I love all my Ninja stuff. However, I didn’t end up using this at all. I was about to but didn’t like that I couldn’t pick the temperature and the whole reason I bought it was for more sterile container and cleaning but it’s not any easier to clean! Returned it

I tried to like it because of the price I paid for it but the bottom line is it sucks. It has 4 temperature settings and two of those are similar. To cook frozen biscuits or anything similar and get the center done the outsides will be rock hard. There are better and more versatile products on the market for the amount of money this cost. Im in the process now of buying something else and will be giving this away just to be rid of it.

This is a Great Cooking System

The Ninja Crispi Portable Cooking System comes with two glass dishes, that have covers and also each has a plastic rack for the bottom of the bowl. The bowls have attached plastic handles that do not come off. There is also a nice cookbook included with several options for meals. I am an experienced cook so I just have tried my own recipes. I first took fresh potatoes and cut them into shoestring French fries and air fried them for 10 minutes. I spritzed them with avocado oil and salt & pepper. They were delicious. I bought 2 large turkey legs and baked, then air fried until they reached the correct temp. They were very good. I reheated left over filet mignon and used the air fryer function for 10 minutes and the steak got warm but remained medium rare and tasted great. For a side of vegetables, I cut up potatoes, carrots, cabbage and onions and baked and air fried. The cabbage got a little over done but the combo was very good. This cooking system is somewhat easier to use than my large air fryer and the 2 sizes of bowls give you so much flexibility and they can be washed in the dishwasher. The bowls stack but the top unit would need to be stored somewhere and today’s kitchens have so many devices that storage can be a challenge. This unit would be ideal for a small kitchen that didn’t have a large air fryer. The top unit does get very hot & care is needed when removing so I wouldn’t recommend allowing young children to make snacks or reheat meals in this unit. I have been a learning how to make some quick & very good meals with this device. I actually prefer using this vs. my large air fryer/toaster oven. You can buy extra glass dishes so you could make several meals for different days so this would be ideal for when people come home from work & could quickly prepare a meal. I highly recommend!

I wanted to love this product and do not know if mine was defective, but it either burned the food or it left it under cooked. I tried doing vegetables and they were so fried and dehydrated, you couldn't even eat it. I tried again using less time and they were hard. I even tried adding water and it did not work. False deceptive advertisement. This was not a 5 in 1. It’s only a 4 in 1. I had purchased a4 in 1 at Target and got a 5% discount but returned it thinking I was getting the 5 in 1 from Best Buy and it was the 4 in 1. So I lost my 5% discount by buying it from BB.

When my wife told me about this product while we have 4 or 5 other things in our kitchen that contain some sort of "air-frying" capability, I didn't really get it. She's not one to get excited about gadgets. Now that we've had some time to use it, though, I can say that I understand now. Setup is basically nothing. Wash the dishes. Then it's just plug in and press the buttons to get your desired settings and hit go. It's a really strange product when you're used to air-fryers that are all largish units that sit on your kitchen counter. This is a pretty small thing you can carry in one hand and I think it does a better job than a lot of our other air fryers. The main purpose of this is to air-fry something you intend to take with you, I think. The dishes that you need to use have handles and you just place a metal spacer plate on the bottom that keeps the food off of the bottom and lets air circulate around. When your thing is cooked, you have lids you can stick right on the same dish you used to cook it and you can just carry it around with the handles. Really convenient if you're on your way to a barbeque or I guess even to just bring the dish to the dining room table to serve. This is the part I didn't fully understand when I heard about it. There's a bit of versatility and convenience you don't really get with larger stand-alone units that take up counter space. It comes with 2 dishes and I feel like the smaller one is more than capable for most of the meals I'm heating up for myself. If I have a lot of food to cook, the larger one feels big enough for most jobs we have. And we can also have the smaller dish cooking while we prepare the larger dish and just move the actual cooking unit to the larger dish when it's done. A lot of versatility, like I said. The modes are pretty standard and there's a sticker on the unit that tells you the temperature each one cooks at (ours did start to peel off, but the temperature ranges are pretty easy to figure out). You have a bake settings, a air-fry, crisper and reheater. Pick the poison for the job and set a time and you're off. The dishes are small enough that you don't need to do any sort of preheating because the space heats up really quick. I think that's why I like the job this unit does over my other air fryers. You might need to adjust some of your cooking times as you discover how this one cooks but I've found a lot of my foods come out a lot crispier in less time than most of the other air fryers I've used before. Cleanup is also pretty easy since they're basically just standard dishes to clean up. The heating unit can be wiped down as needed. Really a nice feature after looking at my small air fryer oven and how infrequently we clean that. I can't really think of anything bad to say about this. Everything is easy to use, easy to clean and it does a great job at cooking. If there is a negative, it's just adjusting the time you cook some of your foods which you'll pick up over time. Otherwise, I'm a big fan. If you don't have an air fryer, I'd really consider this one. If you have another one or two that are working great for you, you might not need this but it's still worth considering just for the versatility and convenience this has.

Excellent small batch air fryer, not portable tho

This is my third air fryer, also from ninja, and it's also excellent. The first one was a dual zone air fryer which was great, but very large and unwieldy and difficult to wash with a small sink and no dish washer. The second was a large single zone unit, which we still use pretty frequently for cooking mains. It's a bit overkill for something smaller though. This device is exactly what I'm looking for for making smaller batches and reheating. It's a perfect fit. So in the box you get the heating unit, your two glass vessels, little elevation trays, and a few other bibs and bobs. There's also an included manual and recipe book, which you should really familiarize yourself with. Once you learn the cooking times for protein and veg, you'll get a feel for it. Wash everything prior to your first use, it's just good practice. For the inaugural cook I turned to my go-to air fryer dish - wings ... carribbean jerk to be precise. So here's where I actually don't follow the directions, I like to stack my wings a little bit to fit more in there, it's never been an issue. I just rotate them a bit during cooking ... cooking time unaffected. Came out great, as expected. So yeah I don't have much more to say than this is probably the most convenient air fryer I've ever used. The different sized dishes, clear glassware making it easy to see if things are getting overdone, the ease of reheating leftovers with the little stacker plate thing .. yeah it's great. Final thoughts? I think this would perfect for anyone with a small kitchen or limited counter space, or anyone really looking to upgrade their work lunch experience. Whether reheating leftovers or doing actual cooking, it's convenience is unmatched. Also worth considering, older people or people who might struggle with larger bulkier machines will find this much more manageable. That's a big plus. I do have to say "portable" is a bit of stretch though. In my book if something is portable that means I can take it anywhere and use it anywhere. This requires an outlet for use, obviously, so that marketing feels disingenuous. You know what else is portable? Literally anything that I can physically pick up and transport to another place. My living room furniture? So portable lol! It's not worth losing a star or anything over as this thing performs exactly as expected, but come on. If you're in the market for an air fryer for this is a great one.

A novel option for a second air fryer

Air fryers are everywhere these days, something that Ninja has certainly contributed to with what seems to be their mission statement to add one to every small appliance possible. At first glance, the Crispi seems like it'll be more of the same in a new form factor, but much to my surprise it seems to be trying something new. Rather than trying to be a jack of all trades it seeks to fill a very specific niche with a highly focused design: it's a machine for side dishes and leftovers. There are a few things that you wouldn't even usually think of as features that have been omitted, like granular temperature control. This does have the upside of making it very easy to use, and makes you very grateful to have a way to actually watch whatever you're cooking through the glass container. It's by no means impossible to use it to cook like you would a regular air fryer, particularly if you're willing to use the recipes provided with it, but I certainly wouldn't recommend doing it regularly unless you plan to stick to a few simple recipes where you can work out the exact settings and times that work best. Build quality overall is excellent. The glass containers used for cooking are sturdy and work great for leftover storage too. The material is said to be hardened against thermal shock and seems to be living up to it - going straight from the fridge to the fryer and back again is no issue. The no-stick platforms used to create room for air to circulate are also well made, and everything is dishwasher safe. That said, storage can be a bit awkward. The glass containers can't really nest due to the handles, only the smaller platform has integrated storage, and the air fryer unit itself is a bit of an awkward shape to cram into a kitchen cupboard. All in all, as good as it is as crisping up fries or reheating leftovers, it just takes up too much space and doesn't have enough utility to justify it in a working kitchen. But then I also don't think that's the goal either. This is something you buy for your office, dorm room, or camper as an alternative to relying entirely on a microwave.

