    A cute stress-reliever.

Being an owner of AC City Folk on the Wii, I enjoy this franchise. But the odd controls and home-console functionality meant that I never played it that often. This game takes many of City Folk's problems away. AC works perfectly on a dual-screen handheld because I can check on it whatever time of day I want, and not just at home. Now I finally have the incentive to actually play every day. They call this game "New Leaf" for a reason. It starts out similar to the old games; Rover welcomes you on a train, Tom Nook puts you into debt, etc. However, there's now a big turn in gameplay. Much rather than just being a mere villager, you now are the mayor of your own town. Now you can make public works projects, set ordinances, and have a cute dog named Isabelle as your secretary. There's all sorts of things to do. You can go fishing, talk with your fellow villagers, go shopping, pull weeds (WARNING: Weeds easily trigger people with OCD. Proceed with caution.), and more. If you need a break, you can veg out at the tropical Tortimer Island. This game is brimming with content. The 3DS also has amiibo functionality where you can get free items and villagers via amiibo cards and figures. All my useless cards were sitting around, gathering dust, so this is a great way to get one specific villager you want. Overall, this game is brimming with content. It has aged very well throughout it's lifetime. Those who are into vigorous gaming will probably get bored easily. However, I personally use it to relieve stress. If I get angry about a game, Animal Crossing will do the trick. While it doesn't really have a main "end goal," I still enjoy this time-killer. Many are upset that it's been several years since a real AC game has been released, but at least we can enjoy this gem until the time comes. This is yet another great game that doesn't even cost more than $20.

I haven't completed this game, so my review is based on first impressions (or about 5-10 hours of gameplay). Then again, I'm not sure this game even has an end... This is my first experience with Animal Crossing, and it's proven to be among the most relaxing games I've played. I must say that the formula works well on the 3DS. It's something you can choose to really dig into, but I've found it also works well if you just play for an hour or so each day. Time in-game reflects real time, so if you're a night owl, you may find it somewhat annoying that shops close over the course of the evening and don't re-open until the next morning. That said, collecting items, outfits, furniture, and even helping the townsfolk with their basic "get me this item" tasks is surprisingly enjoyable. A nice, low-pressure game that should appeal to fans craving for a more laid-back slice-of-life experience. Also, Isabelle is super cute.

This game is a few years old now, so the price has gone down considerably. It was worth the full original MSRP, so there's never been a better time to pick it up. Back when this game came out, my girlfriend and I used to play together almost every evening while we were long-distance. It 's a chill and low pressure way to spend some time with friends, or by yourself to relax! This game is more than appropriate for kids (been playing games from this series since I was 10) but it does require quite a bit of reading. At their own pace though! Would be a really fun bonding activity for a parent and child, as it's simple enough for non-techy parents to play. You will however, need your own console and copy of the game. You don't need any amiibo to play this game, but they are compatible and do add something to the experience. You can unlock items and choose which animal villagers live in your town with the figures and cards associated with the Animal Crossing line. Again though, this game was out for years before amiibo came along, so they're fully optional!

A welcome addition to the 3DS library, this edition of Animal Crossing combines many features of the GameCube and DS versions into a familiar package. If you're a fan of the series, you won't be disappointed. If you're new to Animal Crossing, this real-time town simulator will provide you with countless hours of relaxing play, as you slowly shape your tiny village. Unlike most simulators, like Sim City or the Sims series, Animal Crossing grows without you. Villagers move in and out without your input, building their houses where they wish, while you're away from the game. Like a bonsai tree, daily pruning and attention to the town's growth-changes will result in a kind of natural beauty you won't find elsewhere. The only thing the game lacks is space. This version's town is smaller than the GameCube version, owing perhaps to many of the shops and buildings like the museum having been moved to their own separate zone, kind of like a "Main Street". Nevertheless, I find myself wishing for a way to extend my town's borders.

Animal Crossing New Leaf is the current latest in the Animal Crossing series, and I can't think of a better entry point, especially at the game's MSRP. If you've never played an Animal Crossing title, the best way to describe the games is a relaxed life simulator. You can catch bugs, go fishing (my favorite activity), do gardening, or just walk around in the in-game world talking to your animal neighbors every so often. There is no true main objective - so unless you set goals for yourself, it's a title you pop in whenever you feel like kicking back and just taking things easy. I would suggest getting the game digitally now that it's so cheap. I own a physical copy, but I don't play it as often as I'd like since I don't always have it in the system when carrying it.

Animal Crossing: New Leaf is a game that both demands a lot and yet nothing at all from you. The game is really what you make of it. It can easily draw you in and have you logging back in day after day to check on your community. Animal Crossing: New Leaf is a game that you could play every single day for a year and still be interested, or you could set it down for a month, pick it up, and continue right where you left off. It is one of the best games out there for a relaxing and charming experience that keeps you coming back for more. So far, I have been addicted to it since I started playing it 3 months ago and have hardly been able to go a week without checking on my town.

Design your clothes, your furniture, your home and more in this installment of the Animal Crossing series. As Mayor you will make friends with animal townpeople, earn MEOW coupons to buy items, pass ordinances and finish public works projects. Players can find different animals (even under water), grow flowers & fruit, and dig up fossils. Visit the campground, the museum, nearby Tortimer Island, and many other locations. Tons of opportunities to build and decorate your world, similar to but more in-depth than Animal Jam. The game can also be expanded with Amiibo cards and figures, each unique character providing new bonuses, accessories, locations, or game modes. My daughter spent hours...and HOURS playing this during Christmas break!

