A bit pricy but works well

Pros - Fast menu and navigation - Quite a lot of settings to play around with (compared with other android boxes) - Remote control feels well done and not clunky - No complaints so far with the following apps (YoutubeTV, Prime, Netflix and Plex . . . . . . with the exception of audio lag with Prime at times) Cons - Price and availability. You can get other streaming boxes for a lot less money but the Shield PRO feels well built and works like a charm with no glitches . . . . SO FAR

    Worth the Money ??

Nvidia Shield Android TV Pro.. I actually have had the unit a little over 4 weeks. It is performing very satisfactorily. I have added a 256 GB flash drive so I could record TV Shows.. EASY-PEASY.. Was extremely simple to do. Using it as a plex server.. again, very simple to do.. Quality of picture & sound when playing .. excellent. Only reason I am not strongly recommending the unit, is the price. 200 dollars - When I compare the Shield to the Firestick 4K Pro.. at 55 Dollars, I question if it is worth the additional Money.. For me the answer was yes.

It was smaller than i expected and its performance is snappy; much faster than my smart TV. I like the feel of the remote and buttons. The automatic lighting on the remote is a cool feature. The option to setup a Plex server is also nice.

I had the 2017 pro version which I sold so decided to upgrade to the latest model. I will say that the 4k upscaling is a nice addition, other than that I don't really see a big difference in performance from the previous generation. I do love the new remote that accepts AAA batteries. Gaming is also a blast on this device, emulation works perfect and you can use xbox one controllers. Will most likely get one when they go on sale again.

Amazing Streaming Device (3rd one purchased)

I now own 3 of these, one for each main room, this device is worth the money. Especially if you like to Game Stream (Steam Link) from PC to big screen w/ controller. The ease of use is amazing, video quality is superb! 4k w/ HDR and Atmos sound is flawless! Price is a little steep for what it is offering, but that is what happens when the competition is horrible in the Android world.

Most capable streaming device, able to keep up with any task, marginally better than Apple tv 4k, the only device in it's league at the price point. Absolutely optional upgrade as older pro version does everything this version does sans sub-4k upscaling, and single-layer Dolby vision support. If not interested in these features, skip this release and hold onto previous gen shield pro. If looking for center in media consumption, this device is a must have for the savvy Android user, all others, see Apple tv 4k

I had owned the 2015 version of the Shield. It didn't support Dolby Vision bur was a really good Android device. When the new 2019 came out, I bought one on the first day. Wow, nice improvements: Faster menus/system Dolby Vision support AI based new upscaling The Dolby Vision is great but the new AI based up scaling is incredible! Turns older videos into almost Blu-ray quality. Great Improvement!

Bought because my smart TV was limited to a 100 mbps connection. This has a gig commection speed, so the picture looks a lot better (no stair stepping). The only problem right now is that once in awhile the picture goes black once or twice in a day. I havent determined the cause. Otherwise, the device does what I want it to and it includes dolby vision and dolby atmos in addition to HDR.

The Nvidia Shield is my go-to streaming box. It supports all modern video and audio codecs, has excellent upscaling, and runs Android TV which is amazing. Plus you can host Plex on it! It's also super tiny and the remote is easy-to-use and has sufficient buttons to make viewing easy.

Hands down the best streaming device on the market. Full 4k HDR, Dolby Vision capability with first class AI upscaling of lower resolution content. All hi def audio codecs, Dolby Atmos and DTS X are supported. It even has gaming support as well. You get what you pay for and you get everything with the Nvidia Shield. Word to the wise get the PRO. DON'T get the tube version for less!!! It has performance issues but you can't go wrong with this one

Excellent streaming device I recommend this device to all of my family and friends. You can’t beat the speed picture quality and performance. I’ve been purchasing Nvidia products for the past five years. I have not had any issues with there products. If you want the absolute best in the game choosing Nvidia is your absolute best option.

This is by far the best streaming device of them all. It is fast, has options on top of options, or just use it with defaults. Amazing improvement in the picture quality on streaming 720p and 1080p live tv streams compared to built in apps on most smart TV's. Only thing missing is Fox Sports 4K/HDR on that app, and some HDR formats on Youtube, but that is the fault of the app, not the shield. Highly recommended.

    NVIDIA Shield random reebot

This streaming device was great for about 1.5 years. It started randomly rebooting, which would then turn everything thing else on and raise the projector screen. Apparently this is a known issue. NVIDIA support had me trouble shoot for 2 weeks and then sent a new power supply to test. When that didn't fix the problem, they had me return the device and sent a replacement. Just got the replacement yesterday. Hopefully this one doesn't also have random reboot issues.

Can't really say anything bad about the Shield Pro. It plays all of the major streaming apps in 4k with Atmos. I added several game emulators and it easily syncs with multiple controllers. The remote easily paired with my 4k Samsung TV to control the power & volume. If you are looking for the best all around Media Player on the market, look no further!

I have owned apple tv 4k, roku ultra and fire tv4k and the picture quality in this far exceeds any of them. The true test is when you ho back to watch older shows and see the upscaling to 4k. Older shows have never so beautiful. Between that and the dolby audio make this worth the price if you want the best picture and siund quality when streaming.

I had the previous shield and decided to upgrade to this new one after getting a new 4k TV so I could make use of the Upscaling the new model has and its been great. The upscaling really does make a difference and its good. You can have a good amount of detail without losing clarity which is impressive. the new remote also feels solid and I like the inclusion of the netflix button since we watch a lot of netflix in my household.
