Camera was easy to set up as long as you can run the wires. Running wires is the hardest part. I set mine up in a conditioned part of my attic and had an old monitor laying around that connected nicely via VGA. Set up on the DVR unit was pretty easy for me but I am a tech kinda guy. The email notifications are not working with gmail but I have yet to try a firmware update. I love the functions of the recording and scheduling all works great. The only con I would say is the iOS app is weak and doesn't look like it gets many updates. It crashes a lot and leaves a lot to desire of it in functionality but it does do the job sort of.

While researching security cameras, I found that Night Owl is one of the best (from installer recommendations and people who use Night Owl). I'm so glad I went with Night Owl. The 8 channel means I can add 4 more cameras. At present, I have 6. The clarity during both day and night are awesome. I can check remotely on my tablet or smartphone and also view all cameras on my television set. I'm very happy with this purchase and would recommend this product. Also, I like that Night Owl has 24/7 customer service.

You get what you pay for with this system. The daytime pictures are great, but the night pictures are terrible unless there is some kind of background light. If you're looking for a system that takes great nighttime pics, then look at a better system.

I didn't keep the item. I found a different system I decided to go with.

Cameras were easy to install. Hooked them up to the tv in the master bedroom. Clear picture even at night time.

This system is reasonably priced and was very easy to install. Setup was easy, as was the remote viewing with the app. Very pleased with this purchase!

I had been looking for a reasonably priced camera/dvr system. This system could not be any easier to set up. The DVR walks you through 98% of it and the 24/7 tech support gets you the rest of the way. These are not Megapixel cameras if you have any experience with commercial cameras, but they certainly meet my residential needs. Setup on my smartphone was a snap. The hardest part of this is figuring out where you want to put your cameras and actually pulling the cables.

I bought this system in November and it is now July and I still do not have working cameras for my security system, I have contacted Night Owl 22 times because my cameras were very fuzzy, not in color during the day and the cord from the DVR to the cameras was so hot to the touch I could not hold it for more than 5 seconds, I still do not have replacement cameras which I was told they would send me. They asked me disconnect all of my cameras and test them after we initially installed them before they could proceed with resolving my issue. My issue is still not resolved. Don't waste your money!

My Night Owl system lasted 2 years before all channels became fuzzy. completley NOT viewable.The quality from day one was HORRIBLE. How this company stays in business is AMAZING. try calling customer support. You will be on hold for hours. When I did get to talk to a person they were unable to help me get my system to work online so I could view via my phone.