I think this game is so much fun! It's a very casual and relaxed game, meaning that there isn't much pressure or a lot of action. On certain days, there is special events and different rewards. There are so many things for you to explore, experience, and enjoy! The packaging of the item was secure and nothing inside was damaged. This game does NOT come with any villager cards, as well. But even so, there is plenty of content for everyone to enjoy.

This is my first experience with an Animal Crossing game, and I have to say that I love it so far! I slowly realized that there's a lot of running and collecting things to basically grind for money (which I'm sure changes later on as your town grows) but I found that I wasn't annoyed by this at all. In fact, the atmosphere of the game, as well as the characters and items you interact with, honestly made collecting fun! I didn't expect it to be time based (in that it tracks the date and time of day) but that just makes it where I want to play it all the time! It's a nice concept for a game in that you can't possibly finish it any faster than it's designed to, which helps you just sit back and enjoy the world.

All the main Animal Crossing games are a specific niche. I'd hardly call them actual games; rather they're more like toys. You don't win or lose, you just have stuff you can do and you do it. Definitely not for everyone, but if just filling out collections, decorating a home, doing random tasks, and stuff of that nature sounds appealing then this game is probably a good choice. For players returning to the franchise, there's not much to say other than that it's a proper game in the series. I originally played the Gamecube version and this just feels like that but with more stuff to do.

I dig the animal crossing games when I just want something mellow and relaxing. If you have never played any of the games before this is a great place to start. It's a fun life simulation game kinda like harvest Moon but less stressful... At least that's my opinion. At first glance it doesn't seem like the type of game that could keep you coming back. But there's something about it that will pull you in over and over to check in on the town and characters. If you're interested in mellow gameplay or life simulation than this is for you. If you want excitement and difficult gameplay than you should probably take a pass on this game.

This game is beautiful and full of character. Like the previous game, it feels like you're playing a Miyazaki movie! The combat is simple, but rewards and punishes based on how well you pay attention to your team, equipment, and enemy strengths and weaknesses. The pacing is fast, and it never feels like you're stuck grinding in one place too long. Each new area is beautiful with its own array of characters, styles, and amazing atmospheric music. It flows nicely, but nothing feels rushed. Exploring, talking to people, completing side quests, and managing your kingdom is really fun and oddly relaxing. All in all a wonderful game!

Animal Crossing is a game that you could easily play casually and have fun with. It's also a game you can go 100% Hardcore on and wake up at 6:00 AM on a Sunday to buy turnips. It's a simple premise that can get incredibly deep depending on how much you want to get out of the game. Even after paying off your mortgage or doing what most people consider is the main storyline, the game doesn't end. There is always something to do. I played the original one on GameCube back in the early 2000's and was addicted to it. This is much worse (in a good way) because it's mobile and I can take it anywhere! 5/5 - Would fill up the entire Museum again

This was the first “Animal Crossing” game I’ve played. It came off as a cross between SimCity, The Sims, and Harvest Moon, but that’s oversimpiflying it. It’s a cute time waster, and an affordable entry in the Nintendo Selects series. You play the role of mayor, raising funds (by collecting and selling items) to pass ordinances and build fountains and such around the town. Your job is to keep residents happy - some will come and some will go, but it’s part of the ebb and flow of the game. The game is simple for kids but engaging for adults - just don’t have the highest of expectations.

This was my first animal crossing game ever. I was very skeptical at first because I knew that the game required a lot more attention than other games. However I eventually gave in and tried it out. All the animals were very indearing and fun to talk to. The writing is very charming and the game constantly rewards you with gifts and things for your home. My only gripe is, because my job requires me to work during the nights, I can only really play the game at night. Most of the events you come across only really happen during the day, so if you are a night owl like me...maybe you should pass on this.

I first bought this game when it came out almost 4 years ago, so this is actually my 2nd copy of the game! This is one those games where you really get a bang for your buck. There's so much to do that I still play my original copy of the game. Because the game saves on the cartridge and not on the SD card in your 3DS, you can have multiple cartridges of the game and therefore have multiple towns! The thought of making a brand new town without having to delete my old one was really appealing to me, so I decided to just buy another copy. The game costs less now than when it first came out , so it was definitely worth it.

This is the first animal crossing game I’ve ever owned and played and I can see why people love this game so much. There is so much to do every day in your village. I’m only a week in and I’ve already spent at least 20 hours playing it. I carry it with me everywhere I go. The characters are cute and you become kinda attached to them lol. If you have amiibos this game is compatible with many of them and give you lots of cool in game items. Pick this classic up and cherish it!

I was so thrilled to receive this game! Many of the aspects are similar to the original on the Game Cube, but many things have changed. It is hard to level up the stores, foreign fruit are not worth as much, and you have to pay to travel places (like $1000 bells!). Also, I don't own any Amibos which makes some aspects of game play difficult. Overall, it is a fun game as long as you do not expect it to be like the original. I'm certain someone new to the Animal Crossing world would love it and find no faults in it. :)

The game itself is good. This purchase was to replace a cartridge that had stopped working. The game would no longer load. Nintendo wanted us to send in the console with the game because we were unable to troubleshoot further. The cost of the RMA was to be well more than the price of trying a replacement cartridge ($20 at this point). It was recommended to us to buy a downloaded version of the game because, if it becomes corrupt, you can just re-download it. The drawback being that if you do not like the game, you can't trade it in.

I've bought this game when it was on sale for $12 which was the BB's Gamer's Club price. You can't go wrong with a price like that! If you've played animal crossing before or if you're a fan of this series, then you will enjoy it. It's pretty much the same as the first copy of Animal Crossing: New Leaf when it first came out except this time this copy includes one random amiibo card that you can use for this game and the latest update for this game. This latest update introduces amiibo support which you can scan your amiibo figures or cards to get exclusive items.