Right up front the only thing I don’t like about it is how many components come with it. Now, to be completely fair, this is also the entire purpose of buying this. We don’t have a lot of storage space so this kind of takes up a bit of room. However, it is absolutely amazing at doing what it does. Leftover salmon tastes way better in this than warmed up in the microwave (Also, after testing this at home, it doesn’t quite have that microwave smell that is so detested at meetings. But even better than that, if you have a battery back that can handle it, this is small enough just to use in your car our outside with one of those unlike carrying a microwave in your car. I did wings in here and they turned out amazing, I did them from frozen so they took quite a bit longer than the recipe book said but to no ill effects. We also did a pile of nuggets in it and they turned out perfect. The small one is perfect for lunch. I put a fillet of fish and a pile of veggies, throw the lid on it and take it to work, then cook it for a bit and it turns out perfectly. The large one the lid is used after as it can be thrown on and the whole thing can be thrown in the fridge instead of putting it in a different container. It is easy to use, and I love the whole system, minus the fact that it takes a little bit more room to store than a regular counter top air fryer.

    One Pot Wonder

The Ninja Crispi fills a much needed niche in the kitchen. I absolutely love my regular air fryer and we will always have one in the house because it not only helps with cooking, everything tastes way better as well. While the Crispi may not replace your standard air fryer, and I don't believe it is meant to, it takes these conveniences to the next level but also covers more of those gaps that comes with cooking like cleaning and storing leftovers. It's as much of a time saver as it is a money saver. With the glass TempWare containers, cooking and storing becomes one thing. This means less dishes to clean, less containers to use to store leftovers and less containers to have to clean after the leftovers are gone. Most of the items are dishwasher safe, too, so thanks to all this, your water bill is going to benefit significantly in addition to the time saving. Despite its size, this thing really seems to pack some power. I suppose since it's more concise than your average air fryer, the heat really focuses down into the food. It was impressive just how well everything cooked and for the most part, very thoroughly. I say 'for the most part' because the more you tend to the cooking, the better it will be but more on that below. I used "Air Fry" for a grilled cheese, used "Recrisp" for leftover green beans which turned them into green bean fries (YUM!) and my wife made a one pot meal using "Bake" for turkey kilebasa, chopped up yukon potatoes and baby carrots which fed 4 of us with still plenty of room left in the container to spare. It was roasty and delicious. One of the best things is since the containers are glass, you can see how your food is doing without always having to take the PowerPod off, which helps considering the weight of it (more on that as well, below). There isn't really anything inherently bad about this device. There are mainly just a couple of things to watch out for when cooking. Like any devices in the kitchen, you just need to learn how to use them both properly and safely. For instance, the first thing I made was a grilled cheese using the smaller 6 cup container. With the tray inside, the top slice of bread was somewhat close to the underside of the PowerPod, maybe an inch away. The power of the fan actually sucked the bread up into the metal protective grate right after turning on. I was glad I was watching as that would have really burned the bread and possibly create a dangerous situation since nearly the entire element was covered. Putting a little mayo inside the bread got it to stay down and it was OK then but it leaves a concern with the smaller containers with anything else that could potentially get sucked up. The other thing worth noting, while the Crispi does cook a full container of food evenly, is you need to consistently stir the food for best results. It's not a set it and forget kind of device so you do have to tend to it for some things more than others. Again, it's all about trial and error and understanding your machine through experience. Lastly, and this is just a personal gripe, but the starting sound is obnoxiously loud. The only two things that one could potentially have fault with the machine itself is one, the cord is on the shorter side at 3ft long. Two, the PowerPod is heavier than I would have expected. It's understandable, for sure. However it can become straining constantly lifting it off and putting it back on while stirring/checking food. My right wrist is still healing from a minor sprain last month but I felt the strain when I used my right hand to do this. For others who suffer from any ailments, it could present a problem. While these may be things to worry about and may reduce a star for some, personally it wasn't an issue so I didn't feel it warranted a lower rating on my behalf. Other things that make the Crispi great is there are other TempWare glass containers you can purchase separately to better fit your needs. This versatility allows Ninja to continue to create additional products for this system that doesn't require buying a whole new device. Knowing Ninja, I'm sure they will continue to build upon this into the future making the Crispi a great investment. The size of the entire unit also takes up minimal space in a cabinet and your countertop when using it. Although there is some weight to the whole unit, it's definitely easy enough to pack up and bring to a friend or families' house to cook on location which makes this fantastic for any holidays or events. There really is a lot to love with the Crispi. Ninja once again has outdone themselves.

