Big disappointment

I bought another Netgear router because my last one was so easy to use. Surprise, this R6250 is a complicated mess and I could not get it to find my printer, and the 5 Ghz setting cannot be found on my devices. I tried chat support which was basically worthless, then I called for support and eventually got started with a girl in China or somewhere, she put me on hold and I was finally left with a dial tone. So, first thing in the morning this thing is going right back to Best Buy and I will get a different brand. I had at least two Netgear routers before this, but now I am so disappointed they have lost me as a customer.

I spent days trying to fix the wifi connection. First day, I was on the phone for 3 hours trying to fix my N150 router. No mater what Netgear's customer service did, nothing work. The Netgear rep remotely logged onto my computer to fix my issue and it made my wifi even worse. My desktop was fine, but not the wifi. He suggested I buy a new router. So I bought a new one last night, a R6250. Again,I ended up spending 4 hours on the phone with Netgear customer service because the wifi was too slow (19 mbps). The R6250, it only improved my wifi a little, barely even. After hours on the phone with the Netgear rep and after I started to get very frustrated, the call accidentally dropped off and even though they say they will call you back if the call is disconnected, I did not a call back. I am very frustrated with this product. I am going to return it.

Not a modem/router

If you are looking for a modem/router this is not it. It does pop up under the modem/router category so you may be lead to believe that this is a modem/router. This is only a router which i now have to return because of the websites false categorization. I would hope that Best Buy should fix this.

Nice router for the money

I needed a router that handles moderate streaming and internet usage and this one seems to fit the bill. The router is in the basement and I only get poor to fair reception at the opposite end of the house but it still does what it's supposed to do. it always connects quickly and I'm happy with it so far.

Poor Poor Customer Service,

I will never buy a Netgear product again and I am furious with their customer service department. I purchased their R6250 router because the guy helping me at Best Buy said it was a good product. It was fine until there was a hardware issue where the signal range abruptly lost about 90 percent of its strength. This happened when it was about 3 months old. My first reflection of my experience with their customer service, is it would be kinder to put a bullet through my brain than to deal with their technical support department again. I spent way over three hours total on the telephone, while their service tech did every conceivable to the software, My cell phone battery had to be recharged during the call twice. The first tech rep took two hours of time, with about half of that with me being hold before he said his supervisor needed to take over. His supervisor repeated every thing the first one did but kept insisting it was a software issue. Finally about an hour an a half later he said it was obviously a hardware issue. Which is what I told them initially. Three and a half hours for what was obvious. Then they sent me and email with an RMA number. I was told to send in my router to their location and in ten days they will send back to me a new one. I need my router for work, so that is not an option for me. When I called them to arrange another form of shipping. Guess what in their phone system there is no option in customer support to actually talk to a person who handles shipping or customers. So eventually I chose technical support, who after many minutes of waiting on hold, I was told to go on line and figure it out for myself. There is no option on-line to change the shipping after the RMA form was initially completed. So I am going to have to buy a new router because I can't wait ten days. Had I known I would have to wait well over three hours, I would of gladly paid the 100 plus bucks for a new router to be spared this terrible experience and would of been glad to do so. I will never buy a product from them again. I have purchased many of their products over the years and this router will be the last.

I purchased this router as an upgrade to my old Netgear router. I had to call Netgear several times before the router would stay connected. I get better performance from my 3 year old router. I wish I had left well enough alone.

The absolute worst router i've ever purchased. It was a quick setup and I kinda like the Netgear Genie app, however I rarely got to use the app because the router kept kicking my phone off the network. My home entertainment remote system kept getting kicked off, my computers, tablets --- nothing would keep a connection. I tried resetting up several times with different SSIDs / Password combos, nothing worked. I thought it would be a great router based on other reviews but it didn't work more than 30 minutes for me.

Failed after 1 week and terrible RMA process

It died after 2 weeks (outside of Best Buy's return period) and trying to get an RMA from Netgear was a horrible experience. The router failed and there were no LEDs at all on even though the Netgear logo was lit. After going through several diagnostic steps which included confirming that yes, there were no lit LEDs, the customer service rep insisted on troubleshooting the router further with a computer hard wired to it even though I don't have one (I have tablets and a laptop with only wifi). I asked why I couldn't just send it back and have them troubleshoot the problem but they have to "exhaust all troubleshooting steps" before I could get an RMA. Now I will need to borrow a computer just so I can go through even more worthless troubleshooting steps and waste further time. Needless to say, I will never buy another Netgear product.

Intermittently internet connection issues

This router was purchased on June 30, 2016, and is under the one year warranty. I called netgear and rep quoted me a fee to assist me after I explained the issues I started having in December with the router. My internet service provider has checked my lines and the IT tech from the company I work for has checked connections issues and determined it is the router malfunctioning. I paid $108.00 for this router that has failed after six months. Do not buy netgear. What good is their one year warranty if you have to pay their tech support fee and is that legal? I can't tell you how many hours I've spent trying to determine it is in fact the router. I even took it back to Best Buy and I didn't expect them to accept it as a return but had hopes of something being done no longer than the router lasted.

Decent speed. Terrible signal

I bought this router for a smaller house with a couple of devices on the router. It started out as a great router but over the past month its become progressively worse. My room is maybe 10 feet away from the router and I constantly have terrible, if not dropped; signals on my laptops, tv and phone. Speeds are okay at best. After reading some reviews I thought this would be a great router for the price. Wish I would of spent the extra money for a better router because this one is not what I wanted. Unfortunately I'm stuck with it since I messed around with it for too long and passed the return period. Netgear is a great product, but this one is a dud..

Poor signal coverage.

My house is 1700 square feet. The product information and Best Buy rep advised that this router would provide adequate coverage for my house. My wireless laptop and tablet would only get a signal if I was in the same room as the router. I bought a 2nd one same make and model and the same issue occured. I returned it and went with a Linksys and I haven't had a problem since.
