The color reproduction, audio, picture detail and gorgeous steelbook artwork make for a stunning 4K release of The Bridge on the River Kwai. Though dated in some respects and timeless in others, the movie looks and sounds like it could have been filmed more recently. The steelbook artwork is exquisite, capturing the essence of the film in its design and making for a great keepsake.

This is one of the best films ever made. I’m so glad to see it upgraded and preserved. Love the picture and the features. Sounds great.

A MUST see and a MUST have for any movie buff that enjoys WW2 history in cinema. Was actually recommended by Jeremy Clarkson and I gotta say he was in point on this.

Nice metal box. Bluray is great. 4k is high quality though it shows all the flaws of the original film stock so I switched to watching it on Bluray.

Wow, what a beautifully done steelbook! Thank you Sony for doing this on the Anniversary of the movie. We get everything here in this edition, 4K, Blu-ray copy, digital copy. The 2 discs have artwork on them, which is nice also. The movie looks and sounds better than ever on the 4K TV and Sony player, in my opinion. I have at least 200 4Ks in my library and this is one of the best WWII movies. Sir Alec Guiness gives a great performance here. *The only gripe I would say on the steelbook is that the inside itself does not have artwork, It is a subdued pinkish color. The discs are housed on the right side and you have the room for the digital copy on the left side. Pick this one up folks if you are a WWII movie fan! HIghly recommend!

I bought this steelbook even though I owned the original 4K release. I did this because Sony is re-releasing many of their movies in steelbooks with upgraded encoding and Dolbyvision. Sometimes this doesn't make a huge difference (see Groundhog Day), but in the case of movies like this one and Starship Troopers, the upgrade was significant. The use of Dolbyvision really tames the brightness levels which makes the grain so much more natural. Really glad I upgraded such an iconic movie.

Bridge on the River Kwai is a masterpiece in every way. Alec Guinness is incredible, and the characters are all so well-rounded that you understand everyone’s motives and reasoning. The ending is one of the best in movie history. Now remastered for 4K, it looks gorgeous while retaining the grainy look. The Steelbook is a must-have for fans and collectors! What more can I even say?

I saw this movie in a local movie theater when I was young, I enjoyed it then and I very much enjoyed watching it again with this new release. I believe it won a good many awards. The movie had great actors, directing and story line. I would recommend this movie to anyone who enjoys military type movies, especially older ones.

The Bridge On The River Kwai 4K Steelbook is even better quality and richer than the previous anniversary and Criterion editions on dvd and regular Blu ray. This has always been a favorite film to watch with Sir Alex Guinness (well before his days as the original Obi Wan Kenobi). All star cast, acting, screenplay. Enjoy!

I love a good war time movie. This one is a classic that I had to have for my collection. The steelbook is awesome. I love the art work. It's beautiful and well designed. I thought they did a really good job with 4K. The picture looks beautiful.

This movie looked great for an old film. Good color and image was clear. It sounded good considering the age of the film and all. Could easily make out what everyone was saying. Nice update from blu-ray and DVD. They don't make movies like this anymore...pity.

I bought this as a blind, having never seen only part the movie before. The movie itself is an epic. They did a great job on the remaster. The sound and picture are very good. I would give it 4 1/2 stars.

Perfect 4K transfer. One of my favorite movies presented better than I have ever seen it. Great detail and depth. Hit the Steelbook lottery and got a pristine case with no damage or blemishes.

So I saw this when I was deployed downrange and what a great movie. Totally needed to add this to my military collection given this shows how things during wartime can affect soldiers and leaders.

The Bridge on the River Kwai is an all time classic that I just had to have in my movie collection. It has a great cast of great actors. a good movie to watch.

This very potent film about the insanity of war looks absolutely amazing on 4K, with a rich Dolby Atmos soundtrack. The steelbook looks pretty spiffy, too.

A flashy steelbook houses an excellent 4K home release of a wonderful David Lean adventure that still holds up almost half a century on. Highly recommended.

I absolutely love the film and this unique art style as well. It's the same style as Lawrence of Arabia. I hope to see more classics given this treatment!

A classic for a lot of reasons. And a best picture winner! Alec Guiness rocks it. Plenty for everyone here...action, drama, some humor.
