    The setup of this Night Owl unit took around 2 hours for 4 cameras in a 3 story home (results vary). The smartphone and box setup was easy and the picture quality is as advertised (clear HD). I did notice higher volumes of false motion alarms though but the camera functions as stated and honestly makes me feel somewhat safer about my property in the wakes of higher crime rates in my neighborhood.

    I am pleased with the cameras, they record very clear pictures and the night vision recordings are impressive. The cameras with the recording station has significant memory that it will store a full year, 365, 24/7 before it will rerecord over itself. I would have preferred that the cameras would swivel to allow it to be angled just where you want it to be, but that's not a deal breaker. The free app available for download on your phone so you can be notified of movements in view of the cameras is the biggest downfall of this system. It could even have to do with the recording station main box. I am constantly losing connection on various cameras so I cannot always see what is going on. I haven't checked to see if it's recorded at the system and if the problem is just the app. There is a delay. Originally it started at 5 seconds, but now when I awake in the morning, 2 of my cameras still appear in the dark from the night before, while the other 2 are actually live. So I can't really say what the delay time is. When you click into the camera location on the app, it eventually updates it to live again. But you ask yourself What if something happened during that time? Would you have record of it? I do like that when the cameras do catch movement and record it, you can call it up on the app and view each one. But again, there are cameras that would have had to record first before my other ones would record due to the set up and those ones do not have any recordings during that time. Hmmm, after writing this, I think I am going to go change my rating to a lower number. For the amount that I paid for this system, you should have a more reliable service. My purpose for the cameras is for peace of mind that if someone is on my property uninvited and takes or damages something, I want to know who it is and when it happened and have something to turn over to authorities. There are way too many thefts and burglaries in my area now.

    I would and have recommended these cameras to others .. the pictures are excellent and so is the night vision..the night owl customer service are also quick and very good to help you.. if you want great wireless cameras these are a plus

    Buggy software, worse tech support - PLEASE READ!!

    I develop software for a living so this is coming from someone who has a reasonable idea where potential issues could be occurring... I bought this system from best buy and installed two of the four cameras. The setup was easy. The cameras do a nice job of recording. When the notifications on my app were turned off, it worked reasonably well. The major issue that I kept encountering was when I had the notifications on my phone turned on. I would receive notifications constantly saying that motion was being detected. I would check the recordings on my phone and log in to my DVR and there would be no recording. It would continue to constantly send me notifications. When it would send me notifications and I would click on them, some of the notifications were for the cameras that were not connected. I went through the typical things that tech support would walk you through with logging out and back in with the app and DVR, reinstalling the app, reinstalling factory settings on the DVR, disconnecting and reconnecting the cameras, etc. I tried changing the notification settings on the app to remove the cameras that weren't connected. I changed the settings on the DVR to remove the unconnected cameras completely. I also tried adjusting the camera motion sensitivity (although there seemed to be no issue with that because the recordings when motion was occurring worked properly). The same issues would continue to occur. I was thinking that the way the system was set up was that the DVR was logged in and would send notifications to their server which had a central process that would send push notifications or the app would be calling a web service to hit their server to determine if a new notification for my account was received. I do more mobile web than mobile app development so I was speculating a little on how the phone received the event. It seemed very possible to me that either the software on the app that received the notifications or whatever process is running on their servers to determine that an event was triggered had a bug that needed to be corrected. I called on multiple occasions to talk to their tech support and report the issue. We again walked through all the same things I had previously done. I was reporting what was happening and they told me what I was reporting was NOT POSSIBLE as I was witnessing it. They felt like replacing the DVR would fix the issue. At one point, I turned the DVR completely off and about 10 minutes later I received messages detecting motion which they said was not possible. I felt that showed there was a software issue with the notifications. He told me, not asked me, that I didn't actually power off the DVR. I told him that I had turned it off. He said that I hadn't because sending notifications without it on was not possible and that turning off the TV which was displaying the screens was not the same as powering down the DVR. Really? As I continued to jump through hoops, he asked me to check my download and upload speeds. Due to having 15 mbs upload speed he said the problem was that the messages were being delayed. I asked if having 100 notifications in a day on my phone and 2 recordings on the DVR contradicted that theory. If they were just being delayed, I would expect 2 late notifications. At that point, he wanted me to disconnect every device in my house and give him my user name and password to log in to my account. I told him that I wouldn't be giving him my password as that's a major security concern. Even asking someone for their password SHOULD be a major no-no. The same or similar password can be used in other places. If his company wanted him to know that information, he'd see it on the screen in front of him, right? At that point, he accused me of lying to him and reporting things that weren't actually happening. He actually said the words, "You're lying to me". Wouldn't you think at some point that they would think there could in fact be an issue and they should escalate to level 2 support to investigate? If you don't want to actually do that, just give me my money back and let me move on with my life. I want a WORKING security system that does what it should. If they could fix this issue where I am notified only when motion is detected and recording was done, I would want to keep this. To me, receiving notifications is as important as recording. In my experience, they refuse to believe that there could be anything wrong the needs to be investigated.

    Video is pretty good. Overall happy with the product. The only thing I don’t like is when you try and block out the areas you don’t want to record on motion it still does and kinda annoying but other than that I’m happy

    This is a good alternative to a wired system. I had issues with the furthest camera and had to use their included extender. I would recommend this to someone who is rather handy with tools or use a contractor for a professional finish as I had to repurpose outlets wiring in the walls and attic specifically to be able I could plug in the cameras. As outlets will not typically be in convienient locations. My only con is the actual app interface could be a little better.

    Has good image quality - good wireless camera wifi range - no problems with setup, configuration, or usage - the video review has a timeline showing all 4 cameras and when they were recording so you can jump right to any points of interest - night vision range and clarity is unbelievable - no complaints

    WiFi cameras work great. System is awesome. I like the fact you can view cameras away from home w/ app. Only downfall is not being able to add more than 4 channels. But can’t beat it for the price.

    Bought these and they have awesome video. They had trouble staying connected to WiFi in some areas further away from router. I didn’t realize we needed a WiFi booster and had we had a booster I now believe these cameras would be 5 stars. They have really clear video and you can make out the person from far away.

    The video is excellent quality. Having an issue with one of the power adapters for one of the cameras. Working with NightOwl now to get a replacement. They have been quick to respond so far. Would like a wider angle on the cameras though. Otherwise seems to be a really nice system.

    So far I have 3 of the 4 cameras installed. Installation is easy, I did run into a problem with how far the broadcast. Overall a good purchase Best Buy had them on sale, so it was a good deal. I'll get the rest of it working, I'm sure.

    Very little lag time in the pictures. Good quality both in the day and at night. The only draw back was that due to our house being a brick structure, we were only able to mount the cameras in limited areas to receive signal.

    Love the quality, it’s easy to use and the phone app is pretty easy to navigate. If I had one negative, they do not offer a mount kit for drop ceilings so your only option is mounting into the wall with screws.
