Nioh 2 is a great game like Nioh 1. Also, It is a step up from Nioh 1.
The combat system is top notch. Deeper than soul games. Fun and challenging game. Also, for $10, there is no-brainer not to buy it. If you are into soul games, this game is for you.
I got this game from another store because BestBuy lost the game during the shipping and they were very helpful to offer to cancel or replace the order. BestBuy are great with their customer service.

Alot like Nioh 1 but with a new Yoki Shiftling mechanic, which definitely helps you avoid death in the Early game, and more personal protagonist customization.
If you enjoy Japanese folklore and challenging Dark souls like RPG then you'll enjoy this game. At the old PS1 "greatest hits" price of $10 it's a great deal.

**Nioh 2 (PS4): A Comprehensive Review**
**Gameplay and Mechanics:**
Nioh 2, developed by Team Ninja and published by Koei Tecmo, is a gripping action RPG set in a fantastical version of Sengoku-era Japan. Building upon its predecessor, Nioh 2 offers deep and challenging gameplay with a blend of fast-paced combat and strategic character progression. Players create their protagonist, a half-human, half-Yokai "Shifting," and embark on a journey through a world teeming with supernatural creatures and deadly adversaries. Combat is precise and demanding, requiring mastery of a variety of weapons, skills, and Yokai abilities to overcome relentless foes and powerful bosses.
**Graphics and Visuals:**
Visually, Nioh 2 excels with its stunning environments, detailed character models, and fluid animations. The game showcases beautiful landscapes inspired by historical Japan, from serene temples and lush forests to eerie Yokai-infested realms. On the PS4, the game delivers smooth performance and impressive graphical fidelity, enhancing immersion in its richly crafted world.
**Storyline and Narrative:**
The storyline of Nioh 2 blends Japanese mythology with historical fiction, weaving a tale of war, betrayal, and supernatural intrigue. Players navigate a complex narrative filled with political intrigue, personal vendettas, and the struggle for power amidst the chaos of war. The protagonist's journey of self-discovery and the exploration of their Yokai heritage are central themes, unfolding through cinematic cutscenes, character interactions, and deep lore scattered throughout the game world.
**Combat and Difficulty:**
Combat in Nioh 2 is the cornerstone of its gameplay, offering intense and satisfying encounters against diverse enemies and challenging bosses. The game demands skillful timing, precision, and strategic thinking as players engage in fast-paced battles. Each weapon type offers unique movesets and combat styles, allowing for varied approaches to combat scenarios. The difficulty is notably high, rewarding players who persevere with a deep sense of accomplishment and progression as they overcome formidable obstacles.
**Multiplayer and Co-op Mode:**
Nioh 2 features robust multiplayer options, including cooperative gameplay where players can team up to tackle missions and face off against powerful enemies. Players can summon allies to assist in battles, share loot, and strategize together to overcome daunting challenges. The multiplayer mode adds a social dimension to the game, encouraging teamwork and cooperation as players collaborate to conquer tough missions and earn valuable rewards.
**Soundtrack and Audio Design:**
The soundtrack of Nioh 2 enhances its immersive atmosphere with evocative compositions that blend traditional Japanese music elements with epic orchestral arrangements. The sound design is meticulous, featuring impactful sound effects that heighten the intensity of combat and environmental interactions, contributing to the game's overall sense of tension and drama.
**Pros:**
- Deep and challenging gameplay with rewarding combat mechanics.
- Stunning visuals and detailed environments inspired by Japanese history and mythology.
- Compelling storyline with rich character development and narrative depth.
- Robust multiplayer features, including cooperative missions and PvP battles.
- Excellent sound design and atmospheric soundtrack that enhance immersion.

With its deep gameplay mechanics, stunning visuals, and engaging multiplayer features, the game offers hours of thrilling gameplay for fans of challenging action RPGs. I found the game to be very fun and challenging. The missions are decently long (depending on how much you like to explore) and in plentiful amounts, so there's in no way a lack of content and total time played. There are 11 different weapon types including both melee and ranged which you can use simultaneously. The combat felt very smooth and rewarding when you pull it off correctly and the use of collectable "yokai abilities" helps out a lot when you fail, though of course, will not prevent death. In my experience, this game is much harder than others in its genre. Bosses are incredibly strong and can easily annihilate you in seconds, so this is game of concentration and sweat. But. holy crap, are those kills satisfying as hell. For me personally, I found the sensation of killing some of the bosses in this game to be the greatest sense of euphoria known to man. The loading screens are very fast only taking a couple of seconds on a standard PS4. The co-op system felt nice as well with no connection issues. However, in order to participate in multiplayer you do have to defeat the AI of other fallen players. The game also looks very nice and has good lighting effects, especially with water. One downside though though is the inventory management. While playing even a single level, you will gain a large amount of loot being armor, weapons, and consumables. There is a ton of different armor sets and weapons, each with their own personal bonus and stats. Overall a very nice game with lots of effort put into it and very enjoyable to play,

If you like venturing in the dark, spooky locales in a mythical version of Sengoku-era Japan and killing monsters like in Dark Souls or Bloodbourne, this game is 100% for you. The environments aren’t terrifying like Bloodbourne, but the combat in this game is so much better. You can transform into one of three monster types and beat up other monsters. If you played the first Nioh, quite a few things changed, such as using the soul cores dropped by defeated bosses and enemies to conjure a ghost that uses a signature attack from said enemy, inflicting dot heavy ki damage, or even dual elemental damage. After you master the new mechanics, the game will be a bit easier, but the man did they up the difficulty here so much that getting help is actively encouraged. You can either offer an ochoko cup at a shrine you use to level up (searches for a real-time player,) or you can run up to a blue sword in the ground called a “benevolent grave” and invoke the player’s character who died. The new yokai realm mechanic is interesting; it changes certain areas in your surroundings so that they are darker, ominous-looking, and contain tougher enemies to fight. Your stamina also regenerates slower inside the realm, so if an enemy breaks your guard with a strong attack, you might be out of ki long enough to get wrecked.

Although I was a bit worried because of the changes from Nioh, this felt very familiar due to how much I've played the SoulsBorne games. The combat feels great and frenetic at times, but satisfying overall.
One thing that I will make clear is that the game can be extremely difficult at times. But the reward for defeating a difficult fight can be exhilarating.
The graphics are amazing and I can't wait for the PS5 upgrade and I am glad they are allowing the option to transfer a PS4 save file.

If you're a fan of the Souls series, this is definitely a must buy. It's brutally difficult more often than not, but they give you plenty of tools to use to get through areas and defeat bosses. If you're struggling, you can summon help online through co-op or AI teammates which can be a huge help for fights. Excellent game and I highly recommend it if you're interested in feudal Japan and Souls-like games.

Great game, VERY challenging and a lot of fun, especially if you enjoyed the first installment. The game is like a combination of Ninja Gaiden and Dark Souls. If the game gets too difficult, there are multiplayer options that can help and even other methods of assistance. If you like those type of action games with some RPG elements, I definitely recommend it.
