    Solid router, performs well

I've been running this router for about a month and a half now. For the most part, I'm pleased. Signal strength for the wireless network is fairly strong, and has a pretty good range. Performance over the time we've been running it has been consistent (as you'd expect), with no significant problems. The firewall had the features I needed, including port forwarding and the ability to reserve LAN addresses. These features are fairly easy to manage, once I figured out where they put things. I'm not thrilled with the admin interface. Its a little hard to find my way around. The division between advanced features and basic features seems unhelpful, and I end up clicking around more than I'd like to figure out how to do things. I'd put this on the low end of admin interfaces for routers I've worked with. The android app doesn't fare much better. On the other hand, I was able to do what I needed eventually. One major shortcoming is that it doesn't support SSL on the admin interface from inside the network. This might not be a huge deal--its a home route and the network is private--but it surprised me not to be able to turn on encryption for the admin interface. Over all, it does the job, and has performed well, so if an intuitive admin UI isn't a key consideration, I'd recommend it.

    NETGEAR R7000P... wow

I'm a member of NETGEAR's review program and received this router free to test and review. I decided it was time to replace my AT&T Uverse supplied wifi. My wireless devices (Xbox, FireTv, laptops, and tablets) were downloading at about 18-20 Mbps. I shut off my AT&T wifi and followed the instructions on the supplied Quick Start Guide as well as the "NETGEAR Up" App to get up and running in less than 10 minutes. After the first speed test I'm downloading at 51 Mbps! I'm also getting a strong signal all throughout the house. Huge improvement. MU-MIMO = Multiple Users - Multiple Input Multiple Output... translated from geek to English means no more bogged down connections when your wife and kids are streaming their shows. Next items on the todo list are integrating my Amazon Echo and setting up a personal cloud storage on the router. In summary; works great, easy to install, loaded with features. Great value and would highly recommend.

    Netgear AC2300 Works Great!

I bought the Nighthawk AC2300 Smart Router (model R7000P) to replace an eight year old Netgear router that was dropping signal more and more frequently - and required an extender to reach our master bedroom on the second floor. Set up was very easy, and the Nighthawk app lets me see all devices attached - including a function that can pause connection to any of these devices. I can also run speed tests and wifi analytics, monitor UL/DL traffic, and engage parental controls from within the app. The Netgear Armor security, again easily monitored from the app, is only free for a short time, but is reasonably costed if you want to keep it. We can connect 4 tablets, 3 cellphones, a laptop (on Zoom for school), a Chromebook, X-Box One, and wifi-connected security camera all without any issues or drops. No need for the extender now, and I set the router to automatically switch each connected device between 2.4 and 5.0 GHz as needed, depending on where users are in the home. And I feel confident that as the Internet of Things grows and our data needs increase over time, the AC2300 will be able to handle the amount and speed we'll require for the next several years.

We dreaded the thought of installing a new WiFi router thinking we would have to change passwords on all of our WiFi/Smart devices (6 smart TVs, a ring doorbell, 2 iPads, 2 iPhones, 3 WiFi cams, 2 Fitbit scales, a Furbo dog cam, 2 laptops, and 2 echos...whew!). Setup couldn’t have been any easier. We downloaded the Netgear Nighthawk app and followed the on screen instructions. We were given the option to name the new router the same as the old and use the same password so that nothing would have to be reprogrammed with new passwords. This was a lifesaver! The range on this router is exceptional. We have a 2 story home with the router being on one end of the house. We get service upstairs to most of the area. We did also purchase an extender as there were a few dead spots. The speed is super fast and we are very happy with this purchase. I will warn you that there are a tone of bright lights on this router. If you are like me, the tiniest lights can keep me up at night. Through online research we have found that all lights can be disabled (with exception of power light), but we have not been able to do this successfully yet.

    Wi-Fi problems have gone away!

After a year and a half with a combo modem/router, I got frustrated with the signal strength and constant rebooting of the device after Wi-Fi access would lock up. I decided to separate the two, so first I bought this router and instantly it made a huge difference in speed and signal strength. After a couple weeks and another reboot of the modem with the Wi-Fi radio turned off, I got the cable companies free modem only, and now all the prior problems have disappeared. Separating the devices makes a difference!

This one has a good range, was easy to set up and all my devices are staying connected. So far not a single problem. I also tried a Mesh Orbi that was supposed be for 5,000 sf house but the Orbi had weak signal. At the base unit of Orbi only got two bars when laptop was 20 feet away. I needed strong signal to reach a wifi lock and this one AC2300 has very signal, even through walls. I ended up returning the Orbi and a modem so just going to stick with this one. We have several laptops, phones, tablets, locks, Roku, AppleTV, and no problems at all so far. It is rather ugly compared to an Apple Airport of the Orbi but have my modem and router on a shelf in a corner, and needed router with strong signal and reliable. It was also very easy to set up and install, USB ports work, even with old HP usb printer, and extra port for usb fan. So I'm very pleased with this so far.

This is a really great product. Simple to set up and use. The app for my phone is great for monitoring usage activity and who is actually connected and using the your internet connection. It has the power to reach all through the house with no dead spots, and fast enough for all of my needs.

Install was very straight forward, download the app and its pretty simple from there. I really like that it has provisions to wall mount it which is nice for us. The range on the 2.5g covers our back yard which goes through 1 wall/door and is about 75' away at the farthest point. Still hitting same down load speeds as if I was right next to it. I have not tried the 5g other than to make sure it works. One note I will make that it is VERY BRIGHT at night. The led lights shine 3x as bright as the night light we had plugged in near it. This is mounted in our kitchen (most central point in our house) but if it was in a bed room it would light up the room at night. That is my only reason for a 4 start rating.

Made a big difference at my son's shotgun-style college off-campus house, and extended his coverage all way into the back yard. The old router barely reached the back of the house. The app made it very easy to set up and share setup information for devices.

The range and speed of this router are exactly what I was looking for, works great in a large home with many devices. only 4 stars because I do have trouble with the ReadyShare feature from time to time, but that could be the external hard drive acting up.

Upgraded my modem and got this router so they could actually handle the internet speed I was paying for. This is fast and works great. I can connect outside on the porch and in the driveway. Xbox on a different floor works great on wifi too. It neess to be reset once a month on average. That's way better than previous routes I've had that need to be reset a few times a week.

I run many different items off my router and they were very slow. This router was recommended by cable tech rep. At first I thought this was pricey, but it is well worth the money. All my devices run a lot faster and I can sit on my outside patio and get great speed on my IPad.

We bought this when our older router/modem died. The speeds provided are great for just about anything and we don't see any issues when my wife and I are both online (sometimes both watching videos). The range is awesome. I am able to stream music while mowing our yard (normal suburban lot). There's also an App you can download to control different aspects of the router. This has come in handy to determine who is connected to the router.

Stability, Speed, Security, and a Subscription

I purchased this router while it was on sale to replace a failing carrier supplied router. It responds better (latency); has much better speeds and range in 5G (we usually get over 400 mbps up/down and good signal throughout an entire 2600 sq ft home); and, stability is much better as well, as I've only been kicked from the wifi once since the purchase a month ago, compared to multiple times a day (a nearby military airbase gives off plenty of electromagnetic radiation that interferes, nearly all my neighbors complain of getting kicked constantly). The only drawback I have with this router is that its firewall and monitoring features require the purchase of an annual subscription. The cost varies a bit with deals, but can still cost up to $5 a month. Add the parental control software and you can pay up to $10 a month. It's not a bad deal, but there are routers out there that provide similar services for free. At least for now, anyway.

This is the second Netgear route of this type I have purchased. This one is very fast and has not gone down once or required restarting. The signal is strong throughout the apartment. It took a little longer than expected to set up but overall the setup was fairly easy. I like the Netgear software that allows me to more easily block or allow access to my network. It is a little more expensive than other routers but worth the money.

Very easy and simple to set up with the Night Hawk app. My spreads nearly doubled especially when downloading. Streaming has much improved even when there is heavy traffic. I was recommended these series of routers by family and I could not be happier with my purchase.
