    Great little Ultrabook

So far I have only had this laptop for a few days but I have very good impressions so far. For the price I paid, this laptop is excellent. The Core i-7 Processor is quite fast. I have a couple of older desktop NUC systems running quad core i-5 processors and this laptop is easily about 50% faster. The graphics performance is probably double what those older NUC systems can do. I've installed all my games and programming tools. I pulled down a rather large project from GitHub and built it with no problems. Side-by-side with my older work laptop (Lenovo Thinkpad P1) which is double the price and a much more powerful 6 core Intel CPU, this laptop feels subjectively much, much faster. Partly because our IT department pollutes the build with invasive software like Crowdstrike, but also partly because the 11th gen Core CPUs are much much better than 9th gen. I included some Geekbench 5 comparison numbers between my older desktop NUC i5 system and this laptop. It's not even close. Pros: 16 GB and 1 TB drive are great. Decent build quality for the price. Fast CPU for an ultrabook. Display is not glossy! (no reflections) Boot and restart times are nothing short of amazing. Can play some light games with ease. (League of Legends, Company of Heroes 2, Rocket League didn't cause significant fan noise) Size and weight are amazing. Two thuderbolt 4 ports! Cons: Keyboard isn't up to Thinkpad quality. It's not terrible, just not great. Pre-installed anti-virus software causes laggy behavior in many applications. MSI chose to use a PCIe 3.0 NVMe drive instead of PCIe 4.0 which means slower than it could have been. But still pretty fast. Display could be a little bit better. A single USB 2.0 (2.0!) plug.

Got this laptop around the start of covid, used it for school and for games, around November the left hinge shattered. But the computer was still functional, I kept using it up until December 2023 when it just didn’t turn on. I’ve tried everything and I’m going to see how much it cost to get it fixed. But it worked when I needed it to.

After considerable research and debate, the decision was made to purchase this absolutely wonder machine. It's much faster with better graphics than the one I replaced. All the bells and whistles work like a charm, including blue tooth and cast to tv

Plastic hinges on laptop broke, has poor battery life, and fan runs very loud due to high temperatures. These are all common problems associated with this laptop. Would not recommend.

It has a beautiful 14-inch display with decent graphics, and it's only 1.29kg and 16mm thick, making it easy to carry around. The battery life is also impressive at first, Now I have to keep it plugged in every now and then. However, there are a few downsides. First, it can get quite hot when you're using it for demanding tasks, such as gaming or video editing. Second, the fans can be quite loud when they're running at full speed. Finally, the performance can lag sometimes, especially if you're running multiple programs at once. Overall, it's decent for students who need a powerful machine that's also lightweight and portable. However, if you're sensitive to heat or noise, you may want to consider a different model.

Very happy with the purchase. This is my first purchase from MSI. I had used Dell, HP before, but was tempted seeing this specs from MSI and its price. Finally, I got this one for 899$ and here is my experience: 1. Experience opening this package was great starting the way it was designed, packed and the provided a bonus case. 2. Device was light, ease to setup and easy to carry 3. Tried running various work programs and it works great as of now. 4. Battery life is decent enough

Excellent workhorse computer that has plenty of internal storage. The Iris XE Graphics are great for light gaming and video editing software, and the size of this "ultrabook" isn't hindered by a large graphics card. The single cooling fan is a bit loud when you're running some programs and the speakers are pretty quiet, but I usually use headphones anyway. 4/5

