I'll cut to the chase. Ethernet stayed strong under continuous heavy usage and although the wifi did hold on for a good while, the wifi went to crap after 6 months.
Pack Loss (data loss) tests for wifi connections on the 5GHz frequency are now giving an average of 60% loss... To put that into perspective, think of the worst cellphone reception you've ever had during a call, where only short bits of digital noise made its way through.... you were probably experiencing 10%-20% packet loss.... 60% is digital death, the card or antenna in the modem is shot.
It's possible I got a lemon; and as I said before the Ethernet stayed strong. So my advise is buy extended protection like I did to cover your investment incase this happens to you.

The NETGEAR is rated as one of the best. Yes, the Router and Cable Modem are very good. However, the Nighthawk app is the Jar Jar Binks of apps. Hard to understand and overly complicates what should be an easy set-up and monitoring of devices an system.

Had to upgrade because My internet plan was not compatible with my modem and router setup. I'm able to get a connection everywhere in my house except for one spot in the basement which is a total dead zone for everything and I don't stay down there anyway. I don't even have to use my wifi extender, which isn't compatible either. I'm happy with it.

We updated from an older Netgear cable modem and router. It was trouble free and reliable for over 5 years. We went to Wi-Fi 6 because we have much more smart items in our home (over 16) and the added bandwidth was needed.
The installation and setup was easy and straightforward. We did have to contact Xfinity to finish the cable modem transfer but that was simple to do with them.
All in all, I find the Nighthawk app features that came with it extremely useful and informative.

Our Surfboard modem stopped connecting to the internet and we needed to replace it. We opted for this one this time. We like that it has 8-stream capability even if we don't need it that high, still good just in case. Seems to have stronger connection to reach out kids' consoles that are set up using the wifi downstairs. Hopefully this one lasts longer than the Surfboard did, we had that one for 2 years.
