This speaker here is legit for its size. Packs great sound quality and the Google Assistant is dope. $100 can't beat that.

I like the speaker overall. Volume could be a bit higher. My only complaint is not a fault of the speaker. I wish Google snd Amazon could work together. Having many Alexa enabled devices, it is frustrating that you can't easily acces your Amazon content. I know they are competitors, but it is frustrating.

Brand response from Nest Support

Hi there, thanks for sharing your feedback on Nest Audio. We’re sorry to hear that you were having problems with connectivity, and it’s good to know that you’re not having the same problem after switching it to 2.4 GHz. We appreciate you for doing your best to make it work. Nest Audio supports both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks. Since your speaker works with no problem on the 2.4 GHz network, it would be best to keep it as it is. The waves of the 2.4 GHz band can travel a greater distance than those of the 5 GHz band. If your 5 GHz network has issues with connectivity, we suggest getting in touch with your internet service provider.
If ever you will have any questions or concerns about the Nest Audio and its features, please contact us at Google Nest Help page here and we’d be more than happy to help you: https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp

Didn't Meet Expectations

Depending on use, these might be just the thing to have. For my intended use partly as a smart Bluetooth speaker for a laptop, my expectations were not met. Two ideas to convey:
1) These have, as far as I know, an insurmountable problem when used as a pair in conjunction with a visual source. Connecting via Bluetooth from a PC to one of these introduces a slightly noticeable audio delay between coordinated visuals and sound that can be tolerated if you're not paying close attention; however, setting up two Nest Audio speakers as a left/right pair introduces an audio lag of almost one full second behind the video. If you're listening to an audio-only source through these speakers (and no other speakers at the same time), you might never know the lag was there because there'd be no visual reference with which to compare the audio. If all you're going to do is stream audio into your environment, with just one as a mono speaker or with two as a stereo pair, that will work well. If you wish to use two as a stereo pair for a computer and sometimes watch a video with sound, these are out of the question.
2) To all the reviewers, consumer commenters, and pro/semi-pro writers who gushed positive about the sound of these, I ask, “Compared to what?” Were you paid to be so effusive, or were your previous speakers pretty much poor quality? Given, they're not nearly as bad or trash sounding as some speakers can be. I give them a sound quality of ‘fair’ overall, and a wee bit better than fair for their size, but these speakers exaggerate some frequencies and while suppressing others in a way that, as I hear them, affects the sound.
Summary: disappointed.
Hi DaveAlly, thanks for posting your feedback about the Nest Audio, and we’re sorry to learn that it’s a disappointment for you.
If you haven’t yet, you can turn up the volume of your Nest speaker by tapping its right side. You can also try the following steps that might improve the sound quality of your Nest speaker.
How to adjust the volume: - Make sure your mobile device or tablet is connected to the same Wi-Fi network or linked to the same account as your Nest Audio. - Open the Google Home app. - Tap your speaker, then adjust the volume.
How to change the audio settings of your Nest Audio in the Google Home app: - Make sure your mobile device or tablet is connected to the same Wi-Fi or linked to the same account as your Nest Audio. - Open the Google Home app. - Tap the device you want to adjust, select Settings, select Audio, then select Equalizer. - Adjust Bass and Treble level.
There could be other several reasons why your Nest speakers aren’t working properly, and we’d like to have an opportunity to investigate your concern. If you’re willing to share more about this, please reach out to us anytime here: https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp
