This is great for many things. Only thing I don’t like is the baskets aren’t wide enough somethings like a small personal pizza or a whole chicken as my older airfryer.

I have several Ninja appliances and have come to expect high quality from this brand. This dual air-fryer lives up to expectations. The added capacity makes it possible to cook both the main protein and a side dish at the same time, or if you're feeding a lot of people, just more of either one. The ability to set different temperatures for each side also ensures that you can fully use that added capacity when cooking different things simultaneously. Or, if you're just cooking more of a single dish, you can set it to match both sides. The temperature probe is a nice feature, so you don't have to open the fryer to check on the progress of the dish, though you can just slide the basket out and back in during cooking without any problem. The noise of the fan is noticeable, but it's definitely more muted than other air fryers I've used. The non-stick baskets are easy to clean. After cooking chicken wings, they cleaned up with just a paper towel. The controls are easy to understand and intuitive to use. This is an excellent choice if you're looking for a quality appliance.

After 8 months one side of the ninja completely stopped working. Didn’t purchase the replacement policy for 1/3 price of machine because I expect it to last 2 years or at least a year!

I love my ninja air fryer

Life is so much easier with an air fryer. I had a small one before and didnt care much for it. Couldnt cook a lot in there, now I have the ninja and its awesome, I can cook large quantities, different foods at different temperatures. I dont have a microwave so is my go to instead. I bought parchment paper liners and they make this thing even better, I never have to waste my time scrubbing the bins. Overall has been a great addition to the household. If youre considering buying Id say go for it! It also bakes, broils, etc.

outstanding air fryer with tons of capacity

Let me preface this by saying I'm no expert on air fryers. Ask me about computers, audio and theater components, I'm in my realm. Ask me about kitchen appliances, I really only know things from a very basic level. Does it work? Was it easy? Does the food taste good, or was it more of a pain to use than it's worth? Ultimately these are the only questions I really ask, mostly because they're the only questions I care about when it comes to prepping my own food. First world problems I know, right? That being said, we do cook a lot in our household between myself, my wife, 2 little girls and my mother (God bless 'em, I love all my girls!) Sometimes the only difference between fast food and home cooking has been our air fryer. Now, don't get me wrong...some will try to tell you that this is the same thing as proper oil frying. It is not. What it is, however, is close enough without adding a ton of extra grease or oil (saturated fats) to your meal. It *won't* give you the exact same taste and texture of deep frying, it is pretty close, and of course without the mess of traditional frying as well. It's also a heck of a lot better than baking most items. For me, air frying typically falls into one of two camps: 1 - Cooking frozen foods which are meant to be either fried or baked. Things like frozen fries, tots, fish filets/sticks, chicken nuggets/strips/dinosaurs etc. 2 - Reheating leftovers. In my experience so far, this air fryer exceeds my expectations in both camps. Chick-fila get cold by the time you got it home? Reheat the nuggets and waffle fries for a couple minutes and we're back to just-like-fresh taste and texture. Need a quick dinner for the family? Throw on some fish filets or chicken breasts in one and veggies/fries/potatoes/whatever in the other. The possibilities really are endless, and of course this particular one gives you the real estate to cook more and the separation of the 2 pots to control them individually. Overall, my experience with this air fryer so far has been quite positive, though I will admit I'm not using some higher tech features it touts (Air Fry, Air Broil, Roast, Bake, Reheat, and Dehydrate all in one!) As simply an air fryer, I feel it is more than worth it. Only you know if you need the capacity this provides; if you do, this is a great choice. Well designed with a relatively small footprint, tons of capacity and control with the dual cook zones, and a solid brand to stand behind it. Easy 5 stars for me.

      Hi Paul,

Thank you for sharing your feedback on the Ninja Foodi XL 2-Basket Air Fryer. We understand how important a preheat function can be for certain cooking preferences. While this model is designed to reach optimal cooking temperatures quickly without requiring a dedicated preheat setting, we appreciate your perspective and will be sure to pass your comments along to our product development team.

    Excellent Multi-purpose Cooker

Inside the box you’ll find the fryer itself, fully assembled, and some documentation. The fryer itself is attractive with a matte black plastic exterior and chrome accents. The display is large and easy to read and is set behind the membrane style control panel. The fryer overall is large (16.5”W x 14”D x 13”H) but is surprisingly lightweight. The power cord measures 33” and is permanently attached. Getting started is super easy as the control panel is clearly marked and logically laid out: Power on the fryer, select which basket you’re working with, select a cooking method, set your time and temp, and away you go. Beyond basic air frying, there are a myriad of other cooking modes, including Bake, Roast and Dehydrate. The ‘Smart Finish’ mode helps to make sure differing dishes in the separate baskets finish at the same time. And the Smart Thermometer, which is nicely nested in a compartment on the side of the fryer, actively monitors the internal temperature of your dish and finishes the cooking process when your desired temperature is reached. The unit is surprisingly quiet while cooking and results are in-line with other modern air fryers. The dual 5qt baskets have a non-stick coating on both the walls and the removable crisper tray, making clean-up a cinch. About the only issue I noted was that, when a basket is removed during operation, the unit does not stop or pause cooking; it just keeps plugging away. So, if you go to stir your food mid-cycle, be sure to press the Start/Pause key. The Ninja Foodi 6-in-1 XL Air Fryer is an excellent multi-purpose appliance that will likely supplant several other countertop cookers in your kitchen.

The Smart XL 2-basket air fryer is such an amazing design. I can’t tell you how many times that I’ve had to jockey things between air fryer and oven to keep warm when trying to cook 2 different types of food. Well no longer! This baby can do that with ease. What I really like is the smart finish feature that will magically have both sides finish at the same time even when they must cook at different temperatures and or time. Also, if you do have the same food in both baskets/zones the match cook feature will have them both end at the same time. I also love the built-In thermometer which also has a convenient storage area on the side of the fryer to help prevent losing it. My wife always seems to have a challenge with cooking chicken so that it is done but not over-cooked and she absolutely loves this feature. We’ve cooked about every cut of chicken and by following the instructions on how to place the thermometer and setting the proper temperature it has been perfect every time! The non-stick baskets and crisper plates are super simple and a cinch to clean. The only down-side for us is that we switched over from an XXL size single basket air-fryer where we would cook large portions of things like French fries in a single batch where now since these baskets are narrower we have to fill both and shake frequently in order to evenly crisp them. The included documentation has several really tasty sounding recipes that take advantage of the dual cooking features. I have not had a chance to try any of them out yet but plan to soon.
