A great workgroup switch

If you're interested in a workgroup/desktop/AV cabinet network switch or a conference room tombstone type network switch, this is a fantastic product.
As others mention, just about every possible mounting option is covered - attach the click plate to your desktop/wall/desk leg using the provided screws or zip ties, then just click the switch into place. There are two different mounting options for the switch onto the plate - on the back or on the side, so you can pretty much mount it anywhere it will fit. The power cable also is semi-reversible so you can have the cable protrude perpendicular or parallel to the switch mounting. It's actually pretty clever.
As for performance, it's a very capable Gigabit switch with LAN segmentation and QOS configuration. For it's intended audience (as mentioned earlier - workgroup/desktop) it is more than adequate. There isn't a whole lot of documentation, but it doesn't really require a lot of fiddling to get it active on the network. The provided software will allow you to find/manage the switch if you need as well.
It's slightly large for the # of ports, but it's not unwieldy. Unless you're mounting on a table/desk, the USB ports aren't particularity useful or required, but they're there for those types of installations.
Overall, a great little switch.

This is a great switch to use near your desk. You can easily mount it below the desk and it has a convenient setup. I had no issues with connectivity with all of my devices. I did receive the item as a part of the Netgear test program.

First off, I received this product free as part of the NETGEAR Friends and Family Program.
The switch works well straight out of the box. It is a nice change from the standard box switches or hubs. The mounting options make it convenient for most people to mount it in a way that suits their needs. The two USB ports for charging are nice so you have one more spot in the house to charge without moving cables back and forth or buying an extra. The ability to turn off the LED lights in the event you put it near the TV where they would be noticeable is also a nice feature to have in the event you watch TV in the dark.
The only negative I have noticed is that it could be a little shorter in length. It extends 3-4" past the last port which is wasted space and would be nice to make it a little smaller profile. That reason plus the fact I haven't had a chance to test longevity are the only reasons I am giving it 4 instead of 5 stars.

DO NOT update firmware

With the help of Netgear tech support, I have now bricked two of these by trying to upgrade the firmware. The switch ships with firmware 1.0 which has a bug that limits performance substantially. Firmware 1.0.0.1 allegedly fixes this, but it trashes your switch. And, you can't even install the upgrade to the firmware unless you have a TFTP server.
I have been a Netgear customer for many years and have multiple switches in my business and home. Stay away from this one! If you do not need a managed switch, Netgear tech support recommended the GS108 as a better product. If you need a managed switch with the Click Switch, buy the GSS116E. The firmware update is supposed to work.
Bottom line, if you purchase this item and do not upgrade the firmware, you are not getting the performance you think you are getting. And, if you do update the firmware, you will have problems.

I have to restart this switch everyday. It quits working. I don't know if I got a defective one or more than likely got what I paid for a cheap switch. I will not be buying another netgear.
