I recommend getting this camera whether it is a school class or just simply for photos. The quality is wonderful. The menu is simplified and not hard to understand. The quality is definitely better than the L340 camera. The best thing about this camera is the battery life. I have taken over 500 photos and the battery life is still full. I also recommend buying rechargeable batteries. Even if you chose not to buy the rechargeable batteries, the camera is still worth it because the battery life is long. I've taken the camera three times, turned on all day and the battery is still full. It was always my main concern about cameras that use batteries. As a beginner, it was easy to learn. Did not take me long. My family members and boyfriend learned how to use the camera pretty quick. I went to the zoo with the camera and two different people, women and a man, had both asked where I bought the camera. They looked at it and told me they loved how easy and simple it was structured. The ZOOM is the best! Even if you zoom all the way in, the quality is still the greatest!

It has a great zoom. Pictures come out very good. Good flash for night pictures. I took some gorgeous sunset pictures. It does not do very well for sports but after all it is a great camera if you don't want to go too pro but still want some quality pictures.

GREAT: zoom, image auto color balance; quality, battery life, handling. Overall, very happy. But... NEEDS HELP: lens cap interferes with on/off functions; can't start off in "review pics" mode; lack of user controls for pics (lots of modes, little manual control), lots of blur at zoom - image stabilization needs help.

This camera has a great focus, great 1080p video mode and i bought it for half the price of any other great nikons camera sell for. i bought this camera for shooting professional videos for work and taking amazing pics on vacation and it has not let me down. I'm very impressed with the quality the functionality the design and all the standard features are amazing and I'm glad i got it at a amazing Price!

Easy to use yet flexible, pics were fantastic. We went to a butterfly garden and bird sanctuary and took many images of critters in motion. The colors were bright and vibrant. Much easier to carry than a DSLR. Uses 4 AA batteries that can be found anywhere, not specialty batteries that can be expensive and hard to find or lithium ion rechargeable batteries that require you to find electrical outlets.

This camera is so responsive...all I have to do is look around me, and the pictures keep coming! easy to use and beautiful pics!

I loved the camera and many of the features. It was lightweight and the zoom was amazing. The few downfalls were there was. No sport mode, action shots were blurry and the position of the video button was right where my thumb rested, so many times I would accidentally hit the video mode, and that was inconvenient. I wish there was a lock button or an easy flip cover. I returned the camera due to these two flaws, but overall, I did like the basics of the camera.

this camera does almost anything, it takes wonderful pictures inside even without the flash, i have a canon camera and a kodak, this nikon out doees all of them all together. very happy with our selection of this camera, will keep on shooting. maybe i can get better using this camera

Bought this for our 14 yr.old granddaughter and she is loving it. Very easy for her to use and she's taking great pictures!

This camera is easy to use. I love that the monitor can be angled. It makes it easier to take pictures when you are not in front of your subject, also when there is a glare on the monitor. I am still learning about all the special modes for taking pictures such as pet mode, fireworks. I can't wait to use them all. Great features.
