Customers are saying
Customers are enthusiastic about the Nest Wifi Add-On Point's ease of use, significantly improved Wi-Fi coverage and range, and strong signal strength. Many appreciate its seamless mesh network integration and the added convenience of the Google Assistant. While some find the price high and the lack of Ethernet ports a drawback, the positive feedback on performance and setup outweighs these concerns for most users.

Descriptions are NOT accurate
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. All the descriptions say this can be added to an existing Google WiFi network. This is not true. If you have the older model router/ wifi points, stick with those.

Posted .Hi Champy, thanks for reaching out. We apologize for the difficult experience you have in setting up your Google Wifi with Nest Wifi.
Nest Wifi requires a Nest Wifi Router and is compatible with both Google Nest Wifi points as well as Google Wifi points. If you have a Google Wifi Point setup as a primary point, you may need to configure Nest Wifi Router as your default router connected to your modem using an Ethernet cable. You may then connect both Nest Wifi Points and Google Wifi Points wirelessly to your Nest Wifi Router. To learn more about configuring Nest Wifi and Google Wifi, check out this help article: https://support.google.com/wifi/answer/7182840
If you will still have some difficulty setting up Nest Wifi with your existing Google Wifi, we'd be happy to help you set it up. You can reach out to our Google Wifi technical support team here: https://support.google.com/wifi/gethelp

Unreliable with poor tech support
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been receiving notifications several times a day that this unit has gone offline. I did a full factory reset. I removed it from the Google Home app. I chatted with Google customer service for an hour. Still getting notified it’s offline. Terrible support. Unreliable product. I tried to return it to Best Buy, but it’s been 2 months, so I kinda have to eat the cost on this. I’m not happy about the situation.

Posted .Hi Edmond, thanks for bringing this to our attention. We're sorry to hear that your Nest Wifi and support experience has been a letdown. Your Nest Wifi uses DHCP, a common internet connection protocol. Check with your internet service provider if they don't support DHCP but require a different protocol like PPPoE or use Static IPs, to make the necessary changes.
Even though you may have already contacted our support team, we'd like to take another look at your Nest Wifi device and help you with the issue to improve your experience. Please feel free to reach out to us again at Nest Wifi Help page: https://support.google.com/wifi/gethelp

Google mesh

Very poor customer support
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very poor customer support. Have been unable to connect a nest wifi point, and no support available. The chat line is unavailable and no phone support. Online support has the standard advice to unplug and replug, and press factory reset all of which I tried to no avail. Investigate other mesh systems before this one.

Posted .Hi RonAnthony,
Thanks for letting us know of the set up issue you have with Google Wifi. Unfortunately, our support lines have been impacted by the ongoing pandemic and we are currently limited to provide support only via chat and email channels as well as our community and other social media platforms.
Google Wifi and Nest Wifi are compatible to form a Wi-Fi mesh. We recommend setting up Nest Wifi router as the primary Nest Wifi Router wired to your modem/router combo. You will also need to set your combo in Bridge mode or disable its Wi-Fi functionality to avoid connectivity issues caused by Double NAT. You can find out more about how to combine them in a Wi-Fi mesh system here: https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9548099

Posted .Hi Director,
Thanks for sharing your feedback with us. We're sorry to hear of the difficulty setting up your Nest Wifi with your Google Wifi.
If you're combining Nest Wifi and Google Wifi together, we recommend setting up the Nest Wifi Router as your primary router directly wired to your modem, and then connect Nest Wifi Points and Google Wifi Points to the primary router.
And if your Nest Wifi keeps disconnecting, you may need to check if you are using a modem/router combo for your Internet connection. We recommend setting it in bridge mode, or disable its Wi-Fi functionality and just keep your Nest Wifi Router as your primary router. This will help prevent a double NAT issue that may happen when you have two routers broadcasting their own private networks which may interfere with each other and cause disconnection between your connected devices.
If you still encounter the same issue, then we may need to learn more about your experience and understand what may be causing it. We'd love to improve your experience if you can contact us here: https://support.google.com/wifi/contactflow

