Does the new skating system take a little fun out of the game? Maybe for casual players but most hockey fans are hardcore and want a realistic gaming experience. The checking system in nhl12 was good,NHL 13 has to fix the games biggest flaw,checking is soooo bad. My biggest complaint is the ps3 online games. Very,very bad all around so far,ill stick with it but going to ps3 from Xbox last year,its very dissapointing

NHL 13 is by far the best of the EA Sports NHL franchise. This season started the "Be a GM" mode of game play which is great for any true hockey fan! You get to be a GM for your own team which means signing players, drafting players, and making trades. The GM mode covers everything including coaching responsibilities such as line combinations, roster moves, and strategies. You not only manage and play your NHL team, but your AHL affiliate as well (ie Detroit and Grand Rapids). Game play itself is much better with "True Performance Skating". Now each player functions more true to their statistics. My only complaint is that PS3 STILL has only a 720p maximum video output instead of true 1080p. Not a real deal-breaker because the 720p is enough for a sports game, but I would really like to see PS3 go to 1080p for this game franchise. I would HIGHLY recommend this game for anyone who really enjoys hockey!

Love hockey so love the game! Online is fun but love just playing season play.

Usually not a big hockey fan, but gave it a shot and glad I did

My only gripe is that this purchase does not include an EA Sports Online Pass which is what you need to play an online team play game and to get certain updates. It's really EA Sports' fault, not Best Buy's, but in all honesty, if you're going to be paying an extra 10$ for the online pass, plus the cost of shipping, you might as well have walked over to a Best Buy and bought it brand new. Lesson learned. That being said, the game is as awesome as ever. Skating is more realistic, the net now comes off its moorings, etc... If you are a fan of hockey, or sports games in general, it is a must.
