Best Router for Google Nest Users

We kept having issues with speed, buffering and being able to watch 4K movies with our last router. We had 100 megabytes per second and only got as high as 74. So after looking into the google nest router 2 pack, we read reviews and all were good. We already had the nest doorbell and monitor so it was an easy choice for us after being so happy with the other google product. Easy install and portable device syncing. We have the main router in our office and that works great for all of the devices we use on a regular basis as well as the Xbox in the basement. The other one is up stairs for all the smart TVs. No issues at all since our purchase.

The strongest, most reliable mesh WiFi system I have ever owned. Although not the newest (purchased in 2021, review written in 2023) in technology anymore, it supports our over 30 connected devices seamlessly and works very will with the Google Home app. Love the convenience of a "guest" network. Upgraded to 4 total points (including router) to cover 2400 of home living space (plus a basement) and .5 acres of yard space. [Note: These are NOT outdoor wifi access points--must be used indoors.]

Google Nest Mesh is a great system. I used it in my home that was 5500 sq ft and it covered all ends of the house quite well.

    Solved our dead zone problems

We had some pretty serious Wifi dead zones in our place, one of which was my wife's office. She's been a remote employee for 15 years, and her whole job is through IT. It was due to the fact that the default router from Spectrum could only be located in one area - an area that was the furthest from her office. I first tried an extender but it never worked. I read a review (PC Mag I think) about the Google Nest, and bought it. I replaced the default router with the Nest router and set up the two add-on points -- one in her office. It was easy to setup and the two add-on points got rid of every dead zone in our place. Highly recommend it.

Increased my internet speeds substantially while widening the range in my house. I had several dead zones in my 2,000 sq ft house and this fixed that! Super easy to set up but a tad pricy.

Super Fast - huge improvement over my last router, which was "top of the line" 4 years ago. Never had any issues with connectivity or dropping signals. Signal goes much further than in the past too.

Fix WiFi signal only & not your bad internet speed

Super easy to setup, strong signal for the whole house and even backyard now. However, people need to know if your internet connection is slow, this is NOT going to help you. But if your cable modems is at the farthest corner of the house, like me, and the opposite corner of the house got no WiFi signal, then this will fix the problem. One complaint, you can turn off the Google assistance on the access point but an orange ring will eliminates all the time. Kind of annoying. Also, no google assistance on the main route, so don’t shout “OK Google” to it, it won’t respond. LOL.

Good once installed, but not quite plug and play.

First, the gripe: This mesh wifi router system is stated to be very much plug and play and straightforward to install. I did not find it to be quite as simple as the hype, and also found that the Add-On Points were not consistent in their behavior one to the other when installing around our home. There may be a firmware or production lot issue impacting this, and there are likely some signal integrity issues with our 5BR 3 story home, so I recognize the behavior may not be totally the result of the mesh points. I have a sufficient understanding of these devices, having a PhD in EE and practicing in my field, but I still found the installation process less than clear - I even read the manuals before installation! While the Google Home installation process worked, there were inconsistencies in the mesh node installation from one device to the other that ultimately required some rebuilding of the configurations that was not as clean as a first pass install would have been. My 4 stars primarily relates to the less than ideal installation experience. It is not a terrible experience, but not what was communicated. Now the praise: Once installed, the system seems to be working flawlessly and the distributed mesh points, while perhaps not as fast as a WiFi 6 mesh system might be, have not dropped a single device and seem to be partitioning bandwidth reasonably between devices as defined. So, for operation, the WiFi router and two mesh points are working perfectly. They sometimes generate some warmth, with 7 computers and 7 phones/tablets/IoT devices in the house calling for bandwidth, but have never been hot even with 4 different Zoom meetings going at once. So far, it has managed our household. I even like the understated/subtle off-white rounded cylinder style. It is a home appliance, and doesn't need to stand out, but has a clean look - better than a black dusty wedge bristling with sophomoric antenna. It is a very serviceable system, and worthy of your consideration. It is fast and stable with connections, but not WiFi 6 compatible. Other mesh systems with a dedicated back channel to the router of the same vintage are faster. As with all electronics, it is not perfect. Go into the installation process with patience and some time to dig into the nuanced settings in Google Home to properly install the mesh. Yes, I would buy this again.

I’ve always used WiFi extenders. What an unbelievable difference going from extenders to this mesh WiFi. I can go room to room and I still have full bars. No having to switch to the other connection from the WiFi extender. This just naturally keeps your WiFi connection at full speed. I can go out to the shed or to the basement and I still have full bars. This mesh system is so worth it. So easy to set up too. The WiFi extenders take a bit to set up. They aren’t complicated. But this is almost too easy to set up. You think you still have more to do and you don’t! It’s done! Amazing system.

Flawless. I first purchased the previous google mesh wifi model as I wanted the ethernet ports at the points and didn't want/need the assistant. I was unable to easily set up the mesh with that previous model and returned it for this product. Set up was a breeze and we were up and running in no time. The voice option can be turned off, I've been completely fine without have ethernet ports so far and the ability to play apple music throughout my house is great.
