Customers are saying

Customers value the impressive zoom capabilities and excellent image quality of the AF-S DX NIKKOR 55-300mm lens. They also appreciate its ease of use, and many find the lens to be lightweight and versatile. While some find the size a bit large for portability, the positive feedback on image quality and zoom range outweighs this concern for most users.

Package deals with the Nikon D3200 usually offer several extra lens options. I took the longer lens to be able to use it at sporting events. It was a bit more than the other option (which was a 200mm if I recall), but I've enjoyed the fact that I can get nice closeups from the "cheap seats" at sporting events.

    Great lens for the price...

So not as "fast" as a 2.8 straight through lens, but also 1/5 the price. Due to the DX format of the lens, very lightweight but still Nikkor quality. So great lens for a telephoto with a reasonable price.

Bought this lense because it was in a package. Wish I would have gotten the deal from the week before. It had the 300mm lense, which would have been better for recording my daughter in her soccer games. Still love this one though!

The 55 to 300 zoom lens compliments the 18 to 55 lens which typically comes with the camera.

    Solid lens, sharp, some vignetting

    Posted .

Love the build and feel of this lens . . . I've used cheap lenses before and they feel flimsy and clicky. The Nikon 55-300 is solid and smooth in its use. Photo sharpness is very nice with this lens and I've found it to be more reliable than my comparable Canon lens. One issue I had with the Nikon, however - its photos had significant vignetting. I found this to be disappointing. I've attached a photo that shows the vignetting, particularly in the upper corners. Overall, this is a solid lens with good sharpness - vignetting aside, it's a bargain for a Nikon lens.
