The NEAT scanner is "neat"...However, the software leaves a lot to be desired. The software reads the receipts fairly accurately, even faded cash register receipts...BUT... (1) when you scan several receipts at a time, the software routinely drops information from the previous scanned receipts forcing you to rescan and retype the essential data. (2) Another problem is that the scanned data is only "processed" and saved if you save it to NEAT's cloud service. (3) The scanner will scan and save PDF images to your hard drive but will not process the data into an EXCEL or accounting database unless you subscribe to the NEAT cloud service. The purchaser should be notified of this on the outside of the box so you know that a subscription IS REQUIRED. (4) The NEAT cloud service is very user unfriendly in that, the data scanned from receipts is NOT totally transferable to an EXCEL format spreadsheet. Example is that if you want a Tax Data to be transferred from the cloud records, NEAT does not give you the option to transfer specific data. This is especially important if you have several (hundred) scanned/saved records to transfer for tax accounting. Bottom-line...great scanner if you only want to scan and save .pdf pictures of receipts...otherwise, be prepared for double work and aggravation if you intend on using the software for tax accounting.

A little hesitant to try a refurbished product, but this one performs well. Very satisfied.
