Solid system
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This worked well for my large house. I had a Netgear Orbi previously but it only had 1 satellite and there were still areas of the house that were spotty. This newer model with two satellites have helped resolve this issue. I have been able to work anywhere in my house without issue since connecting this system. We have many devices connected there are usually multiple Roku devices running along with people watching videos on their phone all at the same time and this system has no issues keeping up with it. It was easy to set up, although it did take me attempting it twice before everything connected as it was supposed to, but this is pretty good for me when it comes to electronics. The app is pretty straight forward and you can use it to test the speed or reboot the system if there is an issue. I have no complaints. They are fairly large, even larger than the previous model that I had, but for solid internet in all corners of my house it is worth it to me to have a bulkier device. My thought is if you need this you have space for the extra bulk.

future proof flagship for a price
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.the good: Though we can certainly gush over the stated numbers, true speed for the 970 is difficult to quantify yet, with wifi 7 yet to be made available. Otherwise, the tech details do suggest some outstanding specs, potentially the most useful being the reported 10Gbps dedicated backhaul “quad-band” technology. In my testing so far, they do not disappoint. With both satellites set up wirelessly, I’ve seen no difference in connection speeds, regardless of which node I’ve been connected to. Other notable specs - 27Gbps max wifi speed (eventually, with wifi 7 connected devices), 10,000 square feet of coverage (not sure if I can quantify this, but I’ve roamed with my devices around the house, front yard, back yard, and into the street without losing signal or dropping connection), 200 current connected devices, 8k streaming, 10Gbps internet/LAN connections, and something called “smart connect”, which supposedly connects each device to its fastest available wifi band. In my experience so far it’s been spot on. Design is also quite nice for these, certainly compared to other mesh systems. They are relatively large, but they’ve got a really small footprint and their simplistic cylinder shape looks sleek and unobtrusive. Going through setup was quite similar, in fact I would say essentially the same as previous Orbi setups. That is to say that it is relatively painless if you follow the instructions in the mobile app. I was up and running in a relatively short period of time, and since I used the same SSID/password as my previous network, all of my devices reconnected without issue. the bad: The only real complain I have for this system is really the price point. At $2299.99 it’s certainly not for everyone. Not everyone will even remotely need it, and most won’t be able to take advantage of more than half of its capabilities or capacity. That being said, if you are looking at this router seriously, you already know whether it’s in your budget, so price is likely not an object. It is simply best in class in every other way. overall: Overall of course this mesh router system is flagship…class leading…future proof…with a price tag to match. If price is no object, or you simply must have the latest and greatest, the 970 won’t disappoint. For the rest of the mortals out there, better, more cost efficient options might exist. That being said, it’d be hard to rate these anything under 5 stars.

Powerful made for very large homes and backyards.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.NETGEAR Orbi 970 Series BE27000 RBE973S is very powerful and made for a larger homes than I have. I didn't used the router and the satellites was sufficient enough to finally cover my home. 20 devices strong with both of my great friends Wifi devices while protecting them as well. I don't have any devices to test Wifi @ 6GHz yet but current devices all connect just fine with 5GHz.This is no less powerful enough to handle every single device you can throw at it 4K/8k Streaming, AR/VR, Zoom calls, Online gaming from 6 PCs (I've tried), Soundbars, Wifi Projectors, Printers, all at once. Router: 10 Gig Internet WAN PORT / 10 Gbps Ethernet / 4x 2.5 Gbps Ethernet Both satellites: 10 Gbps / 2x 2.5 Gbps. The Orbi app for iOS works just fine, setup didn't take that long for the satellites. Keeping it simplistic; Its a very premium router made for very large homes and a large backyard. It superior class with Wifi 7 but this is much too powerful for my home with 2x Satellites. But deserve 5 stars for working smoothly.

5 Stars and Beyond
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Netgear Orbi 970 Series is a powerful Wi-Fi 7 mesh system with quad-band connectivity, multi-gigabit ports, and excellent range. It delivers fast, stable speeds with advanced wireless backhaul. The Orbi app simplifies management, but premium features require subscriptions, but worth it. Though expensive upfront, it’s ideal for users needing top-tier performance and extensive coverage for demanding network environments, that I switched from the Eero Max 7 to the Orbi 970.

