I seen a trailer for this anime and look good so I just had to buy a copy.

Genre: Action, Fantasy, Comedy Length: 13 episodes "Rikuo Nura is an average middle school student by day and yokai by night. He's not just any yokai -- he is the grandson of Nurarihyon, the Supreme Commander of the Nura Clan! Rikuo wants to live a normal life. However, his grandfather wants him to succeed as the rightful heir. When an inter-clan conflict threatens the stability within their organization, Rikuo must decide whether he will live his life as a human or accept his youkai heritage." Picked up this title on a whim as it was out in my store (we only get 1-2 new releases per month at my location) and I saw an advertisement for it on the animenewsnetwork website. Didn't really have high hopes coming into it, but I was pleasantly surprised. Each episode left off at a point that made me want to watch the next so I watched the entire thing in one sitting. Nura has a few factors going for it. It doesn't delve much into the romance element and focuses more on action with some comedy. There's obviously some romantic interest sparking throughout, but the characters are middle-schoolers even if they are considered to be adults at the age of 13 here. The action sequences are well-done throughout as well. A good musical score throughout helps set the pace for what's happening on screen. And the main character grows a backbone pretty quickly. Just can't cheer for the eternally-emo types. There are a couple down-sides, though. It's a typical Shonen Jump style series. Fights and more fights without a lot of character development. We don't know a single thing about any of the side characters outside of the paranormal group they're in with Rikuo. The demons openly express that they want to strike fear into humans but the Supreme Commander is extremely friendly with them. The logic isn't there. And then there's the fact that Rikuo's powers only manifest when he's about to die. No different from Bleach, Naruto, etc... Also, the dub is pretty bad. I watched it all with dubs just so I could focus on the screen. And, you can't swap between subs and dubs during watching. You have to change the settings from the main menu. Horrid design. The series, despite some of the usual flaws, is honestly fun to watch. I want to see every other episode and might just have to browse the streaming sites out there to watch more. After this, it's on to a more somber watch of Tokyo Magnitude 8.0.
