I was definitely hesitant when originally purchasing the Netgear Nighthawk wireless router, however, was pleasantly surprised with the ease of setting up the internet. Definitely a costly investment, but over time will pay off by having better signal throughout my home, and offering 2.4ghz/5ghz. I was being charged $6/month to use the ISP router, so in less than 2 years, it will have paid itself off with overall better service and hopefully minimal issues. Overall, very pleased with the purchase.

Had a NETGEAR R6300 & it bit the dust (Blinking Green Light of Death). Decided to replace it with a NETGEAR Nighthawk R7000 so I hope this one lasts longer than a year & a half. It does have a sleek design but it's size takes up a lot of real estate. The setup was relatively easy & so far it's been fast. Also like that it has Beamforming, which enables it to recognize where connected devices are & boost signal in their direction rather than throwing it out equally in all directions.

Easy to install, increased a lot the coverage/speed compared with my older model (netgear too).
The dual band is very useful as well the capacity to create guest network.
I connected a normal external hard drive (2 T bite) on the USB 3 port and every one in the house can access it to save or recovery data, from/for any smart device (phones, pads, computers and TVs) very fast.

Best Router ever owned

I previously had an ARRIS SURFboard SBG6700AC modem/router that I purchased new. We had to exchange it 3 times due to poor signal output and it kept dropping the WI-FI signal. We thought it was a problem on our service providers end, but after having them out on (2) separate occasions to analyze our network, we were told that it was the Modem/Router combo that was causing all of our problems. The Spectrum tech actually advised us to use the service providers modem at no additional cost to us and purchase the Nighthawk Router for our WI-FI. This was the best advice that we have had on our Wi-Fi network. The Nighthawk was an easy setup and it works like a champ. This is the best Wi-Fi network we have ever owned. It has great range throughout our 2400 sqft home and over 100 ft from my house. My WI-FI speeds now exceed 100Mps consistently and we have no buffering when streaming movies.

WE originally thought we needed to purchase a more expensive model to serve our needs. After discussing our home layout and size, the Best Buy sales person recommended this model. Saved us $ and was the perfect fit for our needs. Extremely satisfied. Have already recommended Best Buy in St. Matthews KY and this router to a friend who is in the market for a new one. Very knowledgeable salesperson!! Great product!! Happy customer.

This is a great router, it has excellent range and the speed is incredible. I've used Netgear. & Linksys routers in the past but nothing has been as good as the Nighthawk. It was very easy to setup and my wifi range is much better with this router. I would highly recommend you look at the new Netgear offerings before trying any other brand.

We live in a small condo but interference was always getting in the way of the wi-fi signal of our 2-in-1 cable modem/router. We added this router and we’re finally getting the speeds we’re supposed to. Our condo is three level about 1,800 sf. The router is in the middle floor and we didn’t get any extenders. Signal is excellent. I’m sure it’s also adequate for larger condos/homes.

Replaced an average Netgear router with this one and made a big difference. We live in a 1200sq ft ranch home and I have this located downstairs in the basement by the modem. We have 30meg Cable Internet service, and with this router, we pretty much have full signal Wi-Fi strength throughout the house. We have a total of 11 devices that we use for the internet and 7 of them are Wi-Fi. the other four are connected to the router via Ethernet. We play games on line via Xbox live and this so far has provided us with lag free gaming. The set up was easy as the router did most of it on its own. I did have to go into the settings and manually select the QoS (Quality of Service) but the menu already had Xbox services on the list I just had to turn it on. Really happy so far with this router after three days. I will update the review if I experience any problems over the next few weeks. If I don't update then all is still good.

My old router switched between 2.4GHz (longer range) and 5.0GHz (faster speed) automatically. With this router you need to set up two separate accounts. You get to pick only one or the other on your WiFi devices (ie: smart TV). Streaming 4K, although better than my previous router, is still not as smooth as it should be. I would like to see the higher speed 5.0GHz to have a better range which would be ideal for streaming 4K. The performance of the 2.4GHz is very good. I'm therefore having the cable company move my modem to a more centralized location of the home so I can hook up the main TV directly to the internet (avoid WiFi altogether) and hopefully take advantage of the 5.0 GHz speed on our other devices when needed. I was hoping to avoid this originally when I purchased the Nighthawk. Another minor gripe, the unit is bulky and has a wide footprint. It would have been nice if it could stand vertical like its main ASUS competitor AC68U. Netgear should include a simple plastic stand so the unit can stand vertically, it's already wall mountable.

