Defective after less than a year.

Owned for 1 year when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Router was working fine for the first couple months, and was receiving my advertised ISP speeds (300mbps over 5ghz wifi). However after 5 months my wifi speeds began bogging down for no apparent reason. It has now gotten to the point where it is rare that I get over 30mbps down over wifi AND the router continuously crashes and requires a restart every other day. Have tested my connection with a different router and speeds are perfectly fine. After hours spent troubleshooting, factory resetting, downgrading the firmware, and following Netgear community threads, I eventually came to the conclusion that a hardware issue was more than likely the cause of my issues. Their online support page states that you can RMA a device if you've purchased the product within the past year - but you only have 60 days of free support after you've purchased?? Netgear support was less than helpful and advised me I'd need to purchase a $120 support plan to get assistance which is more money than this router is worth.. why would I have to give you money just for you to tell me my router is defective? Will not be purchasing any other Netgear products moving forward.
