station and i was torn between the Alienware 15 and the MSI gs63VR 6RF. After heavy review I settled on the MSI. Right to the point: This computer has solid performance and from what I can tell so far a solid build. My only complaint and possible deal breaker are the speakers. I know they're small and tinny to begin with but the unit I got sounded like the left speaker was either blown or the preamp levels were set way too high on the left side which was causing alot of crackling and distortion. I tried for about 2 hours adjusting levels, deleting and reinstalling drivers, trying different audio settings but to no avail. I settled on the fact that the computer had a defective speaker and took it back for an exchange. Well, to my disappointment the new computer has the same left speaker issue. I might just go with the alienware after all.

    What about Oculus

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I just purchased this computer and it's great. The main reason I got this was for my Oculus Rift. One big problem, the rift has a HDMI and a USB3.0. This computer has the ports on opposite sides. The Y of the cord barely reaches. Now will have to get an extension. Didnt have the Rift in mind when they built this one

Mine would not charge, says "Plugged in Not Charging"... Tried to call MSI, but they are only open M-F, seems like the Motherboard is defective. The Graphics was awesome, but OMG what terrible speakers. I returned and exchanged for an ASUS GL702 from BestBuy, although not as thin and light, does include G-Sync screen, and cheaper, basicly same specs, and much quieter.