Fast and Reliable Network
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My wife and I both work from home so network performance is very important. Our offices are on opposite sides of the house so I placed the main router in my office where the internet comes into the house. The first satellite was placed in my wife's office. With my previous mesh network there were sections of the house that didn't get very good signal. WiFi outside wasn't an option which was unfortunate when streaming music to our outdoor speakers. With the Orbi 970 I had good, usable signal outside with the access satellites placed in the exact same spots. I placed the third satellite in the garage so now I'll be able to install security cameras back there where it wasn't an option before. Setup was a breeze as the Netgear Orbi app walks you through the process each step of the way. I didn't have any issues getting everything hooked up and configured. The app has a lot of details and stats available to check speed, connected devices, etc. Aside from the improvements in coverage, the most noticeable improvement I found was when I would play a recording from my Channels DVR server there was always a slight delay before it would play. It wasn't ever that bad, but just more of an annoyance to me - my wife never noticed it. With the Orbi, it plays immediately, which is a testament as to how good the backhaul connection is. Overall, I'm extremely pleased with the Orbi 970. As one who is very reliant on the internet for work and entertainment, having a fast and reliable is extremely important.

Easy set up and solid speed future proofs you
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Make no mistake when you pick this up, you’re getting a high end mesh network with the features and premium support to match. Netgear is one of the first to release a WiFi 7 router. With the right end points, WiFi 7 is faster and more reliable than everything that’s come before fit. One key to making this work is to have separate networks for legacy devices than for newer devices. The Orbi has 3 separate networks you can configure on the same set of routers: One for low speed devices such as smart light switches, door locks, and voice controllers, one for guests to use for WiFi access to the internet. A last one for your personal phones, laptops, and gaming systems which need the highest performance possible. In my set up, the Internet of Things network maxed out at 40 Mbps, despite having a 300 Mbps connection from Verizon. This is not at all surprising as I have many devices which only support WiFi 3 or WiFi 4 standards. These devices were clogging my old router, which was one reason I wanted to upgrade. They now allow my personal device network to fly with a 3 Gbps link speed, even on the other side of my house, 2 floors and 60 feet away. Latency on my laptops has dropped as well, even though they’re only WiFi 6e capable. My cell phone is the only device fully capable of WiFi 7. Unfortunately, the phone has some bugs which prevent it from working properly with WiFi 7. This was a good reminder that it’s still a pending standard. It’s expected to be finalized in 2024 at which point any changes will be pushed out through updated firmware. I was very impressed with Netgear’s support with a couple of issues that weren’t even theirs. They recommend you set your network name and password to be the same as your previous router so that devices will reconnect easily. This worked great, except that I accidentally left my old router connected. They helped me figure out the issue and solved it. The only disappointment I have is the app does not have full control over the devices. To set up functions like access point mode, radio band changes, and custom DNS set up. The app does have a nice WiFi meter, however, which helps with satellite placement to ensue you’re getting optimal coverage where you need it. Overall, I’m very impressed with the Orbi set up and capabilities. It’s also a big investment. If you can afford it, the Orbi is rock solid and future proof for the next 3 or 4 years. It’s really designed for those who need to get the most out of their networked devices, for gaming, video, or other network intensive tasks. Most of the functionality can otherwise be had with 2 cheaper routers and a few hours research on network topology.

