Just got this Nikon P950 and I couldn't be more happier. I took a few pictures of the moon and it is so detailed and crisp that you can see all of the craters on the moon. I am happy I made this selection between the P1000 & P950. The P950 in my opinion is a better camera all around for less. I will update this post and share a few pictures I took and you can see how crisp the images are. Keep in mind, I didn't have a tripod yet when I took these images and it still came out excellent.

This camera was easy to learn and is easy to use. I like the presetting options, and the zoom and macro functions. The size of the camera makes using the strap, as the camera is not heavy. Is better than caring a tripod around, making it convient to hike with, which I do a lot of.

I typically buy Cannon but decided to take a chance on this Nikon because of it’s incredible zoom capabilities. After using it for almost 3 weeks I’m very impressed. The 83x zoom on the P950 is awesome and the pictures I’ve taken are pretty good. If you’re looking for a great bridge camera, this is it.

Excellent beginner to intermediate skills builder. Buttons that are easy to understand, operate, and reach in this light weight long shot to macro shot camera.

This camera is an incredible value for the full range of features it provides. The larger view finder is a great improvement over the p900. Addition of 4K video opens up a whole new world of possibilities including ability to extract 8mp still photos from the video stream to capture the exact shot from an action recording. The ability to shot raw photos expands the ability to fine tune a desirable photo.
I really like my p900 but always wished it had the additional features now included in my P950.
The P950 has a new battery different from the p900 and takes fewer total photos per charge but this is easily overcome by buying additional batteries for times of longer shooting sessions.
The addition of a lens hood on the P950 is also a nice feature missing on the p900.
The versatility of being able to shoot incredibly close Macro to getting extremely long shots is great.
Highly recommended!

Nice point and shoot camera. I previously had the p900 and I must say I find the p950 a bit less user friendly. There are some features I am not a fan of, such as the way it sets a timer automatically when in moon mode. I am relatively happy with this camera

This is the most amazing camera! It is so easy to use, and I was getting fantastic pics from the beginning. I am a beginner but the bird and moon settings gave me exactly what I was looking for. I can’t say enough about the telescopic lens. I have found birds I could never have seen with my binoculars. I am so pleased!
It's heavier than I'm used to but troubles started

It's heavier than I'm used to. I didn't realize that the viewer swung out but that's ok. The battery charged up just fine and I have used it about 3 times and the photos are great and the zoom is fast and fantastic. It died on me in the middle of a job with the zoom still out and I had to use my phone. Usually when the battery runs out, my previous Nikon shuts down all the way so this was odd. So I get back home and plug the camera in and it's not charging. I have batteries and a separate charger coming in a couple of days. Meanwhile, I'm going to call BB and see if they can get me a new camera. Luckily I don't have an immediate need.

My wife loves this camera. Great for wildlife photography. She’s new to photography outside the realm of iPhone, She’s finding it easy to learn and use. Very happy with the purchase and the price.

I recently purchased the Nikon Coolpix P950, and I'm absolutely thrilled with it! This camera is a game-changer for anyone who loves capturing wildlife, celestial objects, or distant scenes.
I am incredibly impressed with the Nikon Coolpix P950. It's a powerful and versatile camera that is perfect for photographers of all skill levels. If you're looking for a camera that can take you closer to the action, the P950 is a fantastic option.

This camera is terrific. Great zoom. Easy to download pictures over wifi. It has a feature to connect the camera to my iPad using wifi and take pictures with the iPad remotely.

Pros:
Great all around camera. You can go from macro to moon mode in a second flat. The zoom on this camera is AMAZING! I can even faintly see the rings around Saturn with this thing. Being able to shoot raw is also a plus for being able to post process the images. No need to swap between 2 different lenses to get the shot you want. Just point, zoom, and shoot.
Cons:
Limited to F stops between 2.8 - 8.0.

There is no question this camera has a massive zoom range and with a 2,000mm equivalent zoom, you can really get in close. However, the autofocus is slow, it never accurately focused all the multishot pictures we took. Some complain about the small sensor, that's an issue with image quality, it's just not up to other Nikon cameras. Even my old Coolpix 995. While it has a ton of features, it isn't easy to get set up to do what you want it to do, and some are not sticky, so you have to set them every time.
The zoom functionality was frustrating. it was difficult to get it to hone in on the zoom length we wanted when we wanted it. Unlike a manual zoom, it was fussy and at times didn't seem to stop right off.
This camera is virtually impossible to hand hold a shot past about 600mm or so equivalent focal length. After that, you must brace it. So a lot of the capabilities are not quite as easy to use.
While it's a beginner's camera with advanced features, it's too much of a mish-mash for me. We missed our return period and have sold it on the used market.

Pros: The standout feature of the Coolpix P950 is its incredible zoom range. With an 83x optical zoom lens, the camera allows me to capture distant subjects with exceptional clarity and detail. I would say this is the best camera for wildlife photography for this price range.
Cons:
I could see that images taken at the extreme end of the zoom range lacked sharpness or detail. Image quality is not good in low light conditions.

I was looking for a camera for taking bird pictures and wanted a good zoom range. This is perfect for this. The zoom is great to capture small birds at quite a distance. In fact, I was able to see, identify and photograph a bird I only suspected was there with the naked eye and could see with binoculars but not enough to identify. It's also surprisingly good for close up macro-type work. It has its limitations otherwise, but for what I was needing it to do, it has been terrific.
