Customers praise the Nighthawk X10 AD7200 Tri-Band Wi-Fi Router for its impressive range, strong performance, and ease of setup, resulting in excellent coverage and signal strength, great for streaming and other demanding applications. However, some customers note that the router is expensive and large, and a few have experienced issues with the firmware. Despite these drawbacks, many users find the improved speed and reliability worthwhile.

Ok, I am not a tech expert and can't give a detailed list of specs. But, here is what I do know. I own a Lynksys 1900AC router, best I could by 2 years ago and ran streaming netflix on my 65 inch TV, apple TV streaming and a wi fi computer. It all worked excellent but sometimes I had slow streaming.
Then I bought another TV, SONY 75 Ultra HD, added another Apple TV module, another computer, Apple and Windows and streaming was slow. Then I purchased the Netgear Nighthawk 7200. SUPER FAST streaming with no wait time, I can run all items together and still super fast. I can sum it up in one phrase. The fastest experience on the market with top notch speed and super easy set up.
I went from riding in a V-6 Truck to a V-12 Lamborghini or Ferrari
No comparison. If you want the best and fastest, the Netgear 7200 is it.
It is a higher item but worth the extra $$. You get what you pay for and this will not be outdated anytime soon.

This Netgear router handles all of my needs with very fast speed. It has met all of my expectations and then some.
I reviewed this router on line before the purchase and it seemed to have very good reviews.
This is the first Netgear router I have owned. All of my previous routers were Linksys brand. They all seemed to work okay but this Netgear router seems to be the greatest of any I have owned.

I have cox gigablast service and was provided a router when it was installed. I used a NETGEAR extender to get coverage to parts of my house and property. The extener worked but it was slow and I had to keep swithching between 4 networks. I also had trouble with my Sonos system with the extender installed. With the X-10 one network all over the place and fast. Very Groovy!

I have purchased this router to replace my older NightHawk X4, as had failed and stopped working. It is paired with a Netgear CM1000 modem. Together these two are a great pair for any home or office. It is fast, accurate and easy to set up. This purchase was for my home. I have purchased it for the speed and the internal PLEX functionality, as I have a PLEX Media Server where I keep movies, tv-shows, music, and pictures. This router makes it even more easy to set up the PLEX and run it. It allows me to access all my media worldwide, with ease. I am extremely happy with this system and I will keep using Netgear systems.

The speeds are 10x faster than my original router. It supports multiple bands and has a great range. I would definitely buy it again. I can run 10 streams and do multiple things from multiple devices and still not drop packets.

I originally bought the Nighthawk X8 and had it about a week and it started dropping connections and losing signal. Called Netgear two separate times to correct the issue, which only ended up being a temporary fix that lasted only hours both times. I then read up on the X10 and decided to spend the extra $100 and upgrade when I returned the X8. This router has been amazing. I get full signal across the other side of the house with those download speeds being still over 100 Gbps and upload speed of over 20 Gbps. This router instantly connects to all of my devices any time I get within range and never drops signal. This router is definitely worth the money.

There is no question this router gives me all of the coverage in my 3100 sqft 2 story house. The signal is consistent and strong. We have over 25 devices connected via wired and wireless and none has skipped a beat. My wife has a chromebook, and you know who gets a call if the internet goes down... Since switching to this router no calls :)
Now there is no denying that the price of this thing is EXPENSIVE. I am not sure when routers became so expensive, but to get the latest tech, sometimes you have to pay.
Web interface to manage the device is very clean and fast, especially comparing it with my older linksys and Spectrum cable modem wifi.
Oh, and another this, this thing is massive in size, so keep that in mind if you have a small space for you router.

I went from a rented cable gateway to a Netgear CM1000 modem and this Nighthawk X10 and the difference is night and day. It has been in service for several weeks now and I have not had a single issue with speed or connectivity. I would recommend this to anyone wanting to future proof and yes, I would buy these items again.

Goodness, this thing is a monster. It doesn't come cheap, but it's so powerful and fast. I never complain about my Internet or WiFi signal anymore. I work on my computer all the time, I upload and download monster 4K video files, so I put this thing to use. My WiFi is better at home than at work. I love it.