    Mis-specification

Got it for just a day, haven't tried out all the things that I normally do yet. Compared with me 8th generation i7 laptop, it is definitely faster and is expected. There are a few hiccups already in the first day and I seem to have found a mis-specification of the laptop. Will see if someone can correct me. 1. After a while, the taskbar doesn't autohide anymore and I have to click on the start button and then click other desktop area to trigger the hide. 2. The laptop suddenly shut down after the battery was out. I checked that the low and critical battery level notification was set to ON but there was not a single notification before shutting down itself. 3. Now, the mis-specification part. The laptop is supposed to have two Thunderbolt 4 ports, however, the Thunderbolt controller software in the start menu shows the Thunderbolt version is 3. Thunderbolt 4 is supposed to support two 4k monitors while Thunderbolt 3 supports only 1. I have a 2k monitor and just bought another 2k ultrawide monitor. I will see if it can drive both 2k monitors smoothly after I set them up. It will definitely be a return if it cannot. Mis-specification is no excuse. If I had two 4k monitors or if I want to upgrade my monitors to 4k, this laptop won't support that. If you don't need two 4k monitors and the main requirement is speed for what you currently do, this will be a good machine. Will update later if the system lets me.

I really wanted to like this machine, but a lot held me back from keeping it. Your mileage may vary, but I would recommend coming into this machine knowing it's a machine that makes compromises. Pro - great value for these specs and size. Love the size - I think more manufacturers need to make machines in this size. Great looks, the blue is nice and I like the matte screen. Nice keyboard and I liked the extra large track pad. The carrying case in the box was a great extra. Cons - bad thermals, the fan on this thing runs often and runs LOUD. This was a deal breaker for me, but if you can deal with this, may not be for you. Another concern of mine was the build quality - lots of flexing and inconsistent fit. At this price point, I guess you have to expect some corners cut, but if you are looking for something that's more solid feeling, look at the similarly spec'd options from Dell or HP.

My first MSI computer is compact and light; it does the job faster than my previous Asus; however, it feels sloppy sometimes while working on regular office work. The battery does not last the advertised 12 hours, maybe 6 hours at the most, without a heavy workload. Besides these two hiccups works efficiently and without any problems. I wait for 6 months to purchase this laptop in clearance and is worth it.

I absolutely love this computer. It’s lightweight, fast, and the specs for the price was too good not to get. The only thing I don’t like about it is the audio. It’s pretty poor and I tried getting those audio apps to help and it kinda helped. 4/5 stars for that

This may be one of the best MSI laptops yet. I've always been a fan of MSI laptops, but this one is the lightest MSI laptop I've ever had and you can't be the price for the hardware and performance. The keyboard, screen and build quality all feel great. The only negative I can think of is I wish the screen got a tad brighter. It is perfectly fine indoors, but can be a little dim when sitting out on the back porch in the middle of the day. Definitely recommend this laptop to anyone looking for a light and portable laptop with top of the line specs at a great price.

This is the cutest computer while packing a big punch. With 1 TB & 16 GB ram how could you go wrong? The notebook stays at a comfortable temperature while running multiple softwares. I was looking for a multimedia computer that can handle all of my art production and I found one that also didn’t cost 2k + !

I've had this laptop for about a year. Overall it works well. I'm not a gamer. I'm using it for regular day to day work. What I hate about it - 1) it is made for using with headphones. Headphones work great on it but without headphones it can be really difficult to hear through the suboptimal speakers. Annoying. 2) the thing gets WAY too hot and shuts down. I then have to wait hours for it to cool down before I can use it again. The screen simply goes black and won't turn on. Maddening! I won't buy another.

So I favored performance over battery life in my purchase but I never could have dreamed at how terrible the battery life actually was. Whatever they say the battery life is, halve that. I am constantly sitting down with this mostly charged and having to find the power cord within the hour. Even worse, there is no warning before the computer turns off. Sometimes you get a few seconds of the red warning, like literally a few seconds. Sometimes it goes straight from the low power warning to turning off. Also going to 16 mb ram I was expecting a bit more of an overpowered machine. It's not that this doesn't work, or performs slowly, but it just doesn't feel that different from a standard laptop. I still occassionally have my R (statistical software) freeze when several other programs are open. One TB SSD is nice. Performance generally satisfactory. But overall a disappointment due to the abysmal battery and power warnings

I bought this device months ago when it was on sale for $899. At that price it was a no-brainer. After using it for a while I am more than satisfied with the performance and portability. Fans can get a little noisy, but that is manageable in the included MSI app. Nice little machine.