Extremely stable, fast speeds.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When it comes to the 6ghz frequency forget about all you know. I have learned a lot with this system. This is the first system I have owned that my 6E device finds and uses the 6ghz when on one SSD. As of now you can only have one SSD and that is what I like anyway, and the Orbi 970 handles and switches you between the bands very well. I have a 1,150 square foot house and if you use just 2.5ghz or 5ghz then a router and 1 satellite would be fine. BUT when you use the 6ghz for 6e and 7 devices (I don’t have any 7 devices yet and 7 is still developing, according to everything I have read as of now), you have to be close to either a satellite or router (access point) to get great 6ghz you need to be 10-15 feet away then the signal tanks really quick. So do I need a 3 piece kit (router and 2 satellite) in a 1,150 square foot house , absolutely! So where does the up to 10,000 square feet come from, it comes from total WiFi coverage of the farthest band, and that is the 2.5ghz band. The wireless back haul as of now being the first firmware, is at a max of 800-900Mbps, I have tried every setting and placement in my house and this was the best I got with my ISP (I get 1,200Mbps from my ISP) so i purchased 4 Moca 2,500Mbps devices and used the cable lines in the house to use wire back haul, and now I am getting 1,000 - 1,200 Mbps. WiFi coverage (on 5 and 2.5ghz) is very good, but I think it will get better as it is new and firmware is just now the beginning….. Right now on this first firmware, the system is rock stable. You get 2 10gig ports (1 being WAN) and 4 2.5gig ports, on the satellites you get 1 10gig port and 2 2.5gig ports, and this is absolutely necessary today and a great to have. As long as Netgear keeps making better firmware and keeps the 970 stable and faster speeds, this system will last years.

Fastest Ever
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought these because I noticed that what I had already was not enough with how many devices we had. We always have multiple tvs and devices on, and it always frustrated us when it freezes and starts to lag. Although it was pretty expensive, this was the best investment so have ever made. The setup was super easy, and the speeds we were getting astounded us. I have had it for a couple of days now, and there hasn’t been a single problem at all, and I also love seeing my download speed hit the 4-digit numbers when gaming. Trust me, this is great.

Impressive
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have always owned beefy routers, made for gaming and things like that, over the years but this system is the first mesh setup I have owned. To start, the main router and both satellites are quite large. They stick out much more than any router I have ever owned prior. They have some weight behind the, which signifies good build quality to me. The color scheme, white and silver, is pretty simple but looks sleek and blends well. The inputs and outputs on all three pieces are placed well and are easily accessible. Setup, at first, was a bit of an issue, but was eventually able to get it going properly. Once setup, everything performed smoothly. The speeds this setup is capable of sending over wi-fi is pretty awesome to me. I notice a huge difference with all the devices I use over wi-fi. The hardwired connections, that I use for my home theater components and game systems, works flawlessly. I love how I have no loss of signal and everything runs strong due to the abilities of the two satellites that work with the main router. The app used to setup and control everything is so simple and very easy to use. The security features seem like a cool feature but I haven't really noticed anything compared to previous routers I have used. Overall, I am thrilled with this system and love that it covers my whole home without any dead spots. Great job Netgear.

Future-proofing for Wireless Home Networking
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've been using a previous Gen Orbi for the last year or so. Main selling point of this one is the 10Gb Ethernet and the multiple 2.5Gb Ethernet ports. The profile of the satellites are much improved over the previous gen. These are taller and more triangular versus the kind of oval shape. Makes it much easier to to place them in various areas. I've not been able to take advantage of the 10Gb ethernet however as I don't have any devices currently capable of utilizing the kind of hardwired connection. My desktop computer is capable of 2.5Gb ethernet, but I lack anything else that can feed that much speed right now. I'm still waiting on Fiber to be rolled ot in my town. Of what I've experienced with my previous system and moving to this new gen, the setup is exactly the same and just as easy. There was a slight complication with setting it up however. My old network had a , and a space in it. I had taken the other system down, went to setup the new one and it wouldn't allow me to name it the same, necessitating having to reconnect everything in my house, which was quite the hassle. I don't quite understand why the mobile app was enforcing this, however, once it was setup, I could rename it to anything via the Web Portal, which oddly enough was more difficult to get to this time as it kept wanting me to use the Mobile App. One thing I did experience with my previous model was one of the satellites would randomly drop it's sync to the main hub. Sometimes it would automatically sync back up, or I'd have to fight with it for an hour to get it to sync back up. So far I've not experienced this with the new system. This should tide me over for years to come given the bandwidth and Wi-Fi 7 capabilities. If you want to go down the road of using a mesh network and you have the purse strings for it, Netgear really does make some of the best networking hardware.