Netgear has made the r7000 a snap to setup without being a techie. The r7000 has extended my network signal and range. I needed a router that would give me a stronger signal and greater range than my previous router. The r7000 was just the right product for my area. I have had the router a month and it is working flawlessly. I haven't had to do anything at all since I plug it in to the wall socket.

This thing is a beast! It's easy to set up and use as well, just plug it up and you're off. The LAN is pulling 100% of download speed from my modem. I have high-speed cable and this router works perfectly with it. The WiFi is unbelievable! I've never seen WiFi speeds this fast or this much range from a router! I can be online gaming with no lag at all while the rest of the family is on the Wii with tablets and smartphones. It comes with a password pre-set, so I haven't went into set-up yet. I may find even more features and speed once I spend some time with it; but right out of the box it's FAST!! The sticker shock takes some time to get over; but I'll never purchase another "regular" router again!! It's a MUST have!!

Easy to set up, screaming speed, and has been problem free for over a month now. The 5ghz and 2.4ghz networks are separate SSIDs. My old Airport Extreme had them both under one and "intelligently" assigned devices to the best one. The separation was a little off-putting at first, but I now like having control over which devices connect to which band. Very pleased with this router.

Easy to setup, great range, reliable, and fast. I stream on as many as 6 devices at a time with no lag. Gaming works like a champ too! I have an Xbox one and theee Xbox 360s and there’s no problems at all. I’d buy it again.

Trying to stream HDR Netflix,Amazon, etc so finally switched from centurylink(10Mbps tests at 6) to high-speed internet with comcast(55 Mbps tests at 65+). Wow I can really see the difference and no more buffering.
This change meant a new docsis modem(Arris-separate review) and figured I would upgrade my trusty 5yr old Netgear 600 router. I really didn't expect much but maybe better wifi coverage. I am blown away by the performance difference. Things have come a LONG way in 5yrs! This new Stealth ac1900 covers the entire house at 30-40Mbps wifi speeds. Don't even need the 2 dlink extenders i used with old 600. And the best I could get out of old wifi was 3-4Mbps so streaming to Rokus in bedrooms was painful. No more. Setup was easy except never got the QOS setup right. I don't really need it since I have the main HDR units(Vizio M65-d0 display and Roku Ultra) Hard wired with 15ft cat-6 cables. Everthing else is wifi-2 other rokus, 2 laptops, 1 desktop,1Tablet, google home, home mini, 3chromecast audios, 4 android phones. The old 600 was and still is a great reliable router but it wasn't really designed for all this new stuff. Well worth it to get the newer capabilities in the ac1900. Highly recommended

This router was an upgrade from an older Linksys one that was doing the job, but wasn't up to the increasing number of connected devices. The Nighthawk AC1900 provides far better coverage within our 2500 sq. ft. tri-level home and handles as many simultaneous connections as we can throw at it. Setup was a breeze using the companion Nighthawk app. Streaming movies are seamless, 5Ghz WIFI is available throughout the house and on a substantial portion of our 2 acre property. Very satisfied with this purchase especially for the price point, and I would recommend it to anyone looking to upgrade on a budget.

I was hesitant to spend $300 on a wireless router but I am glad I did! This thing has speed, long range and very reliable. We are running 9 wireless devices and it has fast speed on all of them. Buy this router as you won't regret it. Also this is the first time I ever wrote a review on a product.

I've purchased 4 routers over the past three years. Interior walls are made of concrete, so before this, would hardly get wifi a room away.
With the Netgear, I have connection two houses away. Extremely easy (walk thru) setup.
Keeps my speeds fast for my PS4 and movie streaming as well

With a growing number of devices being connected in our home it seemed like our old router was unable to handle the demand. After some online research I settled on this model and I am THRILLED with my choice. Easy set up and configuration... super range... have not had to reboot it once yet.... no dropped signals... and finally getting the speed we pay for... LOVE IT!!!

I was switching to streaming TV, and the staff at my local store recommended this router. I get a good signal throughout my 2000 sq ft home, even at the farthest point from the router's location. I've had no problems with streaming. The cable guy (Charter/Spectrum) told me it was the one he used. Easy to set up and get working, too.

I had a combo unit C3700 Netgear and I was abusing it by all of the heavy pinging I was doing to the unit (streaming, gaming and school work) so since I got a new job I said why not. I found the cheapiest price that was comparable to Amazon and Newegg. I also purchased the SB6183 cable modem (with both of these together no internet connectivity issues at all.
In terms of online ordering, I purchased it via my mobile app at 8am yesterday morning and by the time lunch rolled around it was ready and in stock. No issues and the store was fast.