Posted .Hi Drew, thanks for taking the time to share your feedback. We regret to hear about the Wi-Fi coverage issue with your Nest Wifi.
The Nest Wifi router can cover up to 2200 square feet and each Nest Wifi point can cover up to 1600 square feet. However, Wi-Fi signal coverage may be affected by different factors and we recommend trying out some tips below to help isolate the issue:
- As a general rule, points work best when they’re no more than two rooms away from each other. For example, if the far end of your house has weak Wi-Fi, don’t put a Wifi point in that exact spot. Instead, put it part way in that direction. Try to place it in an elevated position like on a shelf.
- Building materials and other objects located between your Nest Wifi Points and mobile devices may slow your connection. If possible, try to use your device within a clear line of sight to your primary and secondary Points.
- There could be signal interference due to traffic on your Wi-Fi network, on your neighbors' Wi-Fi networks, or from other sources like microwaves or baby monitors.
If you'd like us to take a look at the issue, feel free to contact our support team so we can help you further. You can visit our help page using this link: https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp

Posted .Hi there LaneG, thanks for informing us about the issue. We're sorry to hear that your network goes offline when connecting your Nest Wifi Point to your network.
Here are some helpful steps you can try out. You can skip the steps that you already performed, and move on to the next troubleshooting step:
- Make sure any offline Wifi devices are powered on and that all cables are secure. If your device is hardwired, check that your Ethernet cables are correctly connected to another Wifi point or switch. Learn more about how to set up hardwired devices.
- Unplug the Wifi device that is offline and plug it back in.
- Open the Google Home app and then touch and hold your device's tile and then Settings > and then Restart Wifi point.
- Perform a mesh test to confirm your devices are working properly. Here's how: https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/7620337
- Check that your points are within range of your router or primary Wifi point. You might need to move the point closer towards your router or another mesh point.
- Run a mesh test again.
- Factory reset your offline device, wait until the light indicates that your device is ready to set up, then add your Google Nest Wifi point or additional router or Google Wifi point again.

Posted .Hi MrBuggs, thanks for reaching out to our support team. We're sorry to hear that you are experiencing connection drops with your Nest Wifi.
Connectivity issues may be affected by Wi-Fi interference like physical barriers which may cause the limited ranges and slower connection to the Internet. As a general rule, Wifi Points work best when they’re no more than two rooms away from each other. You can check this link to see an estimate of how much Wi-Fi coverage you’ll get with a Google Nest Wifi and guide you on how many Nest Wifi Points you need: https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/7182840
If you are using a modem/router combo, setting it up in bridge mode and disabling its Wi-Fi functionality may prove to be helpful. This will avoid any network issues caused by both your combo and Nest Wifi Router, broadcasting the same SSID and password. You may then connect your Nest Wifi Router to your modem using an Ethernet cable, and then connect your Nest Wifi Points to your Nest Wifi Router wirelessly.
If the issue is still persistent, we recommend speaking to any of our support specialists by visiting the Google Nest support page here: https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp

Nest Wifi add-on newly finished basement
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We recently finished our basement and that added another 1400 square feet of finished space. With that being said I already had the nest wifi with 2 additional point and since my mother-in-law was the recipient of our newly finished basement we added another point to make sure our wifi signal was strong throughout our entire home. Works as advertised and we are pleased with the system

not great for google domains (gsuite) cusotmers
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.it dis great what i purchased it for - the WIFI mesh and range extension for my house. What is disappointing are its google home related features - assistant and such. As a google workspace customer - i want to have my personal domain for my email - i am unable to use a lot of google home features including inviting my family members (who also use my personal email domain) as members of the 'home'. The reason for it is that sometime ago google 'decided' that anyone who uses personal domains with google is considered a 'business' or 'enterprise, which doesn't mix well with using the consumer oriented solutions like this one . This happened years after me becoming google domain customer so i am hugely disappointed. GOOGLE - you guys got it completely wrong and i am surprised. It shows severe shortsightedness on you part!

Need for speed
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Upgraded service at home to 500Mb fiber but the old Google Wi-Fi did not handle the additional throughput so upgraded the mesh solution to new Nest. Yes cheaper solutions are available but I have confidence in Google's equipment and continued patch management. Plus I applaud Google for the decision to move manufacturing out of China to Taiwan. Amazes me that other companies are not doing the same thing or that Americans are still buying China products when options are available.