Next-Gen Home Networking Unleashed
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The NETGEAR Orbi 970 Series has set a new benchmark for what consumers can expect from home networking. As an early adopter of the Orbi 970 mesh system, I've had a transformative experience with my home internet setup. Here’s a deep dive into my experience with this futuristic mesh system: Setup: The setup process is user-friendly, guided by the Orbi app, which provides clear instructions and visuals to help place the nodes optimally around my home. In under 30 minutes, I had a robust mesh network up and running. Design: NETGEAR maintains its sleek design language with the Orbi 970, with each node sporting a minimalist and modern aesthetic that blends seamlessly into home decor. The white finish is clean, and the build quality feels premium. Performance: Wi-Fi 7's promise of faster speeds, lower latency, and increased capacity is not just on paper. The Orbi 970 delivers a consistently strong signal throughout my home, even in previously dead spots. The quad-band technology, with a dedicated backhaul channel, ensures that my devices maintain top speeds, whether I'm streaming 8K content or participating in video conferences. Capacity: The capacity to handle a multitude of devices simultaneously is impressive. With a smart home full of connected gadgets, the Orbi 970 manages to provide stable connections without the dreaded

DEGRADES over time. AVOID!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I will NEVER buy another Orbi again. For the average person, you will not notice the problems, But people who are usually buying this system is if you have a big house and have alot of devices. I have 175 devices connected , ~60 to each satellite. I have 3 gamers in the house we all can't stand this thing. I had to learn about backhaul, about passthrough, DHCP release / renew, etc etc all these technical terms just to get this thing to work well/fast enough to game. Basically if you have a small house, a few devices, you won't notice anything, you're better off buying something else and save the money. There's more WIFI 7 mesh routers now and alot cheaper. If you're buying this thing, just know that if you start to see your devices degrade, you have to know how to get into the router's settings, get into your ISP modem's settings, how to change your modem to bridge mode, turning on pass through, then going back to your ORBI , double checking the settings on your router so you don't get dropped signals. You'll also find lots of people having a problem with the backhaul and dropping signals on the satellites. This thing is terrible, it's the last time I'm buying any Orbi gear. It should be simple, plug it in, wide coverage, low latency, no drop signals. I had an Orbi system 10+ years ago and stopped buying Orbi gear. Then this thing came out as one of the first Wifi 7 so I had no choice, now after a year I've had so much headache dealing with the settings and now it's completely degrading, the satellites keep dropping signal. AVOID AT ALL COST, there are MUCH better alternatives now.

Not a true 10G system BEWARE!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The router unit is perfection, the satellites are the Achilles heel. Let me explain… The router has 2 x 10gbe ports, a WAN and a LAN. That is perfect. That lets you have a 10gb signal input and output. Having an output to a 10 GB switch is vital, so good job Netgear for putting two on the router. That’s where the praise ends. You can’t get 10gb to the satellite units if you’re connecting them wirelessly but if you do backhaul the satellites, only have 1x10gbe port! You can’t wire anything to the satellite and get a 10 gig connection unless you add another extremely expensive third-party switch on. This is a huge oversight to not have 2x10gbe ports. It’s sort of ruins, the entire 10 gigabit experience. Yes, I do have 10 gig fiber. Also Why does the router not have an SFP port? I truly believe the TP link BE95 are the best so far for wi-fi 7 and a true 10 gigabit system. The BE95 has direct fiber (SFP) port on it too. This Netgear system is very disappointing for the price. It’s lacking in features compared to the competition and is much much more expensive.

The Best Orbi 970!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Have been using the Orbi 970 3-pack for about a month. After using the worst Asus BQ16 Pro 3-pack mesh system got fed up and returned it. Most of the Asus wifi 7 routers have issues connecting to the 2.4 devices. Their tech support is a joke. The BQ16 Pro knocked off all the 2.4 ghz devices randomly. Then came the Orbi 970. It has been a month with no reboots and all the 2.4 Ghz IoT devices are stable with no disconnects. The Orbi app is very basic. It can be improved by adding many features. Currently there’s no other router that can beat the Flagship router 970 as I see it. It’s pricey but you pay premium for any high end item.
