I read that this was a "feature" to auto-connect when you use YouTube Music. There didn't seem to be any way to overcome this flaw in the app. I returned it.

This is not designed to be an audio device, but a voice assistant. If you turn off the mic, the device turns on always-on lights that can't be turned off, which will annoy anyone in a dark room such as a bedroom. There have been thousands of requests to Google to allow these lights to be turned off, but Google has been tone deaf to this need. I've interfaced directly with Google to make the case for this feature, but I was told their priority is to have this device as a voice assistant so that they can collect voice data and generate revenue on the sale of that data. There is no consideration or priority to make this a moderately functional speaker. This device has slightly better audio than the pathetic audio that the Nest Mini has, but it's still not remotely good. The only reason to buy this device is for the improved audio, but the added cost does not justify the minor audio improvement.

Ok, but...

I have a portable JBL Flip 4 which sounds better, just not crazy about the look of it so I wanted to try this. Also, Google isn't as easy to setup or as user friendly as the Amazon Alexa's. Knowing that going in would make it easier.

Just say, “Hey Google” to play your favorite songs from the streaming services you use most or get help. And create a home audio system with your other Nest speakers. Listen in stereo sound or all around the house. Or say, “Hey Google, move my music to the bedroom speaker,” and it follows you. Nest Audio is designed to fit right into your home.
