    Nvidia Shield TV Pro

A great streamer. The primary motivation for buying this product was to get around my LG OLED TV’s N wireless adaptor, and it’s 100MB Ethernet adaptor. The shield has AC wifi and a gig Ethernet port. I was really down on LG for putting network adaptor technology that conservitely was replaced 10 years ago. A AC adaptor and gig port maybe would cost them a couple of bucks today. I found out that most TV brands are still built today with those really slow components. The justification I’ve read is Netflix and most other streaming plateforms only require speeds of 20 meg or so, why bother. Bother because I’ll think about it next time I consider dropping 3 grand on a TV! The Nvidia shield works great. It has apps for just about everything, including HBO MAX which my LG TV does not! Substituting the Shield TV in place of the TV’s smart apps provides a better Home Screen and interface for content. The hardware is attractive enough to show off, however small enough to tuck away. The remote control is Bluetooth so line of sight is not of concern. The streaming quality of 4K UHD content is excellent, and while I’ve trashed LG a bit, the 77” OLED display is to die for. The shield has a good processor, but since I don’t game, I’ve read it is a bit overkill for my purpose. It can run a Plex server, but it appeared to me that any storage for content needed to be attached the the Shield (i.e. no network drives). The Plex client app worked fine with a Plex server elsewhere on my home network. I was slightly disappointed that if your choice was to use a Emby server, the client app will cost you a modest fee. The Nvidia Shield TV Pro is an excellent product. There are less expensive alternatives, but for $200, it’s likely best of breed.

I got this on sale but even at full price it's a solid buy. Currently using it with a Geforce Now 3080 subscription and it really does play games at 4K 60fps with practically no lag and no visual degradation. Use this with a wired Ethernet connection for best results.

Honestly really happy with the Shield. I have a TV from 2016 and the interface is soooooo slow, its was aweful. But now with the Shield TV its INSTANT, when I use the controller there is an immediate response on the TV where as on my Sony TV I have like a 10 second delay between clicks. The major feature that I wanted was the AI Upscaling which is nice to have as well. Although it is a slight sharpening affect you do notice it and it does make things look a little nicer IMO. Finally, I really like that I can use it as a Plex server. This means that I can off-load the task from my main PC and not have to worry about turning my PC on to use watch movies on Plex. Definately recommend

I first bought the little brother of this device due to that was all that was available & it was awesome, however I don’t know how it would get better, but it has, the Pro version is more powerful & there hasn’t been any hiccups & it has performed great, would highly recommend to anyone. The price is a little on the high side, however you get what you pay for.

We noticed a significant improvement in the overall performance of our home theater system when we switched our streaming from the tv to this Nvidia Shield. Very happy with this purchase. Expensive but worth the price.

Great streamer and media player. Plays Dolby Vision and loss less Atmos with my plex server. I had a firestick 4k, fire stick 4k max and the shield beats them both by miles. If you’re going to RIP your 4k blue rays and create your own library, this is one of the players for your media

Best streaming box currently on the market. I have both Roku and a Firestick and this hands down blows those away. The gaming on it is as comparable to a PS or XBOX. Easy to jailbreak too so you can get apps for it much like yoiur phone. Google doesnt want you too, but you can with ease

Over priced, but the best streaming device their is. Value wise, it’s terribly overpriced being 4 years old for the 2019 version. However, I paired this with my Samsung QN90A and it upscales older non HD movies much better than the QN90A. I am able to plug in directly to router via an Ethernet cable. The UI is snappy as well.

I have a 32" tv in my home office that has Roku built in. I normally am happy with Roku but because it was a cheap TV, I think they did not put a very good processor in. It is slow. I also use bluetooth headphones with it through the Roku app and it would keep on disconnecting and when connected, the volume would go loud enough. I was tired of this so I researched and purchased the Nvidia Shield TV Pro. I've had the various streamers but this is by far the best experience. It is quick and has lots of options. I've connected my bluetooth headphones to it and the volume can get really loud. It solved all of my issues. I've also played some AAA games through Nvidia Geforce Now on it and it is pretty great. I'm using wifi and I have not had any issues. If you are deciding between this and the non-pro, I would go with the pro if you can afford the extra $50. The extra gig of ram will be worth it over the life of having it. If you are looking for a streamer purely for streaming video, I would look elsewhere because it is expensive. If you are looking for a streamer that is more like a phone or tablet in that you can play games, download apps, etc..., it is awesome.

Nvidia Shield TV Pro is really fast and smooth. Streaming 4K stuff looks amazing on it. I like the AI upscaling, makes old videos look better. Remote could be bit more comfy to hold tho. Overall, it’s pricey but worth it if you watch lot of TV.

I love this little shield so much this is my second one. I put it in my sons room after a covid scare and wanted him to be able to at least watch some tv. I have nothing negative about the shield (I still have an older one which gets updates) and in my opinion is the best streaming device around with some light gaming.

This is the King of the Hill for media players. One major selling point is, the player will upscale the picture quality on older, inferior recorded media. That means movies (for example) which is playing in 480 or 720 will look like 1080P. This is well worth the money.

Wish I could browse network shares

I got this in hopes of replacing my much larger Windows 10 media center PC for my home theater system. I use the media center for my 4K and Atmos MKV files, but the interface is awkward on a 4k TV for hitting shares with Explorer. Not to mention the size of the box. Unfortunately, this has no way to simply browse SMB shares. I did try setting up Plex, since my 8 bay Synology DS1821+ can run Plex server. And it worked, mostly, although sometimes I'd have issues and stutters using this on the exact same movie files that had NO playback issues on the MCPC. I'll not I was NOT using this wirelessly, but plugged into a Cat-6 gigabit network. The video quality was excellent though, as was the support for dolby vision. I don't stream from any services other than Amazon prime maybe once or twice a year, and that worked fine as well, although just for that I would've used the built in TV app, my Fire TV cube, or my media center PC. My biggest problem is that I have such a huge collection of digital media now over the years, that Plex just doesn't cut it. That worked fine for my movie share and TV show share, but I have a "videos" and "cartoons" share that are just the files organized in folders, and Plex doesn't work well at ALL with, say, a folder called "Looney Tunes" with 400 individual files in that one folder. Hence my need to browse by SMB share sometimes. I ended up returning it, but that was due to my particular needs, not any massive failure or fault in the hardware. If I was a more "normal" person, this would've worked pretty well.
