It also shuts off spontaneously and will thus stop charging the watch. Cumbersome at times to recharge.

Sorry to hear that you had a bad experience with Pod Pro. Pod Pro is manufactured to strict Apple MFi guidelines. While it's possible that this was a faulty unit, it's also possible that too much torque was applied at the Apple Lightning cable/iPhone juncture and that that led to the Lighting plug breaking in order to protect the phone. Without knowing more about the circumstances of the incident, it's hard to say. What I can say, however, is that an issue like this would definitely be covered by our 2-year warranty. Ingenious, but not the sturdiest design

It's essentially a cylinder with a lid that attaches with magnets. On mine, one magnet had come loose from its glued position on the bottom half. Superglue fixed it and since then the charger has held together well. This seems to be a fairly common issue as Nomad's site has an FAQ item dedicated to it which suggests the same solution. Some sort of physical twist-lock might have been a more functional solution, especially since there is no need to be opening this on a regular basis. Getting past that, the charger does the job. It can charge an iPhone/iPad and an Apple Watch at the same time or separately. The charger does allow charging while the internal battery is also charging, but for this to work reliably you need a sufficiently powerful USB power source. An airplane USB port did not work for this, while the 10 W iPad power adapter did. I used this as a nightstand charger and for getting through a 14 hour flight (+ travel to/from the airport and sitting around waiting). I only needed a single iPhone 6s/Apple Watch charge out of it but it would have done at least a second.

All Pod Pros include a standard Micro USB cable in the box. It sounds like yours may have gone missing, in which case you can reach out to [email protected] and we'll get one sent out. As for the construction, Pod Pro is built from anodized aircraft grade aluminum and durable polycarbonate plastic, and its powered by high-capacity li-ion batteries. We also back all our stuff with a minimum 2-yr product-defect warranty, so just let us know any issues by emailing [email protected] and we'll get it squared away.

I didn't know what to get him for the holidays (he already has everything it seems) and somebody at my shop told me that their kid loves the pro pod. Easy enough, I already owned my own Nomadic product, so I had faith that this would be just the ticket. Anyway, I'm travelling for work over Christmas so we had celebrated it a week ago, and he was very happy with the Pod Pro.
