I finally decided to ditch the rental modem bandwagon and buy my own. After looking for one, I decided to go with a modem and router combo. The ease of set up was easy. Simple call to Cox and it was activated. Using the app to set the modem up was easy enough. Quickly changed my pass words and was ready to go. After the firmware update, I like the Armour feature that protects my connection from unwanted connections and helps my family from dangerous ads. Number one, fast and simple. The app is an excellent companion to use.

    Unstable Wi-Fi signal

Customer support is great. But the bad Wi-Fi signal keeps coming back to me. Maybe it is just my item? Wired speed can always get to the max speed of my plan, but the Wi-Fi signal is unstable, sometimes can reach the high speed, but I have been experienced 4-6Mbps multiple times. Hence I returned the product and get a modem from another brand which has very stable Wi-Fi signal so far.

Very Fast & Reliable Router-Cable Modem Combo

The Nighthawk CAX80 unclogged my bottle neck in my home network. Previously my internet connection would get disconnected. I called my cable provider, Xfinity to come out & test my connection. The Xfinity technician, told me that my connection is being bogged down by old cable modem. Once I installed the Nighthawk CAX80 with my Nighthawk RAX75 router & my two Nighthawk EAX80 wireless repeaters, I have full coverage through out my whole house, including my garage with a very fast connection & no loss of internet connection. My household is very dependent with everyone being at home working remotely & going to school online. I highly recommend the CAX80modem router combo. What a night & day differnece once the Nighthawk CAX80 was installed.

    Nighthawk Swoops In!

I have a two-story condo with a lot of brick. My office is at the highest and most furthest point from my router (after optimal placement). With the pandemic grounding most of us in business, I have been conducting online meetings rather than in person. My kids are both learning remotely and my wife is also conducting online meetings. My old router was dying. I upgraded and that one was still dying. I decided to upgrade to the Nighthawk and increase my data plan to 1000 MB per second. Blammo, problem solved! The hardware and bandwidth is so important when it comes to these online meetings. I highly recommend Nighthawk if you have a large space, just make sure you give it the bandwidth it needs to download and upload to its full capability. You’ll be very impressed, enjoy!

    Netgear CAX80 Gateway (Modem&Wi-Fi Router)

My local Best Buy had 2 in stock. I was able to bring it home and activate it with my Comcast - Xfinity provider without issue. After initially having some issues with service to the house that Xfinity resolved (A new line run to the house due to a slit in the original coax line, and some maintenance as the tech wasn't able to get 50Mps Upload on the trunk as he should have.) Things took a couple of days to settle in, but now I get @ 700Mbps Down and @ 24Mbps Up. Outstanding Gateway! Easy to set up with the Netgear Nighthawk App in my Android phone.

I purchased the CAX80 to replace failing customer owned equipment that I use with Xfinity Internet. Speed tests are coming in at 116% of my plan limit. I appreciate the notifications on my Apple Watch when new devices come online and the ability to rename each device in the list of connected devices. This combo router has good performance and features.

Solid device. Its lasted me 4 years and counting now . It outputs the max ammount that my isp gives me and some! The only reason i take off a star is because it does slow to about half speed output after a week or 2 of a lot of use with no restart . Restart brings it back up to normal but it is kind of a hassel to restart every so often to make sure im up to my usual speeds

Was on DoSc 3.0 WiFi-5. Needed to upgrade to DoSc 3.1. Upgraded the new architecture for internet and got a 2-1 device this time. Was using a cable modem and wireless router before. The range is better and the speed is amazing on my Xfinity Gig plan. Installation was super simple. Used the app to connect and activate with my Xfinity account. Never had to call them, which was nice

Got this Modem for our Xfinity Gig Service. Modem has been pretty stable. No reboots/hangs Get over 920/45 constantly from a wired PC. Only have one WiFi 6 client (iPhone 11) and that gets speedtest results of over 500/45, iPhone XS Max only gets 240/45 Coverage is decent with the modem in the basement. Definitely could use a compatible extender in larger homes to increase coverage (we get 2 bars /2.4 ghz on the second level bedroom which is on opposite side of the basement) Nice option if you prefer not to rent and need a rock solid modem the Parental controls are weak and would need a 3rd party device. Note: I got this modem free to test from Netgear.
