It’s an ok laptop

This laptop is ok.. works well, however the SSD is way too small for doing anything. If you’re into gaming, when you download a game onto the 1T hard drive it will still save files on the ssd, which fills it up and slows everything down.

The laptop LCD display did not turn on.
I called Technical assistance and followed their instructions as follows:
1. I connected and HDMI cable to an external monitor, the laptop did send video to it.
2. I used the "Function" and "F2" keys to try to switch the display output mode between the LCD and the external monitor. However, the laptop LCD screen did continue staying blank.
3. They told me the product was defective and that I should take it back to the store (BestBuy).
Conclusion: I returned the item and did not want a replacement. The experience was not good.

This thing has a great screen. super high resolution, high refresh rate. No tearing. Sounds great. Also super fast load speeds when software is in the SSD. I have no issue with whatever games I try to play on the highest resolution. Absolutely the king of PCs right now

Good on paper, but that's it.

To start with, i bought this with intent to play VR. Reality is that it can't do that reliably. For once, the GPU is not a bottleneck, but the CPU. The Primary SSD is too small for any avid gamer and is a wart of what this machine lacks. on paper, things seem well. but the 7700hq is not enough for avid gamers and 128gb is a joke. spend the little extra money on something better or drop down to a 1060 and save some money.
if that doesn't turn you away, this thing sounds like a jet just running a web browser and god forbid should you game. you will need noise canceling headphones to block any noise. it may sound like an exageration, but i have 2 reference 970s in a desktop that are a 1/3 of noise when i force them to 100% fan speed.

I've had about 5 laptops over the past 15 years; this is legitimately the first one I'm pleased with. Maybe I've spoiled myself by building my own PCs since I was young, but as a result, I've never been impressed with any laptop's performance. I saw the MSI GE72MVR 7RG on sale at my local Best Buy and grabbed one thinking I wouldn't need to buy another laptop for quite some time.
It turns out I was right. The performance this laptop brings to the table is incredible. The ability to play any game, anywhere, is amazing. I'm extremely impressed with the GTX 1070. I have a 1080 in my desktop and I can't believe how well the 1070 holds up in comparison. Any game I play at home I can take on the road now.
It goes without saying that the laptop is ideal for work-related activities also. If you're using it exclusively for school work or emails, I could see how it could be a little overkill in regards to size/weight... (although I personally love the weight, you can tell it's a sturdy laptop just by looking at it and I don't mind having my system cased in metal) but even if you did get this system just for work, you won't be disappointed. It boots to desktop in about 15 seconds from the time you push the power button, and the Killer NIC built in connects wireless or hardwired in a matter of seconds without any issues.
Extremely impressed, will be a longtime MSI customer going forward.

I just got my Ibuypower Trace 931 for Christmas. I really like it but I am a little disappointed that it does not have a cd drive. I love that I can change the color in many different patterns.

What can I say. I am nothing if not impressed with this machine. This computer boots up and is ready almost before your finger leaves the power button. I am not a PC Gamer, but like to think I am a founding member for gaming. When I game I use my Xbox One. This machine I purchased to edit high quality pictures and videos.

Where can I start from I was looking for a gaming laptop to buy kept debating between Alienware or this MSI Apache pro, I thought buying the msi would be a great buy for my daily use for gaming, video editing etc.... not going to lie it’s strong gaming pc along with many options on it but the build is crap, the ssd used in this rig is not good at all, beyond that point you will struggle with there customer if something goes wrong it. The tech guys over at msi will either be really rude with you, or help further damage your pc/notebook. I have had my notebook for about 3 months and it has totally crapped out on me, non usable the hdmi from the 1070 graphics card on mine can’t even display or react to a second monitor to many issues to state you will have no luck with tech support so be prepared as msi will do nothing to help I highly recommend staying away from msi in general and just build your own desktop gaming notebooks I will no longer do

$1800 Paperweight.

The laptop itself worked for the short time I had it. It got damaged and the motherboard needed to be replaced- this was a fault of ours we admitted to when doing the RMA.
So what was the cost of the repair? $2000.
I ask what is the price without labor. Their response ''Labor is only $100"
They want more than the cost of the laptop. To replace a motherboard. I've got the email logs to prove it.
If ANYTHING at all goes wrong with this thing, you'll have a $2000 paperweight. I will never buy MSI again.