I've been using Netgear products for many years, and in general I find them pretty sturdy and reliable. This particular router is pretty much in line with my expectations with several pretty significant flaws that I hope will be corrected over time with Firmware updates.
If you are pretty technically inclined or you are an I.T. Specialist or Security Professional I think you'll be pretty happy with the features and configuration options of this device. However, there are some things about it that really frustrated me. I'll just list the pros and cons as I have experienced them.
CONS:
1). QoS - Doesn't seem to work properly over time. I noticed that my throughput absolutely cratered over about 12 hours. With QoS turned on my throughput went from 300Mbps to 20Mbps. My suspicion is this feature as presently implemented eats up buffers over time. When this is turned off, my throughput remains a little more consistent. I am also suspicious this feature caused the router to reboot at least once and I have it disabled at the moment and haven't done additional troubleshooting.
2). 60GHz band - I have also disabled this feature since nothing presently supports it and I suspect leaving it on creates additional demand on the processors and eats RAM unnecessarily and could also be contributing to the rebooting and possibly overheating issue, but I haven't tracked the temperature over time.
PROS:
Too many to list. This router has almost every geeky feature you could want. I haven't used ALL of them so I can't vouch for things like the media server capabilities, cloud storage capabilities, or cloud backup (to Amazon). I will eventually try these features out, but right now I don't have a lot of use for them.
This device has some good logging information for troubleshooting, monitoring Firewall hits, etc, and even has an alerting feature for sending various logs to a specific Email address for Firewall events, blocked site attempts, etc. Very cool. I also like the very powerful port forwarding capabilities that are highly customizable. You can open a specific inbound port, and forward that to an entirely different port on an internal device. I haven't tested the VPN capabilities, but that's also a gigantic plus, however I don't think you can do certificate based VPN, which would be really great.
Another fantastic feature is port mirroring the WAN (Internet) port to LAN1 port. For the really geeky/security nerds this allows you to set up a packet sniffer and watch the traffic flows in and out of your local network. This feature is HUGE.
There is apparently a web-based debugging screen built into this router as well for the UBER mega-nerd and I suspect useful for tech support. There are some great options on this page for troubleshooting and other cool stuff like built-in packet capture. There is a telnet feature, but I haven't been able to get the device to response to telnet, so I'm not sure if it's really implemented.
I struggled with whether to keep this router or not for 2 weeks due to the apparent QoS problems, but with my home bandwidth (300Mbps) and the fact that I work from home using a Cisco VoIP phone with QoS disabled I've had no problems at all. I fell in love with the router so I did purchase the extended service plan as a protection against any future unsolvable issues or failures.
I hope Netgear continues to refine and tweak the firmware on this device because they've done a pretty good job so far. I'd REALLY like to have command-line access to the device but I can understand why the manufacturer would lock people out of that feature.
I'm going to recommend this router conditionally... you should really have a fairly high level of technical skill if you want to get the most out of it and be willing to deal with some issues.

I recently purchased the X10 and all I can say is that it is an amazing product. I upgraded from a fairly new router, the R6000 series, but the performance boost was still significant. I do not have the new AD wireless card to test it at GHz wireless speeds, but even with AC all my connected devices improved in speed.
The router is on the large side, so plan for that. it also has tons of LED lights on it, but there is a switch so you can turn them off for your convenience.
The interface is the standard Netgear with some extra features. I am very advanced user with over 20 years of experience and i would recommend this router to anyone who can afford its price.

I bought the X10 to future-proof myself. I, like most others, don't have any 802.11ad devices, but thought of buying this as an investment. I also have a larger house, and wanted to get the most powerful router I could to help with range. I looked at mesh style routers, but they sacrifice speed for range, and I didn't want to do that.
The X10 performs just as good as Netgear claims, but I don't think the price is justified. I have seen other 802.11ad tri-band routers that are more than $150 less, and the only difference is the SFP+ port.
This router won't disappoint, but it may not be the wisest financial decision you make.

Had for a week so far and have noticed a significant difference. I have a gaming son, 2 daughters constantly streaming/gaming on iPads and all of 4 tvs in the home rely solely on streamed content. I bought it for the easy Plex setup. Everything about the setup was easy though.

This is by far the best router I have ever owned. It has every feature one could need/want and the speed differential between your cable modem and the routers WiFi service is nearly identical to plugging directly into the router via an Ethernet port. The FREE Netgear software is user-friendly and allows you to customize almost every aspect of the Nighthawk router. Bottom line: Do yourself a favor and purchase this router that will not only serve your current networking needs, but includes forward-looking technology insuring your investment will keep you on the cutting edge of router/WiFi tech for years to come.

I'm not very technical about networking but if I encounter a problem I can solve it with self education/research. I've owned a few wireless routers dating back to PRE-N technology. They have all worked with a few glitches. Generally, they wouldn't remain stable with a passcode. Always had to reset or reconnect. This is the first router that hasn't 'timedout' the connection on a regular basis. That may have been an easily resolved problem but I never looked into it.
This router has yet given me any problems and I haven't had to reset it once as with my older routers.
Very fast. Very stable. Rather expensive. Generally worth it.
