Customers praise the Nighthawk X10 AD7200 Tri-Band Wi-Fi Router for its impressive range, strong performance, and ease of setup, resulting in excellent coverage and signal strength, great for streaming and other demanding applications. However, some customers note that the router is expensive and large, and a few have experienced issues with the firmware. Despite these drawbacks, many users find the improved speed and reliability worthwhile.

We have 6 people living in our home. All of which has multiple wireless devices. We have at least two people on the xbox one at any given time playing games or streaming movies from Vudu or Netflix. We have two other people that are on their desktop computers playing games. We each have an Iphone and/or tablet. As you can see we have several devices, and our old Nighthawk we bought 3 years ago was just not cutting it anymore. We went to Netgear's website and compared all their Wireless routers and this one met our needs. We ordered it online, which was an excellent experience, because we were able to price match from Amazon plus use our reward certificates, saving us $60 off this router. It was easy to setup, and we have had it up and running now for at least two weeks, maybe three, and so far no lag issues, and everybody seems to be loving it. We setup the different bands and using the Genie app (which I highly recommend) we were able to put everybody on the band that was needed for what they were doing. It was very easy. Also, I LOVE that I can shut off my teenager's internet at night so he isn't sneaking up in the middle of the night to play on his PC. He doesn't like it however haha! But he's loving the new router. I would recommend this to anybody that has multiple devices. We have ours on the second floor and get internet anywhere in the house. It does start dropping off in the kitchen, which is the furthest from the router, but it still does not lag much.

I’ve been using this for around a year now and I have noticed greater speeds. More so the ability to watch many video streaming sources at one time. Having this thing as a plex server is great. I don’t have a giant collection at this time. But it works with any connected storage so I can keep adding.

I want to really like this router but I will be replacing it when the new ASUS ROG routers come out this fall.
It has nice hardware features but the Firmware leaves a lot to be desired. Here are the issues I have with the firmware:
1). Netgear has acknowledged this bug but cannot seem to fix it after more than a year. Primarily, if you enable Access Control (who would not due to security), then you cannot see the connected devices if you log into the router from a web browser.
2). QOS Settings - these are automated and you cannot change them. I have read you can set QOS specifically per device but that is not an option since you cannot see the devices due to the above reason.
3). Priority traffic (part of QOS) - WiFi takes precedence over wired connections. So, if you have home office with wired connections and VPN to your company, your business takes a back seat to anyone streaming wireless over your connection.
I have updated the Firmware, rebooted, tried the App for Apple, App for Windows, 4 different browsers, and still have not been able to see any connect devices on a browser and the apps do not allow for changing (giving priority) the QOS between different computers.
I gave it an extra star for those users who only need WiFi in a home environment (no VPN software such as Hamachi for gaming). In such an environment, this router rocks! Just remember, do NOT enable Access Control!
Given the status of the Firmware, this product is not worth the price in my opinion. I previously owned a Netgear Nighthawk R7000 for multiple years and never had an issue.

So far so good... looks great and it's pretty fast... I haven't see the full potential yet, until I get a newer updated modem. But I'm happy as for now. Easy set up.

This thing is amazing. Connection is stronger, more secure, and there is definitely an increase in speed. With this router, you are given 3 networks in one. The possibilities are endless, and that is a nice problem to have. We are using the 2.4 ghz connection as our guest network, keeping the higher frequencies for ourselves. A must have if you have multiple streaming devices and gaming boxes in your house.

It’s fast. I have had several netgear routers and I wanted to get a router Is ahead of the curve so it doesn’t have to be replaced next year. This fits the bill.

This router was a replacement for an R7000 that was slowing down after 20 clients or more were connected to it. I upgraded to the R9000 and am no longer seeing dropouts. The signal strength is more stable than the R7000 too.
The port aggregation is nice for 2gbps speed, with a smart managed switch. Gives me 2gbps speed to a separate smart managed switch for nice throughput to heavy bandwidth devices connected.
This router does block out some ports normally used for IP cameras or monitoring, unlike other routers. There is an option to open up those ports in the router as well.

I like this device so far. Downloads and uploads are really quite fast. Of course if your service provider speed is slow, it won't make any difference if you want it for streaming. I have 100/100 upload/download so streaming works great. I have whole home coverage, where I previously had two WiFi routers and still had spotting coverage. This is no longer an issue. Great signal strength.

I have over 20 wireless devices and was looking for a good router to handle the speed I needed to operate them all. I also have two security camera's on this and it has not lost signal or noticed and speed lose yet. As for the range I have the router in my basement and I can sit at my fire pit roughly 200 feet away from my house and still have signal. a bit expensive but worth the money.

The standard netgear interface is terrible lacks security and the VPN uses the same certificates over and over with no way to disallow access through certificate revocation. Do not use the stock firmware... this router however does have a beta DD-WRT flash which once installed opens your option tenfold. Stock i would not recommend this router if you plan to use the VPN. However with the DD-WRT flash this router quickly becomes a very secure VPN endpoint should you use it and also allows for great integration into existing network where you may have any enterprise routing equipment. It does support OSPF and RIP (only with DD-WRT) unfortunately not EIGRP but i can deal with that. It also supports RADIUS authentication so if you have the know how you can set up different user account to log into the WiFi instead of just one shared password.
On the physical side of things the router looks nice has plenty of ports on it and supports link aggregation on Eth 1 and 2. This great as it allows for greater transfer speeds if you have the equipment to support it or a large house with a secondary router with link aggregation.
Over all i would recommend for the average use and with a DD-WRT flash would highly recommend to a more security conscious user.

Strong signal. I did a signal check in a average house with plaster walls using a WIFI signal App that I use on installations . Before using the R 9000 the old router the signal at 100 ft on 2.4g was 55% and 5g was 30%. after the install the R 9000 at 100 ft on 2.4g was 85% and the 5g was 65% and the streaming was really fast. The customers are really spoiled now and thankful..

This router can be summed up in one word, "WOW"!! It delivers and then some! I have owned many routers in the past each with pros and cons; however, this router surpasses all the others in speed, easy setup and delivery. You get what you pay for and this one is testament to that statement! Believe me, you will not be disappointed! A premium router is a must! Try it!

This wifi router replaced another wifi router with weaker and less antennas which had difficulty reaching all areas of the house.
This router provides the stronger and steady signal that I was hoping for.
The wifi router's administrator screen has many options but I wish it had some options like charts that break down which apps are using how much bandwidth, and so forth. There is a Traffic meter in the menus but not a comprehensive breakdown of bandwidth usage.
In the end it is a powerful router that is working satisfactorily.

This is an excellent wifi router. Covers the house, the garage, and the yard and is as fast as any of the devices I am using. It does provide a 60 GHZ channel, but I have yet to find a device that can accept that speed of transmission. You might want to go with a cheaper model. Very easy to set up as long as you have a smart phone or pad.
