Customers value the impressive zoom capabilities and excellent image quality of the AF-S DX NIKKOR 55-300mm lens. They also appreciate its ease of use, and many find the lens to be lightweight and versatile. While some find the size a bit large for portability, the positive feedback on image quality and zoom range outweighs this concern for most users.

I purchased the Nikon 55-300 lens a few months ago to use on my Nikon D7100. Admittedly, considering the price, I was expecting OK results, but after shooting with it the first time, I was blown away by the images this lens produced. This lens is amazingly sharp at all focal lengths, including 300 mm! I couldn't believe my eyes when I looked at the photos on my computer. Wow! Some reviews said the autofocus speed is slow, and yes that may be true, but I've shot kids soccer games with it and had no problems with the autofocus speed on a D7100. Sure, a pro will buy the Nikon 300mm 2.8 lens, but if your just an amateur photographer on a budget, you should definitely consider this lens in my opinion. The lens is very light weight and not too big to leave on the camera for an all day photo shoot. Its nice that it has a metal lens mount. The clip on lens hood maybe could be better, but it works just fine for me and has never fallen off during use. If you are thinking about buying this lens, I say "go for it". For the price and the quality images it makes, I don't think you can go wrong.

This is a great lens. I purchased the D5200 and wanted a larger zoom than what the kit(18-55) lens offers. The associate alerted me of a really nice deal. I saved $150 dollars on the lens when I got the camera! it was a great deal and the lens really helps in certain situations.

This Lance is excellent for the money which you pay.excellent for landscape shooting and some sports , I use lens about six months take pictures of landscape and sport images are beautiful, if you shooting sport action that only my recommendation is to put on AF-C mode and take the VR off THAT WILL BRING YOU MORE QUALITY PICTURES.

Great lens to add to your bag. I have had this lens for just about a year and love it. It's a great all around lens for close up shots. Those with kids in sports and activities, this lens is a must. Superb quality and great pics.

Just getting into photography...had the 15-75mm, and needed one for zooming further. It is awesome, crystal clear pictures and the AF feature helps with stabilization.

I bought this lens a few days ago in Green Bay and I am totalely amazed at the pictures I've taken .I owned a Nikon 18-200MM lens before this one .Luckily for me my other lens went "Kaputz".I would highly recommend this lens for the price and quality.

Wanted a lens for taking shots of sporting events and vacations. This has proven to be a lens that has been able to do it all. Clear, crisp pictures, nice focal length, and fast. On the down side, the barrel of the lens is almost too tight, resulting in jerky movements while trying to zoom in or out. Also, while the camera is trying to find the focus, the lens makes a lot of noise. Overall, for the price and picture quality, I can deal with the con's of this lens.

I'm not a professional photographer but I have been taking pretty good pictures of objects and landscapes from a pretty far distant away. With a control on the lens, it has a setting where it can auto focus on an object and stabilize your image with VR. I shake pretty bad but with VR, picture comes crystal clear!!!

have to remember to twist it the opposite from normal in order to install or remove it; takes good, clear photos from afar; a bit bulky for carrying around if not needed right away

Nice Lense

This is a great lense but it is fairly large and heavy. I got this lense as part of a bundle with the camera body. If I had to do it over again I think I would just go with the 55-200mm lense is it is smaller and lighter and would give adequate zoom for my needs.

I purchased this lens as part of a bundle package when I got my Nikon DSLR 5100. I started off using this lens when I got to my vacation destination and got some awesome pics using it. However, I soon learned for most average shots, to use the 18-55m, that came with the camera. This lens is great for portraits, but at a distance. I used this lens for most of my far away shots that I couldn't get with the 18-55m, and even then they seemed up close. This lens is able to capture remarkable detail! I joke with people and tell them when using this lens, you are able to see what people are thinking due to the resolution. Great lens and plan to learn to use it better.

Great zoom lens for my Nikon 5100. Just used it at the Tour de France. Fast acquisition and great for continuous shooting pics and HD filming. Recommend purchasing with a package deal, better bang for your buck. Highly recommend.

Bought this for my wife for Christmas, and she loves the ease of changing this lens or any of the other 2 that came with the camera. She as well as I enjoy taking pics for pleasure, and this brings images much much closer. And since I use the camera as much as her, and she is happy with it, so am I.

I used this lens for a week and exchanged it for the 70-300mm VR. The focusing on the 55-300mm was just too slow for my use. The image quality is excellent but if you need a long lens for sports or moving subjects then spend the extra money for the 70-300mm.

I have used this lens for both sports photography as well as astro photography (mostly moon photos). I have had no complaints and my pictures always turn out great! I feel this is a must have lens for anyone who is looking to get those close up shots but are somewhat far away to use a smaller lens. Definitely recommend for wildlife photography!