I am extremely impressed with the Ninja Crispi Portable Cooking System. It is by far one of the best air fryers I have ever used. It's easy to operate, yields consistent results, compact, and easy to clean. This cooking system is ideal for families, and individuals alike. It's modular and portable design makes it the perfect solution for quick easy, healthy meals at home or on the go.    Design and Portability: The Ninja Crispi Portable Cooking System is one of the best designed air fryers I have ever used.  The 4-Quart Glass container is perfect for quick meals for a small family and the 6-Cup glass container is the perfect for 1 to two people.  The cooking system comes with two leakproof lids allowing easy leftover storage. Plus, thanks to the borosilicate glass leftovers can be reheated directly from the refrigerator.  Functionality and Versatility: This particular model features 4 cooking modes.  Re-crisp, Bake, Air Fry, and Max Crisp. Each mode automatically adjusts the temperature and fan speed for optimal results.  The re-crisp mode is perfect for reheating and crisping fried chicken and fries resulting in crispy and juicy chicken, and fries with a perfect snap.   The bake mode was perfect for melting cheese thanks to the gentle convection. Air Fry and Max-Crisp are the definite go-to for frozen items,.  Ease of Use: This system couldn't be simpler. Place your items, pick your mode, adjust your time, and press start.  Keep in mind, cooking times definitely seem shorter than a conventional air frier thanks to the powerful 1500 watt PowerPod. The timer defaults to 10 minutes, but I found that cutting the time in half, stir/shake, and if needed another 5 minutes yielded almost perfect results.    Cooking Performance: Cooking performance alone would yield 5 stars. My first go resulted in VERY crispy fries, but I mistakenly followed the cooking instructions on the package... That's when I realized this was no ordinary air fryer. I cut the time in half, gave the container an occasional shake, and the second round was perfect. For my test, I intentionally overloaded the 4-Quart container, and unlike other air fryers I've used, the fries were surprisingly consistent in both doneness and crisp. With other fryers, an overloaded basket would have yielded soggy, inconsistent, mushy fries. Beyond fries, I also tested chicken wings and mozzarella sticks, both of which turned out evenly cooked and perfectly crisp. Cleaning and Maintenance: The modular and compact design and glass containers make cleanup a breeze! Everything (except the PowerPod) is dishwasher safe, but I found it actually takes longer to load them into the dishwasher than it did to wash by hand. In less than two minutes, both containers, the adaptor and power pod were washed/wiped and ready to go... If only everything was this easy...  Durability and Build Quality: The TempWare Glass Containers are made from Borosilicate glass making them extremely resistant to thermal shock and breakage. The leak-proof lids are made from BPA-free plastic.  Safety Features: The Ninja Crispy features an automatic shutoff function, stopping both heating and convection fan if the power pod is removed during the cooking process. This is further enhanced by Ninja's design decision of not securing/locking the PowerPod to the cooking container. Which means if by some unfortunate circumstances, the cooking system happened to be knocked over, there is very little risk of significant damage to the counter or surrounding areas.    It's important to remember, that while the risk is low, like any appliance, it should never be left unattended while in operation.   Value for Money: Given the features and performance of this cooking system; in my opinion is well worth the minimal investment.

I would recommend this to a friend
