very fun to use, crazy long zoom. takes good pictures, works great for bird shots, moon etc. purchased this after using the P900 for quite awhile, and yes the P1000 is a better camera.

I would say its an engineering marvel.. great range & amazing quality for the price.

I have had the Nikon P900 for quite a while and it was OK. So tried the P1000. I found the phots OK, except when zooming to 2000-3000 the images were too soft. That zoom is why you would want this camera. So I returned it. Oh, and its way too large and bulky. (I got the Sony RX10iv. Zoom is way less at 24-600, but the quality of the shots are fantastic. That zoom range is just fine. Camera is normal size and light weight. 1” sensor. Way better!)

The P1000 is definitely an upgrade over the P900 I have. The P1000 feels solid and well made, more like a DSLR camera. The zoom capability is awesome.

More then I could have ever imagined. Its very big, but if you handle it just right, its incredible! More like a computer and camera rolled into one!

Great camera. We have basically replaced 2 other cameras with this one. This camera is so much lighter than the other ones, and the picture quality is much better.

Better than a spotting scope. Use it for deer hunting. Incredible zoom. Can identify bucks at over 800 yds. Need good light and a steady rest.

What a great all-around camera. Pictures are amazing. Zoom in and get even more amazing detail. Because of the large lens size, a tripod is highly recommended.

Initially the P900 was my first on a pre-release. Bought this to upgrade from it and found it a little large. I returned the P1000 and went P950 which I still have (sold the P900). IMO the P950 is the most useful and practical of the three. If the P900 would have had the EVF of the P950 it would have been the top unit. I still miss the GPS feature the P900 had! Still have the P950 and use it often all over. Now for flying/action stuff nothing tops a DSLR like my D500. Just know and limit your expectations with a bridge camera.

This camera is amazing I shot my daughter's Horse Show and people were asking me if I did this for a living!!!

Love this camera no need to buy multiple lenses, the quality of picture is amazing. All pictures look alive, I am very satisfied/pleased

Great overall camera to do everything you want it to do, from macro to shooting the moon and birds. I wish the megapixel would be stronger as it doesn’t produce the sharpest photos, but great for small prints. It a a nice backup to have incase something happens to my main professional camera. It does sometimes jam like others comment when shooting long zoom, which you have to manually shut off and turn back on. That I do not like as I feel it damages the camera.

Very impressed with the clear very long shots. I'm nit very steady but the camera made my pictures look like a professional.
